I've been working in New Orleans since november, and the whole time I was looking for a nice z to buy. About a month ago, I was going to a Walmart, and spotted about a '76 280z 2-seater in very good condition for sale. For the next 3 weeks, I kept putting off stopping and getting the phone #. Well, last week I went past the z, and couldn't beleive my eyes! Some ignorant S.O.FN.B's smashed out all the windows, and torched the whole car! Just My Luck! So much for that one! Those people deserve life in prison!

Nice setup. Did you have to buy differentthrottle adapters to link the carbs together like that, and if so where did you get the parts? thanks

I tried adjusting the bcdd both ways, and got it a little better, but it still does the same thing. I have a broken bolt on my exhaust manifold(rear top one at the head. Could a vacuum leak cause this? I pulled a vacuum hose from the intake manifold, and the idle went up. I am also getting a pretty bad exhaust smell in the car when the window is down.( too rich?)Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  7. It was happening while driving. I figured out what the acceleration problem was. I took the cover off of the throttle pos. switch, and was reving it, and stuck a screwdriver between the left and middle contact, and it smoothed right out. I slightly bent the left contact so it touches the middle contact when I first start to give it gas. Now it accelerates great, nice and smooth. My only problem now is the idle staying up.(my other thread) Still haven't figured that out yet.Tried adjusting bcdd, made it better, but still not right.
  8. The lower rear suspension arms on my 78 280z 2+2 are rusted pretty bad, and I have two 280zx parts cars with good ones on them. Will the zx ones work on the z, if not where can I get good ones?

I was looking at my bcdd, and I felt around on the bottom, and all I could feel is two small screws that I think are phillips (I can't see in too good). Are those the ones I need to loosen. If not,how do I get the bcdd to turn? THANKS

Thanks, I'll give that a try, if I have to, I can take one off of my zx parts cars. I'll see if I can adjust it first. Thanks for the help.

A while back I was having problems with idle and acceleration with my 78 280z. You guys gave me alot of helpful advice, and I managed to get it running really good.(It turned out to be the throttle pos. switch. I took the cover off, and bent the left contact slightly so it made contact right away, and it solved the hesitation problem.) The only problem I have now is when I come to a redlight, or push the clutch in, if the idling is above 1500 rpm, the idle will slowly climb to 3000 rpm. If I wait until the rpm's go down to about 1200, and then push the clutch in, it will stay around 1000 rpm. I checked the linkage and throttle body, and it is closed. When I start it up it idles fine. Any help is appreciated. THANKS
  12. I need a new master cylinder for my 78 280z 2+2. I want to get the whole complete unit new with caps and everything. I've searched the internet and haven't been able to find one. On ebay they had one for 70-7/77, and one for 79-81, but none for the 78. Will any of these other ones work in my car, and if not, where can I get one? THANKS
  13. Does anyone know where I can find a new or NOS brake master cylinder for my 78 2+2? I've searched the web, and the forums, but couldn't find anything. Also would a 79 zx one work on my 78 z? Any help is appreciated.
  14. Thanks for the help. I'll have to replace that dampener, and see what happens. While I'm at it I'm changing all the hard lines and hoses, and flushing the gas tank. The lines are pretty rough looking, and corroded.
  15. I've been having trouble with my 280z running right, I posted a thread, and tried all of the suggestions, but I still have problems. Now when I start it up, it fires right up and idles fine. As soon as I go to give it a little gas it bogs out. If I floor it it stumbles a little, but then revs good. I crawled under to look at the fuel pump, and looked up the part #, and it is the right one, but they bypassed the fuel regulator that was back by the tank.(it was all rusted up) Could this cause it to run too rich, and flood itself out after sitting(see my other thread). Thanks for everyone's comments and advice.
