If I recall correctly, I made one by buying 1/2" round, aluminum bar from Home Depot, cutting to length and using a hack saw and hand held belt sander to make the drive end. Probably 20 minutes of work to make it. Check the 1/2" dimension before buying it though - pulling that from memory.

Here is how mine is set up. Stock seat (with new cover) and replica Datsun Comp. wheel. Looks like my seat is alot furthur back than yours. I'am 6' ht and 200 lbs. I can get in and out just fine (not easy but thats due to age😩) and no interference with wheel. Seat is not all the way back (but close) and driving postion is comfortable.
  3. I'm not sure we filled the oil pump? I will probably start there. I'm not sure we filled the filter either. So I may try those two before I pull the spindle. Thanks for the offer Captain 😉
  4. Would be cool to check out the horn dates on HS30-00004. Seems the horns are pretty darn accurate to production date, and aren’t generally swapped out as easily as other body parts/features David
  5. Hmmm... Should have picked up oil by now. Do you have the spark plugs out? It will spin a lot faster with a lot less load on the starter with the plugs out. Also, the positive displacement style oil pump probably doesn't do a great job pumping air, so I've always primed it before I put it on. Just pour oil into the pump before you stuff it up into place. Not full to the brim, but just enough that you can tilt the pump during install without the oil running over the sides and making a mess. I also pre-filled the oil filter a bunch. Lastly, I've got my oil prime rod that I can send, but I bet you could make something for a lot cheaper than the shipping.
  6. I made mine out of an old paint roller frame. Cut about a foot out, ground down one end to fit in the spindle gear and let it rip. Don't use the drill's HIGH setting without a cover on there.

Wait. I’m a dope. I totally forgot to try sliding the seat back. @SteveE How is instrument visibility with that comp wheel?
  8. Glad to decipher the horns date code to read S 10. October 69. Hoping that’s the real deal..

I use to be 6'-5" and never had that issue with the wheel. I agree, the seat seems to be really close to the wheel. Are the seat rails all the way against the floor bracket? Metal to metal? No plastic spacers in the way?
