  1. I'll say this: There is a market for the 70's Z cars and that market will most likely remain and just grow stronger as good example become increasingly difficult to find. Especially in areas like the east coast and up north. A Z wont last too many winters or rainy seasons in those areas. Whereas a Z can sit in a junkyard exposed to the elements in AZ for a decade and come out with nothing more then some spiderwebs and faded paint. If a network were setup to bring quality examples of these cars to areas where they're becoming extinct I think it would do well if set up properly. Fair pricing, true to their description Z's being made available, and a means of getting the cars from the west/south-west to these other areas and doing it cost effectively. You gotta take risks in business. If you want to supply Z cars to the rest of the country then whats it going to hurt to purchase a few good examples and test the waters. You'll get a lot further if you can give people an EXACT idea of what their options are.

I think thats the best suggestion you're going to get unless you can fabricate it yourself. If you did purchase an aftermarket exhaust for the 240 a good exhaust shop will be able to adapt it to fit to the L28 downpipe. It comes down to what is going to be the best option for you money. Consider materials used, cost of fabrication, etc...
  4. I like the first and the la belle. Not really a fan of the box fenders though, not on the S30 anyways. Its too curvy of a car for those. That E-Type sketch would make a nice conversion kit.
  5. I'll second the module failure. When I had my ZX that was probably the hardest problem to track down because it was so sporadic. I carried a spare module in the glovebox because I replaced my bad one with a good junkyard unit.

It's a '74. The previous owner is faxing me a copy of the title either tomorrow or the next day and I take delivery in a couple of weeks. I dont have the VIN on me til then but I'll post it up when I get it. I'm already gathering up some obvious parts I'll be needing though. I miss my turbo but this one should be fun with less nagging from the wife since she's more a fan of the S30's and cant stand the ZX But this will be my first S30 (owned a couple 280zx's). oh, and thanks for the part Alissa

Just thought I'd introduce myself since there's a forum specifically for this. I've been active on ZDriver for a while now and post every now and then on HybridZ. I've been a member here since March, but just recently actually made a couple posts. Proud ex-owner of a 280zx Turbo and the happy new father of a 74 260Z.
  8. Try this for setting max. timing advance: Advance it til the engine starts to act up at idle (it'll start missing). Then back it off til the missing stops. Now rev it up slowly through the rev range. If you have pinging then back off the timing a little til you can get through the entire rev range without pinging. That will give you the maximum advance that you can run off your particular grade of gasoline. But setting the initial timing too high to compensate for a lack of mechanical advance will cause issues. If you set it that far advanced (25-35 degrees) while the engine is turning slowly (idle) then the spark is going to disipate before there is compression. Thats why initial advance is so low and then rises with engine speed.
  9. The P90 is the best flowing L head, out of the box. It has large valves and large square exhaust ports which help it to breath better then any head before it.
