Thats dissapointing if thats the case steve as I asked if it was plug and play for a 240z before I bought it, I have contacted the seller about a replacement just waiting to see who pays postage though. I see the back of those modules look different to mine as well, they have two screws on the module whereas mine has one (71 240z) and the size of my module is a lot smaller on the back.

Well it looks like I spoke too soon, new ignition looks to have failed on me after trying it for the second time today, accessories are on but no cranking and I plugged the factory one back in to check and it started with that. I also had taken the module off the back of the factory ignition too have a look inside but bolted it back together after needing it again and now it works like normal.

Quick update, bought a new ignition from ebay and problem solved starts straight away!

Looks like this might be the culprit then, I tested for voltage at the coil and had 0 volts at accessories, 12v at on position and when cranking 0 volts again. Thanks for everyones help I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

I'm not real good with all this electronic stuff so bear with me, so I have a 280zx electronic dizzy with e12-80 module, stock coil and no ballast at the coil, when the car was first on the road after being restored a little over a year ago I don't remember having this problem and dash wires are factory and untouched. So I'm guessing if theres nothing wrong at the coil I may need one of these? Ignition Switch Starter Keys SET Datsun Nissan 240Z 260Z 280Z 510 620 | eBay Here is a pic of the coil

I've got the 280zx electronic dizzy and that's right zed head when I release the key it starts up. It makes it a pain to start especially when it's cold as you do t know when to release the key. I'll check the voltage at the coil while cranking then.

Got a problem on my 240z ignition, if i hold the key to crank it, all it will do is continue cranking but if i release it, it will start.

Hi Dan, I wouldn't say a concours resto but very much a quality resto so I want parts to fit right, I've done the same as you on a few parts on my build, bought aftermarket wasn't happy with the fit so I went with used genuine items. 71 240z build thread http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4438.0.html

I'm thinking of buying a MSA centre console to finish off my resto but can't seem to find any pics of one so I can see the quality, does anyone here have one?

Just finishing restoring my 240z quarter windows but was wondering if sealant is required in the groove where the glass sits, i thought i read somewhere that the FSM says its not required?

Checked all the connections and it now looks like a dodgy fuel pump. In regards to the draining battery I'm told the the 240z amp gauge is constantly drawing on the battery which is why the battery is draining and to upgrade to a 260z volt gauge.

Hey guys need some help with a electric fuel pump thats not working, just finishing the resto on this 71 240z so almost everthing is new including the motor, running a HLH upgrade as well as a MSA 60 amp zx alt. We started the car for the first time at the mechanics no problems then loaded onto the trailer to go back to my place fired it back up to drive it into the garage and all seemed fine, About a week later went to start it and the battery was dead so i charged the battery again which now works fine but the fuel pump doesn't work when I turn the ignition switch on (pump connected via a toggle switch which is on). I've tried a multimeter and tested for 12v at the fuel pump and at the connector under the dash and 0 voltage? Any ideas please?

Does anyone know where to get a new fuel filler tee from, its the tee that attaches to the filler neck, couldn't see any at MSA or Black dragon.

Can't you just use your factory number plate light to get the colour matched for the tail light panels, a bought a NOS one from Nissan and the thats what I'll be doing

    Hmmm, that would look nice in my garage, 2 x 240z's, 1 x 240k = divorce
  23. Thanks for the response guys!
  24. I've got the g machine front and rear delrin offset bushes but I cant seem to find a definitive answer on whether they should be lubed or not. Some forums say they are self lubing? Others use white lithium grease on the inner part of the bushing.

I'd take a set if they can be posted to Australia.
