Carb linkage cleaning
It's possible that my linkage for my SU's are a bit gunked, causing me idle problems. Cleaning the linkage should be an easy enough affair, and I always say (in reference to working on cars) try the easiest solutions first. What should I use to clean the linkage? Is there some kind of spray I can buy or do I have to actually do it by hand? Also, what's the best lubricant for after I clean it?

Strange idling behavior?
I ordered the SU video from ZTherapy and the syncrotester from MSA. Is there anything else this newb needs to get my carbs right (assuming they're not far out)?

Stereo for 240
2manyZ's is getting warmer. What I'm really looking for here is what HU's will fit w/o cutting. I guess I wasn't clear. Read the top post and you'll see I've been to Crutchfield and searched for a compatible HU and got ZERO results. Does this mean there is no HU out there that will fit w/o me cutting? As for location, I currently have speakers mounted in the bottom front portion of the doors. Would this be the most desirable location for speakers? If that's the case my upgrade is going to be a snap (for speakers anyway).

Strange idling behavior?
Ok I've been thinking about getting the ZTherapy SU video for a while now. I would really like ot be able to tune my carbs by myself instead of having to depend on someone else for it. Good call, I'll get it ASAP.

Getting new tires
I just put new rubber on my 14"x 5" slot mags 2 days ago - Bridgestone Potenza RE950 195/60/14. I went with 60's instead of 70's to lower the car a bit. I haven't had a chance to put them through their paces yet but I can tell you they are very quiet and have a reat ride. They feel better then my old Michelins! Go to www.tirerack.com and read the reviews. BTW if you search by tire size at TireRack, you'll find plenty of tires to choose from, and you can read user-reviews for each tire. Anything you find there, just ask your local dealer for his price, installed. You can figure on adding $20 or so per tire over the price at TireRack.

Strange idling behavior?
I've noticed some wierd idling behavior lately in my 240. If I start the car, let it get fully warmed up, let out the choke, and let the car idle, it idles right where it sohuld - 700-750 rpm. Bit after I drive the car, then idle, it idles at 1100 or so - it won't go any lower than 1000. Can someone explain why this is happening? Is it a problem? Should I adjust my idle speed based on idling after driving? The carbs could probably use a tune, but even as is, the car runs VERY well. One other thing that has concerned me since I bought the car was gas consumption - I average 15mpg. Thoughts and help are always appreciated.

Stereo for 240
sigh - I wasn't asking about speakers or speaker location. I want to know what HU's people are using in their 240's - specifically an in-dash cd player/receiver. I already have a 12 disk changer installed (FM modulated), but the HU is very old and needs to be updated. Yes I am going to replace the speakers too. What speakers I replace the old ones with will depend on the HU though, so that is where I am starting. But since I'm on the subject - what speaker location do you all use in the back of your Z? Do you use the stock location that points the speakers right at each other (and not towards the front) or do you use something like the box system that MSA sells. I figured the rear speakers pointing towards the front is obviously a better setup, and a box for them would be easy to build.

Stereo for 240
ok I know I said I might not put in a new stereo, but might not also means might. So I went to Crutchfield to see what in-dash cd player/receiver will fit in my car and got zero results returned. Can I get some feedback as to what cd player/receiver you people are using? I'm not looking for a monster system, just something current that I will be able to hear over my new exhaust system ::.

new exhaust - banging?
! Dude, I've been driving around all day and the same exact thought crossed my mind. I'm already in love with this sound. When I level out the throttle it sings to me - it actually lets out a guitar type feedback sound, like it's singing. When I let off the gas it grumbles like it's pissed we're slowing down. My next upgrade was going to be a stereo but now I'm not sure . The one thing that is really starting to worry me though is, am I going to get pulled over for noise? I have to be VERY careful with the throttle or else it sounds like you're at a drag strip . And btw I found the source of the banging. My exhaust man forgot to bolt the tailpipe hanger to the nylon hanger - oops. He got an earful today . edit: oh yeah - it sounds nothing like rice, in fact I don't think it's even got the "European tone". My exhaust guy swore my engine wasn't stock when I fired it up after he got done. The sound is very deep at the low end of 1st and 2nd gear, then goes high at 3500 to 4000 rpm when I step into it. Under regular acceleration it smooths out very quickly from the low growl and almost disappears. I'm going to try to get a good quality sound sample of it - would anyone be interested in hearing this?

new exhaust - banging?
Possibly. I had this setup installed with the thought of installing a resonator later if I thought I needed it. Too soon to tell right now though, I have to drive it a while to see if I like/dislike it.

new exhaust - banging?
I don't think so. I think I didn't describe it correctly. It's more of a pop-pop-pop sound. Backfiring would be like an M-80 going off - it's nothing like that.

new exhaust - banging?
Hey guys, I had my new exhaust system installed yesterday - 2 1/4" pipe w/ Flowmaster muffler, stainless tailpipe, and no resonator. My first impression of the sound was "HOLY SH_T!". It's loud! Much louder than the old system. But it does sound very nice. I have a question tho - is this type of setup supposed to sound like it's backfiring? Under deceleration it sounds like it's backfiring. And under low accel conditions it has a nice low growl, but when I stomp on it, it has a high tinny sound - very different from the low accel condition. I guess this is the "turbo" effect? Unfortunately I have to bring it back because the tailpipe isn't centered in the car's exhaust opening at the rear, and the damn thing is banging against the opening. :|

Can you see them?
Yep. April seems to be the hot month. I'm adding events as I find them in my spare time, so if there are events that I've missed, or you know of an event that's not on the calendar, please feel free to add it. Thanks!

Can you see them?
I recently moved a number of private calendar events to public. I want to make sure the moved worked like it should. Would someone mind verifying that they are visible? Thanks.

she has style
I couldn't agree more. I'm completely in love with my Z. I can't explain why except to say that "it's me".

Center caps - help me understand
Well there's nothing worng with the caps that are on there now per say. They're clean and scratch free. They're just not original. No biggie - I can live with it for now.
-
Center caps - help me understand
Well I guess the point is kind of mute since MSA just told me they don't have the Z emblems (which you have to buy separately :| ) for the center caps in stock, unless someone else knows where I can find 3 3/16" Z center caps.

Center caps - help me understand
My 240 has slot rims with some off brand center caps that I want to replace with Z caps from MSA. The caps that are in there right now are sort of rigged to stay in place with a cardboard ring behind then that keeps them snug. I'm pretty sure the hole diameter is the right size for the caps they have, but what I'm not sure of is how they attach or which type I should use, or if they will work at all. They have two types - screw on and clip on. I know the backs of my rims don't have any holes for screws, so I guess I'd have to tap them, but they are not very thick. Should I use the clip ons? How exactly do they work? What do they clip on to?
