And even with just a roll bar, you can still hit your head on it in accident. Make sure you apply padding to the bar - even if you think your head won't go back that far. Unfortunately, I added the padding to my bar AFTER I hit my head on it in an event involving a spin and an impact with a knife-edged curb. Had a headache and neckache for a while after that! I never thought my head would reach the bar but funny things happen when there's enough force - you come up in the belts, your neck and back extend and wham ...
  2. Crossville. Still getting settled in but I expect that I will make some of the area shows like the Nashville Z-Attack at some point ...Wayne
  3. I will miss it for the first time in a number of years - moved to Tennessee last August and won't be trying for the long-distance award ! Last year:
  4. Mine had the same warning when I installed them about 25 years ago. They're still going strong and they give a firmer pedal feel as compared to the stock lines. Goose

I ran a Carter electric pump from about 1977 until just a few years ago - it was noisy new - and it was noisy when it was nearly 30 years old. You could hear the pump when the engine was running -like when you were stopped at a traffic light. I guess the good thing was that you knew you had fuel flowing ! I finally replaced the Carter a few years ago just as a precaution since it was getting so old. I got the Mallery pump - as 240ZX mentioned - it's quiet and they have a pump with a 4psi rating that's perfect for use with carbs...

I bought my 1972 silver w/red interior car new and it had black window cranks.I never cared for the red interior and changed it to black in 1973 ... long before it had a chance to fade to pink !
  7. I'm wondering if they could have been provided by the dealer. Since so many early cars had dealer installed mags, and since so many of those used the shank-type mag lug nuts, you needed 4 standard lug nuts for the spare. I know when I picked up my car in '72, there were 4 standard lug nuts in the storage compartment with the jack and I just figured they were take-offs from the original steel wheels.
  8. Congrats Ron ! I've looked at your Z at a few Motorsport shows and always enjoy it. It's a nice "flashback" to a time when I was still young !!

There is no accelerator pump on an SU so tapping the throttle doesn't do anything. Just pull the choke all the way back and keep cranking ....
  10. Looks great! I'm moving to Crossville later this year so will be just down the road from you. In case I decide to repaint someday - can you provide the location of this Maaco? Is there only one in Knoxville? Thanks

True ... but it sure helped that you had a donor car available with a straight and clean roof !It's looking good Arne ...
  12. I better not take my car there or they won't let 240Zs in the show after that ! Seriously, there are some worthy cars here in SoCal that could make a good showing for us - I hope some of you with the really nice cars attend this event ...

I looked at the 2nd batch of photos in thumbnail view - guess I need to look at the full size images ... duh ...
  14. Cool video but I left a little too early to be included. The acceleration/merge lane that you see in the video is a pretty good 0-60 test track...!

Actually, I think you were talking with me at the time and that's my shadow at your feet. The open hatch with the BRE rear spoiler just to your left is my car !Wayne

Hey Dave - Nice talking with you at the show. KTM - I remember walking by your car as I was checking out all the 240's. I just went to the MSA site and only saw my car a few times with only 1 good pic ... Wayne
  17. Wow. As basically just a wrench-turner myself ... I'm always amazed at what a craftsman can do ...
  18. Going with the same color Arne ?
  19. Yup - the only music I have in my car comes from an L28 .... no radio ! (see pic).
  20. Hi Hanns, Nothing wrong with "more power" ! As we discussed, back in 1977, before 3.1 liter engines and fuel injected turbo L6s, when I wanted "more power" - I added a bit of V-8 juice ! Enjoy the ride (and your's is only about 9.5 seconds !). Wayne
