  1. Thanks all I haven’t had any further progress on the 240z. I’ve been umming and ahhing about how to proceed. once I get some time I will head to where the car is and do some thinking. I did get my dash back from the shop. It looks fantastic, has been reskinned. @dutchzcarguy the 280zx however has had some love, it’s just so much easier to get stuff done when the car is with you unlike the 240z… I installed new Rota grid classic wheels and DGR coilovers with some T3 Negative camber roll center adjusters, T3 tri point strut bar in the front, T3 billet steering coupler and the Godzilla raceworks Cold air intake, also bought a set of recaro LXs, but am only installing the drivers seat as I love the stock velour seats but they’re horrible for spirited driving. The recaro LXs are beautiful period correct seats that really hold you in place. I’ve been collecting all the parts for a manual conversion and should be starting that shortly, I have a heavier duty clutch, fidanza aluminum flywheel to go in, only thing I haven’t been able to source is a R180 3.9 or Subaru LSD R160 3.9. But I can do the conversion and put a new diff in later. I’m in love with the zx, loving having a z to drive while I’m restoring the 240z. Can’t wait to be able to shift my own gears though, the auto box is horrendous.
  2. My experience with car covers on open trailers is that the wind will billow the cover and cause it to rub / slap against the paint. I wouldn't recommend using a cover for that purpose.
  3. This is my transmission porn, Cliffs looks great in natural aluminum. I used purple power, pressure washers and a wire brush. Then painted with Cast Iron color engine paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I heard that and a few other products. I have a gallon of Mineral Spirit somewhere in the garage. Let's try that first to see how it'll turn out
  5. Cheap foam oven cleaner from Walmart and a high pressure blast cleaned mine up really good. I left it aluminum though.
  6. Looking good, I cant wait to get to assembly. For painted fasteners, I go back with a disposable micro brush (amazon) and dot the bolts with some paint. I just finished restoring a 1930 model A pick up and almost every screw was painted body color and scratched during assembly. Not to mention that every screw was a flathead! It was like assembling Christmas toys over and over.
  7. ^Those were a HUGE help! Thank you! I actually got smart for once and broke out the trim kit: and used the pick to find the holes: The center ones ended up being offset just a bit: But everything went fine once the center screws were on, as expected: Still probably need to replace those screws with a black version; they stick out like a sore thumb...
  8. Open onsite. The oil look horrible 😞 somebody tried to fix the leak by using clear silicone for batub, windows … Surprisingly the gears looked really good. Bought it and brought it home. This weekend will be greasy .
  9. I've been meaning to drive down to Auburn to pay them a visit. Seems like a good outfit. They sold me a nice reproduction set of 4 rear finisher panel bottom clips for $20 off eBay when other online sources wanted $30 per clip. Anyway, nice find and story! Always nice to rediscover a car you had a connection to. Makes the restoration process that much more meaningful. In for some "current state" engine bay + interior pics, and that list of mechanical sins the previous owners committed!
  10. 23.5 on 16x10 rims. 🙄
  11. My condolences to you and your family, so sorry for your loss.
  12. Ps. you can change the topic name of this topic, how? you will find out! 🙂
  13. HI Ryan! You say: I never suffered such pain.. I know what you mean.. My mother left us .. just half an hour after i heared that I had successfully completed my education, which i worked hard for.. (i really went from high up to the lowest deepest pit..) So.. my condolences to you. Nice to hear that you are working on your car again! Do you still have the 280zx and what are you going to do with it? But first that 240 ofcourse!! We want to see your progress! (But finish first your house and stuff..) Mart
  14. So sorry for your loss! Sounds like you're working through it and that's a good thing. Congrats on the new house and man cave. That dash does look rough, are you reskinning or replacing from Vintage Dashes or ...?
  15. No emoji for loss of a loved one. Keep up the love for Project Georgia.
  16. Sorry for your loss, much to young. Remember the good times. Best of luck with the new home and with the Zcar. Just keep at it.
  17. Hi Ryan, So very sorry to hear about your Mum and I can sympathise completely with your situation. Unfortunately last year I had a very similar situation: On May 1st 2021 my Mum (who was my Dad's carer) fell over and hit her head very hard against a wall causing a big brain bleed. This lead to an extremely rapid onset of vascular dementia (they said the head injury "uncovered" the underlying dementia) and she died on November 14th. It was a truly dreadful time and experience. When my Dad called me to tell me of my Mum's initial fall I was in the garage preparing to put a new chassis rail on - the car has just sat in exactly the same state as I left it then until now but I think I'm about ready to get back in there. Hope this year picks up for you and looking forward to seeing your progress - it might inspire me! Jon.
