I can't seem to get the carbs right. I know I screwing something up. I also can't seem to find anyone in or around Indianapolis that will work on them. I get the same terrified reaction from each person I call.
  3. Hey Jackboxxx, Thanks man! I took it to the Maaco of South Indy. I also told them I wanted the jams, hatch and underhood all done. It was included with my estimate. They guy liked my Z. He said the only bad spot he saw was where one of my daughter's friends hit it with her bike.

The brackett coming off the back is from the 73 and later I believe. My 72 just has the 2 screws and it doesn't work. Thinking about geting something aftermarket. Any suggestions?

Has anyone put a 32/36 K688 kit on a Z? I really want to get rid of my side draft Hitachis. From what I have read the DGV kits mount right up to the existing hardware with no fabrication. Any input is appreciated.
  7. I took my Z to the local Maaco guys this morning. All mine really needs now is a little prep, sanding and paint. They quoted a really good price for their best paint. The owner also promised that my Z would be locked inside the building without me even asking him to.
  8. Friend of mine used Maaco to finish his restoration on a 1980 X11 Citation. He didn't get the "mega" paint job and it still looks pretty damn good. They do body work, the door jams, under hood etcetera as well.

LMFAO! My daughters would only make it worse! My old girl is going to the paint shed in a couple weeks. Really leaning towards Blue Ocean Pearl (Audi). Nice deep metallic blue. After painting, I think I'll pay my girls just to stay away from it! !

4 tires, spare, two doors, and a hatch. Front windshield, rear hatch glass, two crank side windows. Driven to Vegas every other weekend. Does this help Ron? :cheeky:

Gorgeous, but black scares the hell out of me. Had a few black cars in my day. Look great when they are clean, but damn try keeping them that way! BTW Love the Blue wires. Taylor 8mm pros? Put those on mine. Really look good under the hood!
  12. Here here about technical no-way how. Always a pleasure talking with the guys at Z Motorsport. I'll have to check out cybersanford just for the name! I was talking with Aaron at Motorsport about a Weber DGV kit to replace my hitachis and the next day I actually got an email from Weber asking if they could answer any additional questions. I thought that was pretty cool of Aaron to tell the Weber guy I was interested in their products. Anybody here put the DGV kit on a carb'd Z? Seems pretty easy and is supposed to bolt right on to the existing hardware.
  13. Black Dragon or Z Motorsport "www.Zcarparts.com". I've ordered parts from both and been very happy. If you order from Z Motorsport tell Aaron, Eric from Indy says "hey".

    1. Striping to bear metal 2. Removal of minimal rust and glassing small spots in wheel wells or welding in new metal 3. Painting entire car deep metallic blue, with two 6 inch white Dayton stripes down the hood. Estimates ranged from $10,000 (US) down to $3,500 (US) The low estimate is actually from a guy that builds show cars for a living. He told me the 10K was nuts and was just trying to rip my head off. I don't do body work and I didn't want to learn on my Z. The low estimate is going to have my car for 3-4 months where the high was just a month. I can wait 2 months for $6,500!
  15. Dude! You are killing me! You know what date that is? There is this wacky little thing we do around Indy ever year about this time for oh I don't know, maybe 90 years! Man I'd love a Z cruise and it supposed to 90 and sunny on Sunday. Crap! Maybe I can hit the next one if mine's not in the paint shed. Good luck, hope you guys have fun! CRAP!!!

Ebay here brother! Hell they even threw in a free XM receiver!
  17. Might try a timing light. That is the easiest way to check it. As for it dying, it could be a carb problem and they just might need adjusting. I would also take a peek at your fuel filter. That could be clogged and not letting gas through.

I'm curious whatever happened to my 73 240. HLS30125656. Is it bad that I still remember my VIN 20 years later?

Smoke is gray or grey. Wanted to cover my bases. I'd hate to make two errors on the same thread. :stupid:

The 71's and 72's use the same tach. The 73's had the different prongs.

I' probably gonna do blue as well. Going to see the paint guy next week. Thinking about a deep metallic speed blue with two white Daytona stipes down the hood and hatch.
  22. Can't you pay someone to do that?

I'm looking for suggestions. After my 240 has been driven and is then turned off, I get one loud gunshot out of the exhaust. It runs fine, doesn't seem to have any backpressure. I have recently tuned the car up (plat plugs, wires, points, condenser, rotor, coil, dist cap) and the timing is balls on. It's just annoying and it frightens school children. Any ideas where to look?:stupid: Thanks!
  24. I always thought BRG was an MG color?

When I started stripping my Z I found out that the hood had been replaced. I was sanding and I hit green. I thought What the hell is this? Bondo is pink! Turned out that the hood of my Z came from a hideous green Z. Fortunately, everything else matched with the original VIN.
