I work for a small garage that’s in an industrial complex. Old neighbors specialized in 1938-1948 V-12 Lincoln Continental and Zephyr cars but would never see anything there. New neighbors are much more active and have some customers with some seriously sweet cars. Makes our lot look like salvage yard. This morning they’ve run several up the road and boy do they sound good. I would say blue is better. Black is also a dead give away someone's been in the motor

At 58k miles it just needs a good clean and after these 40+ years some new gaskets and new oil seals on the valves that would be all.. Clean it up, get yourself some tools and take a good look in the serv.manual.. and take your time. you'll get there! Some pics are always nice and maybe also helpful! I could probably spend a weekend reading all the information in this thread. You’ve done an incredible amount of work, the little stuff matters and takes time and patience...lots of patience and money. . My motor is mostly a stock ZX, I’d like to squeeze some extra power but we shall see which direction I go in the future. I love the Louvers too. The hood graphic was a custom one off car wrap I had made. It’s detailed back in the thread somewhere. Thanks for the compliments on the car! It’s not perfect but I love it too.

Well, I took a shortcut and bought a built engine. Added fuel injection and performance mods like a crank angle sensor and coil on plug. Of course any mods to a FI car require a new computer, so I went Haltech. According to my baseline tuner, I have left a lot more HP on the table and will retune in the spring. Should be closer to 300 HP and 290 TQ in that block.

Wow Mark, thats a good result! I ask myself what have you done to get that kind of power and then i saw your on page 139 !! wow.. can you give me a short list of what i can do with my 280zx engine (is it a megasquirt or something??) to get around 200 horse? If i don't get my original 280zx injection working very good i will consider a better injection system.. with also more hp.

@Dolfinz, I have a boroscope, some extra unused valve stem seals that I'm hopefully never going to use, and the right size rope for filling the cylinder (if it comes to that). I'm in North Phoenix (~Tatum and Deer Valley), will PM you my phone number and we can talk. I'm about 10% as knowledgeable as the other guys who have been helping out, but I'm local and happy to help if I can. Word of warning: I'm not a Z whisperer, though maybe someday ... Today, I did my first oil change on my own rebuilt L28, re-torqued the head bolts, and adjusted the valve lash. And now it idles and runs like crap. I'm hoping that I just don't yet have the "feel" for my feeler gauge and that I just got a couple of intake valves a little tight. The ups and downs of Z-itis.

Any Amazon wifi or bluetooth endoscope will work. They are about $35 and most have a mirror attachment that allows you to see the top of the chamber. I have the Depstech one and it works fine, though battery life on mine isn't great. I just use an external battery so I don't have to worry if it's charged when I want to use it a few times per year.

Having been close to 130mph in my first 240z, many years ago. I would go with the higher numbers
