  1. Must have stuttered when I added the pic.
  2. Cost analysis, The CIBIE housings where $78 each, the bulbs a hun, so for $200 bucks I got pretty decent (and easy to install) lighting. Not bad.
  3. If I'm understanding correctly, you want to put a voltmeter in the console, and you want a switched voltage signal to connect it to? If that's the case, then you could just tie into the blue wire that powers the radio. It's switched, and it's already in the console harness. If all your connectors are clean, it "should" give you an accurate reading of system voltage. Oh, and BTW, the color wiring diagram you posted above is for the 77. Many (most) systems of the 77 are very similar to the 75, but there may be some differences. I normally would start by looking at that 77 color diagram, but to be sure, you should also double check the old style 75 diagram out of the FSM. Especially wire colors, etc.

So I know there were a number of areas that the factory applied black paint to improve the look or finish. Where are all of these areas? What is the extent of the application? What finish was the paint? Flat, semi or gloss? These are some of the areas that I can remember Some of this area behind the qtr glass Some portion of this edge on the window Behind the speaker holes Some portion of the front radiator support I also believe there was some down near the foot well or the kick panel??
  5. I tested it when I installed the new filter and lines, and I believe it was 36~ when running.
  6. I yield to your expertise, but my relay has an extra ground wire coming off of it that is held down with one screw. I'll run out to the car and attempt to get a clear photo of it. I could very well be an idiot, but I'm 99% sure the ground wire is there, and the part number "25230-89958" is printed on the side. What would cause mine to have the extra ground wire if it wasn't added in 78? It looks factory? Will update when I can get a picture of it (likely within the hour) EDIT: went and looked, no ground wire coming off of it, but there is one bolter to it's bracket (which was the source of my confusion.) Photo in next post. The starter is brand new (I actually forgot to mention that in my original post, my mistake.) The car will crank when warm or hot, it just won't start when hot. The fuel pump activates when the key is turned to start, as does the starter when the spade connector is connected.
  7. That coolant hose going to the intake manifold I believe helps warm up the incoming gas, helps atomize it on cold mornings, the earlier cars didn't have that and they work fine.
  8. The panels that came with the car were in very poor shape so the owner has sprung for a full set from Palco panels, they arrived today. We only placed the order a week and a half ago, good customer service, lots of communication. From what I can see, for new panels they are pretty much the only game in town. There is this guy, https://jpfibershop.com/producto/datsun-s30-240z-260z-280z-full-rear-interior-trim-frp-version/ who says he can make you a full set of panels for $400, but I just can't see that. Too good to be true and the photos of his work don't inspire me with confidence. So here are some pics, the plastic is just slightly thicker than the originals or it could just be that the plastic is new, the colour is perfect to my eye and they are painted, the pattern is an exact match. I test fitted 2 panels and some small trimming will be needed but so far I'm very impressed. I've got a bunch of other stuff that has to be done before I get to the interior but I'll post pics when I get to that part.
  9. Going to look into this regulator. Decided I will be changing the rail for a protunerz rail. When on sale their usually 90 dollars and come with all fittings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. View Advert Free - MSA Type 2 body kit Datsun 240Z-280Z - Colorado I have an MSA Type 2 body kit for Datsun 240Z, 260Z or 280Z. 4 piece set includes front air dam, rear bumper and two side skirts. Fiberglass with protective gel-coat, ready for prep and paint. In original box from MSA. New, never installed. Just a few cosmetic scratches from taking out of the box and put back in for storage. I do not have mounting hardware. Came with my son's 280Z when he bought it and he doesn't want to use it. I want it all out of my garage. Live in Louisville, CO 80027. If you want to pick it up, it's yours for free. If you want it shipped, it's still in the original box but no clue what that would cost. Doesn't weight much, but it's large. If you want to pay shipping and want to help with logistics, I'll drop it off for you. https://www.thezstore.com/product/4794/msa-type-2-body-kit-70-78-240z-260z-280z-coupe Advertiser thetwood Date 08/26/2023 Price Category Parts for Sale
  11. The Isuzu valve was nice because it was all one piece and the metal tube is 5/16" / 8 mm. cut the tube and slide it in. I posted a picture in a previous thread. I can't remember the year, I think it was late 80's. Unfortunately, not really common to find them in the yards.
  12. Well what goes out needs a source. Otherwise a vacuum would be created. Just enough exchange of volume is needed to maintain a near neutral balance between atmospheric pressure and crankcase pressure. There is always some combustion pressure that leaks past the pistons. If the crankcase pressure is too high or low, the movement of the pistons will be affected. Pan evacuation is one means to keep the parasitic losses to a minimum.
  13. https://www.dashtop.com/categories/240z Price was $1273.00 but by the time they got up here with exchange, S&H, duties, taxes it was more like $2,800 CND

I was looking at some of my spare quarter windows. I'm still not sure this wasn't painted black It scratches off, like a coating

Here are some pics from my project, just a few VINs younger than Lily. No blackout around the quarter windows as the weather strip seal will cover everything. Blackout on the interior B-pillar at the leading edge of the dogleg panel: Blackout along the A-pillar and frame rail at the kick panel edges: Blackout on the front of the radiator support and the five mounting points for the grill: Also the seat mounting brackets: No blackout behind the speaker holes in the rear interior panel. Hope this helps.
