  1. My name is Rev.Victor Webb and yes I'm a minister. I grew up with racing, mainly SCCA, stock car and drags. My uncle races SCCA Nissan and owns a Z shop so that was my main street legal background. I own a '70 240Z vin# 001811 (one of the first). I'v done some rally type cars in Canada for other people and now plan to do mine as a touring car.I know some and am more than willing to share my knowledge and so far have learned much more on this site.Thanx -Rev
  2. Another problem is the location. They use alot of salt on the roads over there and this will lead to rust in every nook and cranny under the car. As suggested, if you have the time and money go to a rust free state (usually in the mid-west) because it sounds like you are dealling with a rarity issue. Most cars don't last more than a few years without rust in the north. And yes, for $8900 the car should be in excellent condition. I paid $500 for my '70 240 and it has little rust and none on the structure.Good luck.

Have you considered Hammerite? Its very good once it sets up and it has glass fibers in it. This makes it heavy but it works well. I Know of several places that use it on frames for muscle car resto. It does not reduce sound and takes a while to fully cure but it may be an alternative. It also does not require as much prep work as it chemically bonds to the metal. This stuff will even set up in gas.

Another thing to do is to got some Plumbers caulk, it's like sticky grey plado and plug the holes. Just as the POR is getting tacky, remove the caulk and then let set. It worked for me when I was Z-Bart ing cars in Florida. It should work the same. -Rev
  5. I need a Ignition switch and a combo light swith if ya got 'em for a '70 240.

The shoulder part is seperate. The question is not stupid. The metal piece of the lap belt has a slot in it inside the loop on the strap. You need to squeeze the shuolder part into that point and insert it into the slot. It is safer with the shoulder strap attached but limits mobility because it is not a retractable type.

Rev here, I agree with you on this, that is why I like the Porsche and Mercedes clubs ( the official ones). They require that the cars be driven to be entered and yes, my idea of beauty is a car that is recognizable at a glance and shows use. Too many of the new cars all look alike. Another thing is the graphics, too many of the newer cars look like they should be hanging in a art gallery for bad art (or good child art). The true beauty (I think) is best shown as the car is driving down the road. One last thing, as long as you like the car and you do it your way, who cares about what someone else thinks. Beauty is all a point of view.

Hi y'all. I'm new to the site (just signed on) and was suggested to say Hi. I have a '70 240Z. Its all stock except for a 5 speed tranny and older American Racing wheels. It has some rust and a snot-load of minor problems, though it is a very strong runner.I grew up around Z cars as my uncle owned a Z shop for years (and probably still does). My favorite thing about the Z is the fact that I can blow those hot-rod Hondas off the freeway at will and do so without the use of computers and fuel injection. The only thing (and I mean ONLY) I have a problem with is a very Stiff suspension (bad back),but this is outwieghed by the car itself so it doesn't really matter. So long for now.

What part of Florida are you in? I used to live in Orlando and Know of a decent source that may still be there. It used to be called "The Z Shop" owned by Frank Webb in Winter Park. He may still be there and specializes in Z cars and Nissan. He also races SCCA and is quite knowledgeable. Hope this helps. Also, beware of "beach cars" as they will have rust in many not-so-visible places that may cause quite a shock when you dig into the car. If you have the time and resources, look into the mid-west for cars as the dry air causes little rust and prices are good.

Another place to check is the fuel. If the carbs are dumping too much fuel it may wash past the rings causing low pressure. I recently purchased a '70 240 that had this problem. An easy way to check is to feel the oil consistancy,if it's watery that would be a problem. By the way, I am new to the site, so Hello.
