  1. Well, it has been long overdue, but I finally had a 2 post lift installed on Tuesday. It is a 9,000 lb. symmetrical lift I got from the Lift Superstore. They have a shop about an hour from me. Two guys delivered it and installed it in about 4 hours. I am going to christen it tomorrow by doing the brakes on my truck.

  2. Version 2 of my 10mm throttle arms are done. I recessed the hardware a little more and added a 5mm allen for safety. Plus designed up a return spring setup to match! I think I’m happy with this asthetics.

  3. The lift was $3,500. Delivery and install was $1,050. I picked a local company, to avoid having delivery problems. If you buy a lift off the internet and have it shipped to you, they bring it to your door and it is your responsibility to get it off the truck. By using a local company, they take delivery at their warehouse and brought it out to me on a trailer and off-load it themselves. Plus, if they was ever an accident later, I can legitimately say that it was professionally installed.

  5. Some regular washers might fit. My 77 has all 6 of them flat rusted and I dont have space to fit the regular ones. The McMaster ones work. These ones also fit a bit cheaper. Check your fit: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/06772388 I am receiving the McMaster tomorrow and will send a snap.

  6. Sorry to be a nay sayer...I ordered diamond vinyl from Interior Innovations and the quality was far less than desired. The material was thin and cheap, and the embossing was almost non-existent. I returned it for a full refund. This was about 3+ years ago. Not sure what is with the sewn diamond patterns, but if you want real leather, I suppose its the only way to get the look of embossed vinyl. I had another negative experience with Banzai. It wasn't the quality, as I never saw what Mike offers...it was just dealing with him on a set that was sourced from Distinctive Industries. At the time, they were changing material vendors and I saw a "puffy" vinyl set that Chet Whitle had received for a car he was doing...and called Mike with my concerns. He immediately cancelled my order without discussion. I was in shock...! I'm sure he is a great resource to the "Z" hobby, but wasn't to me at the time. I ended up with a kit from Motorsports and am very pleased with the quality. All the best...Ryals

  7. DOH! As I was torquing it down, I noticed there is a vent on the top of the shifter cover. Now the fun part, getting trans back in. Seems like it was a lot easier when I was younger.

  9. What about a local paint/body shop or auto paint store?

  10. Just for comparison, the ones on my 7/70 measure 17.8mm OD x 6.7mm ID for both the round and D washers. The D measurement is 15.3mm.

  11. Seems like they have these in stock: https://www.mcmaster.com/96025A221/ You need D washers here on 3 of the holes each side. 2 per side has those rubber bumpers. I am planning to just use all 5 D washers for now. Also flat side goes on the bottom as there is no space, that's the point for having the D washer here. I have few original ones but they are rusted. These new ones are great quality.

  12. Where would a "D" washer be used on a fender? I didn't even know what one was so I got on the Google. And there are several shapes/types that are apparently called D washers. Maybe add some description? https://www.google.com/search?q=d+washer

  13. Seamstress Chalk. Wipes right off. Never understood why they don’t clean it up. Seen it multiple times.

  14. I did this job to my silver 240z a few years ago. Blasting wasn't an option for me so I used a combination of wire wheels, paint stripper, putty knives, and phosphoric acid. I soaked paper shop rags in phosphoric acid and placed them on the metal. This is how I removed most all of the rust. I also cut out the rain cover over the fan blower intake so that I could gain access to areas below it. I reinstalled the rain cover using a silicone sealant rather than welding it. After everything was all clean, I epoxy primed, seam sealed, primed again, and painted. I should also mention that I had the dash out of the car and the interior was totally removed. This made it easier to deal with the fan blower air intake. It was a miserable job. I don't ever want to have to do it again.
