    And bad weather. ;-)

I just installed a '77 L28 with the 5 speed into my '73 240z. Fit nicely. I am running my '71 SU and headers. I still have to connect the exhaust from the 280z car into my 240z. I can't wait.
  4. A friend of mine suggests using good ole USPS for shipping worldwide. Easier on the customs paper work.
  5. Does anyone have an opinion on Suspension Tech Springs?
  6. what bushings? and are you taking the part off the car? Shouldn't be very much if you just bring in the part removed from the car. If you lived close by, I would just say swing by and I would press them out for you.

Settled, will be removed. I am working on striping items that are not needed.

I would like to know if I can remove the cooling system that loops through the carbs? Actually, the system has already been removed, but I have it bypassing the carbs. This is in SoCal, so cold weather is not really a factor. This is on a 73 240z with 4-screw SU carbs on a 77 L28 engine. Will it hurt if I remove the bypass hose completely, that is the hose running from the thermostat housing to the heater return tube? How can I cleanly tie the heater hoses back into the return?

If you are able to install the exhaust, you could look at ones from Motorsport Auto. They are under the performance areas. This one should really close to being stock. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=15-6302&Category_Code=PEC07

But that would take the fun out of fixing mine up. Mine is getting there, but since it is also a daily driver, it takes a little longer to restore. It is currently down at the moment for an engine change. I have water in the #6 cyl. so I am swapping out the engine with a L-28. I am going to keep my SUs though. I am also installing the 5 speed tran.

If you wanted to drive down to San Diego, you might be able to get the following 2 shops to help you. http://www.classicdatsun.com/ http://www.zwhizz.com/ BTW, really nice looking Z, I wish mine looked that nice. Garry
  12. I purchased a aftermarket electric fuel pump for my 73 240z from Autozone for about $20. This is the one that there computer says works. I haven't had any problems with it at all running round top SUs. They wanted to take about 2-3 weeks to special order the stock mechincal pump. Garry

Thank you guys. I won't bother to fix or replace it then. I will actually pull it out and plug the hole.

I have the manual tranny in it. I also have a set of 4 screw SUs installed. I am also in the process of removing parts from my 73 that are not either working or not needed. Thanks in advance.

Does this mean no one knows what this sensor is? I am not talking about the sending unit for the temp. guage.

On a '73 240Z, what is the water sensor on the thermosat housing for? The sensor with 2 wires coming out of it. I assume the one with a single wire is for the water temp guage. One of the wires has broken off really close to the sensor. To close to be able to fix. Thanks.
  17. Thanks 2ManyZs. I think I will save myself the trouble and not install them. I bought a 77 for the engine and tranny. I thought I would check to see what other parts I could swap out. The guy told me that the springs and shocks were almost brand new before he parked the car. oh well.
  18. Can I install a set on eibach springs from a 77 280z onto my 73 240z? What issues might I have with this swap? If not, what kind of price can I get for the springs on Ebay?

How much does DashRestoration charge for the 240Z dash? Do they give an estimate before hand or what till you ship it to them first?
  20. I have a 73 with the stock flattop carbs on it. I was thinking about going to the round top SUs. Are the round top SUs from a Rodster compatible with a 240Z? Or do I need to stay with the SUs from a 240Z. And do I need to or should I also change out the intake manifold? What are some of the things that I need to keep an eye out for when doing the switch.

Do you have a extra gas tank that is good shape for a '73? where are you located at also?
  22. atomrat posted a post in a topic in Open Discussions
I was not sure where this should be posted, so I posted it here. I have a stock '73 240Z, I was wondering what kind of gas mileage I can expect? I have not started to drive it yet. Still have to get the gas tank repaired.

I have '73 240z with a gas tank that has a few holes in it. I am about to go to the junkyard to look for one that is in better condition. I was wondering how much changed on the gas tanks and other body parts on the 70s Z cars.

Could you please post what you have left? Is this south bay in San Diego County? You can send an email to: atomrat@yahoo.com
  25. Are the water jackets on the Hitachi Flattop carbs needed. I just bought a 73 240Z that needs all the hoses replaced, I was thinking of blocking the water jackets off. Will this hurt anything that anyone can think of?
