Door trouble - almost fell out :(
Yep now my driver's side door won't latch. I took the inside cover off and got a good look and found this (notice the broken spring hanging in mid air): Also, I found these laying in the bottomof the inside of the door (except the screwdriver). If anyone can identify anything that looks like it might be important I'd appreciate it. This is what the latch looks like from the outside. I've never had the dovetail and the door has always worked perfectly. How do I fix my door not latching problem? Is the spring the cause? I can't even get the old spring out of the door - how do I get to it? Thanks in advance for helping befor I fall out of my car .

brrrrr, it's cold (i.e. NO HEAT!)
This was the problem - re-insert wire and tighten screw = heat again. THANK YOU!!!

brrrrr, it's cold (i.e. NO HEAT!)
Go figure as soon as it starts to approach winter and get cold, my 240 decides I don't need heat. I've had no problems with the heat since I've had the car up until now. Suddenly the other day, I have no heat. The car is warming up normally, coolant is good, tubes all look good, fuses look good, even the hot water supply tube is hot. NO HEAT. Any ideas? What should I check next?

Where'd my coolant go?
Well I just changed the oil & filter last weekend and there wasn't anything unusual about the old oil. The car runs fine. I topped off the coolant and the overheating problem went away. I was just surprised that it took that much.

Where'd my coolant go?
Suddenly yesterday my engine started running much hotter than normal. So first thing I checked was all the cooling system stuff: coolant level (was low, couldn't tell how low), tubes, connections. No leaks. Had the system flushed and filled in the spring. I thought that maybe having filled the system in the spring, then not using the heater until this week caused my level to go down just enough to where it wasn't cooling properly. Turns out I was low by 3 quarts or so! Is this change in level normal for just operating the heater for the first after a coolant fill?

hatch
Nope, all original. although they are in very good shape, they don't look quite as good in real life as they do in the photos (no, no photoshopping going on). The driver's side has a small tear right at the backrest control lever, and a small cigarrette burn (not mine). The passenger's side is near perfect, only a few very small blemishes on the rear, nothing big enough to show up in the photos.

Internet stupidity at it's finest - SVT mechanic gets what's coming
Not sure if this has been posted here (didn't see it). I actually found out about this at the Tribalwar forums - this tells you about how much this incident has spread all over the internet. Most of the big car forums are in on it, and the consequences of this one person's actions could be far reaching. It's a lot of reading, but well worth it. Here's the links: http://65.31.67.109/showthread.php?threadid=29134&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 and http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=19809&perpage=25&pagenumber=1 edit: kant spel.

Pair of Toyota 4 piston calipers, ready for swap! Need to sell!
Would someone care to explain the difference between loaded calipers and four piston calipers to me? When I bought my 240Z, I had my local mechanic inspect it, and the first thing he did to it was replace the front brakes with loaded calipers. Are these as good as the four piston Toyota calipers?

Rear window weatherstripping & molding question
The rubber weatherstripping around the rear window has a channel that holds the chrome molding. In each corner is a separate chrome piece. One of these pieces has popped out and I can't get it to go back in (well I can get it back in but it's not tight like in the other three corners and it won't stay). The rubber on that corner seems a bit worn, but is not cracked. Any help on how to get it back in? Is it salvagable or is it time to replace all of the weatherstripping around my rear window? How hard is this to do and where do I get the parts?

I had this same problem. Try lubricating the throttle linkage with some white lithium grease.

That's a guy named Darius in his 240 with a supercharged LS1 in the bonnet. There's more to that video showing the engine and him racing a street bike and winning!

K&N Air filter systems
As for what ozlime said, considering that my filter system was designed over 30 years ago, a new K&N system has GOT to be better than what I've got now. I already have a free flow exhaust (Flowmaster w/ no resonator) so I think the K&N air intake system should help my car run even better (not that it runs poorly). Can anyone recommend an online vendor?

K&N Air filter systems
I'm considering replacing the stock air filter system on my 240 with a K&N system. I realize that without a lot of other work in the engine compartment (mine is all stock), I'm not going to see a huge gain in performance. Do you guys think it's worth it?

Whats under your hood?

what is the size of the trunk in a 240Z?
Well believe it or not it's big enough to hold my golf clubs (in my golf bag of course), my pull cart, a cooler that holds a 12-pack, and golf shoes. Not bad for such a small sports car.
