The ever feared emissions test...
Darb, Find a friendly mechanic, and bribe him with alcohol. I took my 72 into a muffler shop just south of Indianapolis to get my new exhaust installed and they threatened to turn me over to the authorities because I did have a catalytic converter on my car. I reminded junior that it was a 1972 and they were not required. Nice.

battery poles
$100 later at the local Interstate dealer, and she remained stock with the positive pole next to the big, metal, electrical conductor.

battery poles
Going to Interstate to pick up a new battery today. Am I a victim of all the drugs I did in college or are the poles reversed on the battery to keep the positive pole away from the metal fender? Did I dream it or does the Z take a reversed pole battery? Thanks, Eric

New hood
In another thread I asked about hoods and it was recommended that I contact the local Nissan dealer. I did that and was quoted $450.00. Is this good, bad or indifferent? That would probably be about the same with shipping from MSA. Thanks all

BRE Air dam
Any recommendations on a BRE type air dam for my 72? I decided I was going to put a smaller lip spoiler/air dam on the front. I noticed MSA carries them with and without vents. Are they the best place to get one, or has anyone found a better place? Also, probably gonna replace my hood as well. Since I'm not racing I was thinking of sticking with the metal one. Any rec's on where to buy one? Thanks, Meanie

I was only looking for a motor, bought the whole car.
Great grab Dave. You should get my request in the mail for the parts we discussed next week.

Officially a 240z owner!
Link works now. She definitely needs some love, but congratulations and welcome to the family Cutlass. As 240znz mentioned you really need to get it in general running order and drive it a lot. She will tell you a lot, if you will just listen. BTW, You need to change your screen name, unless you are a pirate of course. In that case "Aye, congratulations and welcome t' the family. Ye'll ne'er get me buried booty me bucco!"

She's finally painted! Pictures
Looks great! And your thought is correct about being the only Z at car shows. Mine is always the only one, but she definately gets a lot of attention. Enjoy!

Watch my Z video!!!
Helen Wheels 1973 YIKES! Had the fam at a baseball game the other night and they played the Beatles "Birthday" song. At that moment, I looked at my wife and said; "do you realize that song is 40 years old"? Man I feel old!

Watch my Z video!!!
As long as we are discussing the musical selection, a little Paul McCartney and Wings "Helen Wheels" during the slide would have been pretty cool!

paint cracking
I noticed an area where the paint looks like it is starting to crack on my roof. Apparently I didn't sand well enough during prep. Does anyone know of a good compound or wax I can buff into it, so I can "hide" it till garage season and get it done right? It's hard to see, but I know it is there and it is driving me nuts! Thanks all.

Maaan am I embarassed...
What is it with kids thinking the Zs are Porsches? I've had that too. And to the bike thing...GOOOOOOOD LUCK! Cars and bikes don't mix. You might have had a chance if he missed a gear, but otherwise, the bike goes bye-bye.

ebay 240 #797
I see what you mean about the hinge. Yikes! At least the guy was straight forward enough to pull up the carpets and show the floor. I bet those frame rails are gonna need some love too! $2,800 not that bad for a 700 project. Clinton cattle futures? That is too freakin funny! Maybe Martha Stewart's got a hot tip?

Watch my Z video!!!
