Mart I believe we are coming to a point now, that restoring cars from the 60/70's becomes so expensive, its easier to buy a restored one almost. Currently we are doing the 67 chevelle ss , 2 worn outs seats 1000 usd, 1 door panel 600, prices are going crazy, to when these cars where just 35-40 years old... I also start to see a trend where 60\70s classics are not for the " common man " anymore....

View Advert 1975 Datsun "Rotsun" 280z 1975 Datsun 280z Started as a "Rotsun" build, only three rust spots remain, all fairly small and in easy locations, pics attached. Floorplan rust removed and resealed. Engine was built with flat top pistons, N42 head that was rebuilt, new timing chain, bearings, rings, etc. 6-2 headers and Z story exhaust. Triple Mikuni PH44 carbs tuned with a wideband gauge. Starts and runs excellently. 5 speed swap from the 280zx. New clutch and resurfaced flywheel. All rubbers have been replaced including fuel lines, coolant lines, and full poly bushings. Aluminum radiator with dual fans. New fuel pump and cleaned up fuel tank. Koni Yellow struts with Zcar springs. Konig wheels with Toyo R888R tires. Apex engineering rear control arms. Skillard door cards and trim bits. Engine wiring harness fully redone with a new fuse box. Interior has new carpet, new dash cover, Sparco Sprint seats and Sparco mounts, OMP harnesses, T3 Tuning Harness bar. Open for trades as well. Recently ran this at an HPDE event to shake down. Passed NASA inspection and had no issues other than minor annoyances fixed at the track during 4 sessions. Recklessly driving around eating their pets. In Ohio, a new anti-hooning bill was signed into law in July 2024. The law increases penalties for hooning from a traffic ticket to a felony, and allows law enforcement to ticket spectators. Drivers who flee from law enforcement can be charged with a third-degree felony, which could result in jail time.

For reference, here are a few pics of the OE welt and weather strip to show how the two piece design worked.

The original E41 design WAS a two-part system. Just look in the factory parts manuals. The spongey rubber part was the 'Weatherstrip' and the U-shaped 'Welt' clipped over one side of it, sandwiching it onto the body seam. Most people don't notice because they can weld themselves together fairly well over time. The two component parts are also on different pages in the factory literature. Many think that the 76801-E4100 RH and 76802-E4100 LH show a one-piece system, but they are missing that the 76920-E4101 Welt A and 76921-E4101 Welt B parts are shown in a separate diagram for the body side. With all of the proprietary off-the-shelf/universal seals the main problem in my experience is that the Weatherstrip part is the wrong shape and/or made from a material which does not compress anywhere near as easily as the original. In my experience this is worst at the front vertical edge of the door where the seal is being asked to compress more than anywhere else, and with nowhere to go. The original Weatherstrip is also a 'flap' cross-section rather than a 'bulb'. The new S30 World versions are the closest to the originals I have seen.

One Way, I'm not sure if it's the same for the '78Z, but my '75Z has two sizes of hoses, 2" and 1.5" (approx.). For the 2" hoses, I used the Dorman 96002 Blower Fan Hose. For the 1.5" hose, which goes to the footwell vents, I used the Dayco 80165 Autoflex Defroster Duct Hose. I hope this helps!
