Push button start works! the new air horns rolling the fenders out...not in all of the coilover collars from A1 and half of the springs from summit right after christmas 05 right after the clutch started to die here is the dash I made for the Pinks guys over at hybridz.org...my dash coming soon
  4. In August 05 the rebuild started when I blew a roll pin inside the tranny(sorry for the blurry photos new brakes with tranny out this is a better pic there is a blurry photo of the tranny apart in my garage the underside damage on the passenger side there is the rear end...blah... inside the bellhousing... new 15x8 diamond racing wheels to cover the bigger brakes another shot a problem...2 exhaust/intake gaskets were stacked.. towel covering the tranny end, new diff isolater, and underside damage
  5. Here I will post any progress on my Z with pictures and videos. Here are some photos from before I bought my Z for $2000 on November 15, 2003 right before I bought the car notice the easter egg under the car (picture taken in september 03) the engine before purchase car had no air cleaners on it towing it home 3/4 mile with a rope and VERY little brakes...had to stand on the pedal to get it to slow down...found it out the hard way. drove the car for a year like this a front shot.

I am already on hybridz.org and zdriver.com but I heard how good y'all are and was recommended by Zrush at ZdayZ this past weekend. I bought my early 74' 260Z that had been sitting under pine trees that were sapping the clearcoat off for 5 years. I bought the car on November 15, 2003. I got it running on that christmas day to where it would drive under it's own power and own gas tank. I drove the car for a year or so without doing much to it but then in August of 05 things went downhill...I blew a rollpin on one of the shift rods on the gearbox side of the transmission soI fixed that. While the car was on jackstands I put in some Toyota 4x4 calipers and new solid crossdrilled/slotted rotors. Then when I was about to go for a drive while putting the 14x6.5 Eagle wheels back on they did not fit. I got new wheels and tires to fit the calipers and then the body was rubbing really bad on the tires. I went crazy and hammered the fenders after rolling the fenders did not work. Then once it was driving again a week later the clutch went out. I ended up getting a Spec Stage 2+ clutch and 11# flywheel and I converted the suspension to adjustable coilovers with QA1 coils and Tokico Illumina adjustable struts. I am now looking for an 81-83 zxt transmission and driveshaft that are in good condition. I may just find a cheap 280zxt and transplant the entire drivetrain into my Z After seeing 240hoke's 240Z at ZdayZ.
  8. When I did a few sections I tried first over paint that was already there and then over a section of bare metal. The section of bare metal turned out best but the paint was not thin enough... I haven't had much time to play with it but the one layer over the bare metal is holding up very well compared to the stuff over old paint...Imay be able to play with it some this weekend and will post some pics if I do. I will post some pics of my bare metal section and a section over paint and bondo...just rolled on with no cleaning other than wiping off any dust.

well it looks like like I bought myself into a hole...My Z is not going to be my daily driver anymore but a weekend warrior/autocross car. I am now running 15X8 Diamond Racing Wheels and am running some pretty tall tires...225/60 and I am about to install my coilover stuff and renew all the rubber with polyurethane and new balljoints. I have notced a good bit of braking difference because I could have the brake pedal to the floor and it would not lockup anything...with 215 width tires...now I have really shortened my braking distance with the new brakes and wider wheels/tires.

I just upgraded to the 79-85 toyota claipers and crossdrilled/slotted rotors from MSA (ripped me off on the price of the conversion kit: remanufactured calipers from any parts store and ss brake lines...$150 of stuff for $3XX something) so I was driving My Z hard on this really curvy road and after about 10 minutes of hard braking and acceleration my brakes began to fade. I want to add sone sort of cooling and Ihave seen some of the ducting on NASCAR and roadracing cars and to me all of that ducting looks like 4in. dryer vent ducting. I have the standard polyurethane air dam with brake cooling ducts and would like th know if this dryer vnt stuff would last or be of any use. I think it would work very well since the box of ducting I have says "fire resistant aluminium duct" it seems to be VERY thick aluminium foil in two layers with a wire spiral form to give it a "frame". let me know if you think this could be a possibility...I am sorta poor but I want to spend the $$$ where it counts...ie. roll bar, camber plates,etc...instead of little stuff that is expensive.

no way...that is a good idea in fact...you just lose all of that safeness of the originals...but with the 240 bumpers your car will be about a foot shorter...
  12. I am a hybridz member and have been keeping up on the several threads about this stuff and have tried it a little bit on my flat black Z...You have to get it pretty thin to roll on correctly. It is suprisingly durable on the section I took down to bare metal but the part that was painted over the layers of blue and black paint from the years is not as durable. I haven't gotten it to the proper consistancy because I just haven't had time to work on my z at all. I think for a Z that doesn't need a $2k or more paint job this is the perfect solution. I am experimenting with black right now and I will post some pictures of my overly-thick and pressed too hard painted sections...not too bad for a first time and vague consistancy refrences..."until it just feels right"...I think the hybridz guys have done a better job at testing this paint theory than those pushrod guys...

I just bought the stoff for my coilover conversion (no camber plates yet) and it cost about $280 for the sleeves, adjusting nut both from A1racing.com, and coils from summitracing.com . you can get any spring rate in coils from summit for really cheap..like $38 each...and free shipping!!!
