There's Rod's discount datsun parts in south San Jose. He has both new and used parts available and is a nice guy also. I have bought stuff from him for over 20 years!
  2. Usually white smoke indicates water in the combustion process. Blue smoke would indicate oil consumption, usually. Mark

I also have 2 other options, both 14". I have a set of Shelby Vipers I was planning to put on my Roadster but now I'm having second thoughts, and a set of Enkei 92's that are currently on a 1200. If I do decide to go with one of these, I would imagine a silver/pewter color would go best with an orange car. Mark
  5. Turn around was about 2 1/2 weeks including ship time. I would give them a call , it all depends on how busy they are. Let me tell you, it seem like plating shops in general are getting harder and harder to find due to EPA regulations, espically those dealing with heavy metals! I also know of a good (read not cheap, but fair) chrome plating shop in San Jose if you are interested in it. they did some great work on some pretty janked up stuff for my SPL311. Mark
  6. Not sure where you are located, but I just had a batch of parts re-cadded for a Datsun roadster I am currently restoring. The shop is called: Industrial Plating Company 803 American Street San Carlos, Ca 94070 Ph # (800) 477-1048 www.indplate.com They are located in the San Francisco bay area. They charged me $250.00 to redo just about all the originally plated items on my car. I had a bright cadmium plating done on my stuff and am mostly happy with the outcome. The finish does not match exactly with the original finish, but is close enough. It was my fault for not asking their oponion, I just stated I wanted a cadmium finish and they came back grey! They were nice enough to put the bright finish on for a minimal cost which somehow gives it the yellow/gold tint to it. Mark

I would like to get some feedback regarding wheels and tires. I have an original 73' 240 that is in beautiful "unrestored" condition (1 repaint, in the 80's sometime) Here is my "dilema", do I keep the stock hubcaps, which I am somewhat afraid of getting damaged, due to what seems to be a high replacement cost, or do I take them off and store them away and buy a set of Rewinds? I love the look of the Konig's (and the price), but at the same time, you just do not see a lot of Z's rolling with stock hubcaps. If I do decide to go with the Rewinds, do the 15"ers look that much better then the 14"ers? Seems the 14" wheel/tire package would cost about $300.00 less but I think it may look better with 15" wheels. What do you think? BTW, I bought this car last year from a guy named Joe Heine. The guy sure seemed to have babied the car and really took good care of it! Any feedback on it's history if you knew of it? Hope to meet some of you at the MSA show. Mark
