It is listed as PN# 55417-E4100 washer-special D qty of 4 needed. Am I just getting older and my eyes don't see it there. Could someone help me here and tell me where this washer is used. It is the one part that is holding me back from placeing my order. Any help would be great, Dan

  4. hey peter, I'm down by Lindsay and have my 72 in the garage and I scored a intact shell and parts for it the day before the first snow but did manage to get it covered in time. Now the wife is suggesting we look into building a shop for me and my cars( her idea, and who am I to say no to that). Have a good one all Dan

Hey all, Ok here's the situation, I have a 71 and 72 240...the 71 shell is in restoreable shape, as in solid shell all around fenders, quarters and doors all smooth, hood and hatch both have rust holes starting..but all suspension and undercarriage parts are pretty rusted up but salvageable, now the 72 has major r/r quarter issues, have all replacment metal parts to repair but came across the 71 in a "garage find" recently made the guy an offer of 1500.00 for shell and numbers matching engine with 66,000 miles( motor was inspected buy respected z mechanic and verified that had minimal wear) but needs a teardown as it has sat for too many years, 2 4 speed trannys and and some pretty rough looking interior parts. Now I know I can easily swap out the hood and hatch, correct? Can I also swap engine from 72 into 71, I assume yes, I would like to put the 5 speed tranny I have in it, now will I have issues with driveline and diff, as I have read that the diff mount was move back, I do have both 71 and 72 driveshafts. Also I was hoping to get as much headsup on any other things that might give me swapping problems, as alot of the 72 parts will be in the 71. I have almost all the 72 undercarriage parts blasted and painted ready to be installed, and I would save the 71 parts as spares. I know I should have wiring harness differences etc. but all in all most parts are should swap fine. Would appriecate and help on this as I've read through alot of the archives but have not been able to find the answers to some of my questions. I know here some will come to my rescue cause the goal is on to be on the road by August 08. thanks all
  6. I would be interested too....I'll be looking for many other fasteners that are no good or lost by previous owner( or should I say not properly cataloged) so I'm missing or replacing many..

  11. like many others I really have always like the Riken mesh....I was 14 or 15 when these cars first came out and always had my heart set on one...had a 260 about 15 years ago...kick myself for selling it... I know they are hard to come by and if you find them you have to be quick.. Thanks again did somemore reading and I got a handle on things now Dan
  12. thanks tons...was just doing the serch now and Have done alittle more reading and getting it now...:knockedou ...I'll have a look at those threads thanks again Dan
  13. I'm hoping I can get some help here...I'm kinda out of it when it comes to this stuff..don't quite have a full understanding, so before I get new wheels or some old school mesh rims preferably...I have stock hubs and the factory manual says ( disc wheel dimensions are 14 x 1-1/2 J with 15mm (0.59 in) offset and hub bolt pitch diameter is 114.3 (4.5 in) I'm looking at a set that is 4 x 3.93 or 4 x 100 bolt pattern and I assume these are no good... I have also read on the net the most of the old school mesh wheels of clearance problems( spacers need?), and also I've seen them for sale saying 0 offset will fit 70- 78 Datsun... if the manual says 15mm offset how can that be. I know stupid questions

Hey guys, I have a guy looking for seats...since I have 2 sets I was looking to help him out...but I have know idea how much would be a fair price...he's only looking for one, but I'd prefer to sell as set..they are both in good shape, one or two small tears, but all in all decent..I don't want to make big money just fair to me and him....any help would be great. thanks Dan
  15. Carl, I completely understood what you were saying...maybe it was just the way I phrased it( canadian accent)...anyways,yes the threaded end was toward the body of the car both sides...and from research I understood the the threaded end was facing the ground, but not in my case....and knowing the pin was tapered I was concerned I might jam it stuck.. To me I would think the threaded end should face the ground since the taper is wider at the other end so in case of loss of nut the taper should keep it wedged in place( I hope ). The only thing I really want is to make sure they are installed correctly..
  16. Hey guys...well got the job done and it was easy..no puller needed, just a couple of taps with the rubber mallet and lock bolt popped out and same with the spindle... now the interesting part ....when I bought the car the guy told me he had just replaced all rearend suspension with "poly kit"..no problem he also gave me the rest of the kit to do front suspension etc. what he did, and this is why I originaly started this thread, is he replaced the lock bolt threaded end up(which to my understanding is wrong, correct?) and I also found 2 of the poly bushings crushed and split so they will have to be replaced..he also did the same on the other side(threaded end up). Correct me if I wrong...but from what I read I think I'm right now....
  17. Great...thanks guys...good to know that others are willing to put their thoughts down too...so, now to hope it doesn't give me grief getting it out,if so I'll take it to get it pressed out... the issue is , the gut I bought the car from claimed he replaced all bushings etc. in the rear but I have my doubts on that cause the spindle pin and lock bolt do not look like they have been removed and if he had they should disassemble easy....not the case...so while the car is completely apart I might as well be sure thanks for the input and be sure I'll bve back with more question in the future and I just might take up the offer on the pin remover...if your willing to send it to the great white north... Dan
  18. awsome..thought that was the way to go...have been liquid wrenching it all day...my give it a try in the morning...thanx for the quick answer...you can always count of on that here
  19. I know this a silly question but before I tackle the spindle pin I want to be sure I'm removing the lock bolt in the right direction.....being tappered does it remove from bottom up and out or top(threaded end) down bottom... I know thes a rookie question but better save then sorry any help would be great Thanks
  20. I'm in for 2....
  21. No, unfortunatly it did not come with the jack and tools and chocks...saw one on ebay the other day the whole set went for 41.00 US..and I missed it, probably note the right production date but it would be nice to have the full set in nice shape...thanks for the info...will keep this in the memery banks..
  22. thanks for the onfo Carl...once again this site has come through for me... thanks guys.....more questions in the future as the restore continues I'm sure Thanks Dan
  23. now after rereading Carl's post me thinks it's an original engine.....this makes me very happy.....
  24. the engine serial # is 093518, it is a "completely" rebuilt engine so I am guessing it is not the original....and I figured it had to be a late 3/72 or early 4/72.... again thanks for the responses
  25. Oh ya that really helps...found the spot a zhome and looks like 4/72 is about right...or very close... thanks again
