  1. I notice E4125 on your document, Kats. But we were talking about E4126 as the early H.L. cover set? I'm confused.
  2. The coil is not grounded full time. It is only grounded when it is triggered by the ignition system. It sounds like you are saying that in your configuration the positive is coming from the ECU. I am not familiar with Duffy's car, I have no idea how he wired his ignition or tachometer. If firing when attempting to start is intermittent, verify the Hall effect sensor is working properly and the ignition system is grounding when getting the proper signal from the sensor. It sounds like you have done that already. What is the resistance from battery negative to the grounding screw in the photo? How about resistance from battery negative to the grounding post on the alternator? Again, if you have the stock connections on the battery, you have a large gauge wire to the starter and a smaller gauge wire (around 10AWG or so) going from the battery negative to the firewall. If you don't have the second wire, your grounding could be compromised. The starter is firmly bolted to the bell housing which, in turn, is firmly bolted to the block. The cable is the weakest link in that chain. The next weak link is corrosion on fasteners or between components. Also, don't be afraid to take a resistance reading between the engine block (unpainted surface like the bolts around the timing chain cover) and the shock tower studs. Have the meter on resistance, not continuity. You want the number, not a buzzing.
  3. good point about the signature 😄
  4. Very rare document. Fantastic!
  5. I have this paper , supplemental information for optional parts for S30 series . Dated 45. 1. 21 ( 1970 . January 21st ) , just a little bit earlier than “Race and Rally manual Fairlady Z 432-R” February 1970 . I want to see if there is one which is earlier than Jan 21st 1970 . We see the first parts catalog for Fairlady Z series is November 1969 . And this catalog, there are lot of blank pages .No pages for option parts ,even no pages for keys, heater system either , etc etc . I guess parts catalog department was working so hard on publications to catch up with car delivery. I thought parts catalog was ready just in time , but it wasn’t, was it usual thing back in the days ? So , this supplement information paper dated January 21st 1970 might not be a big delay if this is a first one , I guess. Today we have internet, but in 1970, business people must have send these paper packed in an envelope and threw it into a post . Kats
  6. Eh..? No? Not on 280zx's.. but i think you refering to the 260z that were still build for europe from 1974 till the 280zx came in 1979! Then Yes! There were still carbs then on the 260z's (So the 260z's were here for sale from 1974 till 1978 between 240z and 280zx.. the 280z was never delivered official in europe.. all 280z are grey import.) What the head number was on 260z i don't know for sure but the E88 comes to mind, no idea if there were N42's on 260z's? On the 1979 280zx there was a N42 head. You can read about it in my restoration of a 1979 2+2 slickroof datsun 280zx thread i think..
  7. Might be easier to just use a neoprene washer then. Similar to this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/3-16-in-x-1-2-in-Black-Neoprene-Washer-4-Piece-815728/204276433?MERCH=REC-_-pipsem-_-204276387-_-204276433-_-N
  8. The rubber bit doesn’t sit in the slit like a grommet would, it is just a disk on the handle side to, as mentioned, sound dampen the action when you use the handle. I think it was actually felt-like or something.
  9. Generic rubber grommet of the proper size should do. You'll need to determine the size of the hole in the latch housing the latch rod runs through and the size of the latch rod itself and choose a size that is close to the same. The flanges of the grommet will sound deaden the metal to metal contact of the latch rod ring end and the metal washer on the spring side. I think that was the intended reason for the rubber cushion. You will probably have to razorblade split the grommet to install it-- using superglue to join the split after it is in place. The grommet may be elastic enough to slip over the ring end of the rod linkage----I don't know---worth a try. 10. Side note , my 240ZG has old screws, maybe originals. And captive nut for the head light case is original for 240ZG. Kats
  11. Hi Alan, E4100 is before E4126 , I think so too. And they both have 4 screws , and the same screw positions, so there would be some small change from E4100 to E4126 ? I need to find more clear photographs of the Z432 on a display stand at the 16th Tokyo Motor show. If this car has three screws , then what part number would have been applied? There would never be earlier number than E4100. Kats
  12. 1 point
What's the purpose of the weep hole, is it sad?
