  1. Few updates on the Z. Tail lights are back together with trim and gaskets Added some color to the license plate frame. Used the L series engine blue and 280Z yellow I had from a previous car. And finally, getting the drivers door back together. New hardware, seals, and rubber bits.
  2. Given the stiff fines and prison time associated with Fraud and all the EPA Regulations in the automotive business even at the time - No Authorized New Car Dealer would ever mess with Federally Required numbers on a motor vehicle. I think the issue was addressed when the Seller Posted the block casting numbers. It would appear from the final sale price - matching vs non-matching numbers is about a $5K delta on a Driver quality 240Z today. It will be interesting to see what the Red 73 with L28 and other upgrades sells for tomorrow.
  3. The green Z with the sketchy number pad grinding is up today. You can't bust through the facade over there. The Z promoters are guarding the perception gates. The latest on the stamping is that a Nissan service department did it on a new replacement engine in the past at a customer's request. Looks like a used engine to me, but that harshes the Z buzz and is not allowed. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-170/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-07-21 Question for Carl Beck - have you ever seen or heard of a Nissan service department grinding numbers off of a block and replacing them with fake numbers to match the cars ID plate? @Carl Beck
  4. Actual Mileage is very important - if it isn’t completely overshadowed by Condition. in this case 15K original miles is almost meaningless as it relates the market value of the car. The condition of the car says 115K and I think he has a $24K to $28K example at the best. It is certainly a driver or a restorable example. The only thing I see that is really exceptional is the condition of the floorboards/frame rails.
  5. For what it's worth I've only replaced outers on my Zs as part of of refurbishing the steering racks. My '72 drives like it's on a rail, straight without any shake and that's the OE inner tie rods. I will add it's low mileage car however so take that into consideration. Mine is a once monthly driven car too so I didn't replace the inners. I think you can spend money elsewhere like new rotors, calipers and SS short lines on all 4 corners. I went with drilled and slotted rotors plus ceramic pads, new bearings and all that stuff. Very happy with the results too.
  6. I have a dome light that has power going to it... the click switch works, but i cant get the door switch to turn the light on. the passenger door switch is good, the drivers side is in need of replacing... and is now out... shouldnt the passenger side door when open make the dome light go on?? does the drivers side need to be grounded? i tried doing that and no difference.. what do i need to do to get the switch to make the light go on?? what am i missing here? thanks
  7. Installed the Techno Versions V Boost tach adapter last night. The ebay version, although functioning, tended to jump around a lot. The V Boost version has enough power to smooth the signal totally out! Still waiting on the replacement fuel pump. The stock unit can’t feed the volume anymore and is leaning out under load. Ordered a Walbro in line unit to replace it. This should also get rid of the pump noise that was driving me nuts.
  8. Thanks everyone...Its clear its patience and persistence. Thanks. Your description is clear. That sounds like the only option short of a special tool. I will persist!

  10. Get your cabin fan going - that will equalize the pressure and push the fumes out.
  11. One tip I have used for breaking loose bolts: Before you try to loosen it, torque it slightly tighter. This may give you a little wiggle room to get it started turning the correct direction to loosen it. This actually worked for one screw when I was trying to remove the grille. Don't forget that heat can be your friend. Sometimes a heat gun is enough.
  12. The "patience thing" seems to be working. After four days, I finally got one of the over riders detached from the bumper. Consumed one can of PB Blaster, some WD40, some Lucas penetrating oil spray recommended by a friend who uses it on his old Lotus and Corvette, a brass wire detail brush for cleaning bolt threads, and bought a set of offset box wrenches at the "disposable" tool store Harbor Freight for better leverage, The second over rider is soaking and I'll try again tomorrow morning around 6:30 AM while the temperature is still under 100º. It's not a hobby, it's an adventure! 😎

    Happy birthday to me yesterday!
  14. PB always got me unstuck. I’ve also used a mix of ATF and PB, and let it sit for extended periods of time. Some people really like Kroil, I’ve never used it (can’t seem to find it locally)…

Of course your health care is your personal choice, but one of the points I've been trying to make previously is that the info you get in order to make your choice should come from reputable sources. If you're getting your vaccine guidance from some guy on the internet (like that fear mongering youtube video), then I think you should seek more reputable guidance. If you're getting your vaccine advice from a Facebook friend, then I think you should seek more reputable guidance. Call your doctor and ask them. Simple as that. Ask your doctor what they think. Ask them about the risks of getting a vaccine and the risks of not getting it. Ask them if they recommend getting it or not. Ask your doctor about the bad things you've heard like tracking chips and sterility. Ask them what they think about those risks. Don't listen to me. Don't listen to Facebook. Don't listen to Youtube. Don't listen to MSNBC. Don't listen to FOX. Don't listen to that wacky "news" site run by the religious cult from China. Don't listen to internet "news" from someone who calls themselves "the first port of call for the argumentative Indian." Call your doctor. YOUR doctor. Call your doctor and ask. Call them and use their guidance to form an opinion that isn't fed to you by some guy on the internet. I've been struggling with figuring out how to put that into words.
