Aggressive throttle
Until reading this thread, I was thinking that it was just me who was having initial reluctance with their 240z throttle control, when accelerating from idle. After much time spent cleaning ball joints, making adjustments etc. with minimal improvement. I now have high hopes that the information gathered here will finally resolve what has been a real PITA problem for me. Thanks to all for your input. cheers

Engine Bay Inspection Lamp Markings
Just a small question for all the Z gurus. As mentioned on other posts many electrical items have stamped on them something that is indicative of the production source and date. On my engine bay inpection lamp securing arms I found the following: Lower Lug has stamped : MOz. Upper Lug has stamped : 2 Japanese symbols. Does anyone have any idea of what is meant by them and are there any differences with anyone elses? The stampings are easy to read with a light polish of the lug area around the securing screws. :beard:

Very rare 240Z emblem
The badging on my Australian delivered HS30 00145 has a white Z. Maybe the Aussie delivered models differed in that they did not reach our shores until 1970. Cheers Dazza

We made the cover!!
It is great to see the 240Z getting featured on the cover page. Just for info: The following U.K. magazines have also done articles on the 240Z. Thoroughbred and Classic Cars: April 2000: "Datsun 240Z - The Japanese sports car with desirability that defies it's badge". Practical Classics: May 1999: 240Z, 260Z, 280Z - "Datsun 260Z - Orient Express". Practical Classics: December 1994: Datsun 240Z's 25th Birthday".

Mmmm....love that smell of gas
Hi Craig, Like you, I have spent many hours trying to come up with solutions to stopping the gas smell on my 1970 Zed. I have done just about everything possible, with some varying degrees of success. The last thing I tried was to replace the non original rear hatch rubber with a factory spare, which has improved the situation considerably. The original replacement rubber was not cheap, but the reduction in gas smell is worth it. Cheers Dazza

Stolen Cars
Something I came across years ago, is still very effective today. It is simple, cheap and it works. Instead of just putting in a hidden switch that opens the circuit to one of the coil leads, to stop the car from being started. A better idea is to take it one step further and use this switch to not only open circuit the coil wire first-off, but to also provide a new circuit to the coil via a low amperage slo-blo fuse. The theory here is that the car-jacker will be briefly able to start the car, then when the fuse blows and it will not re-start, he will think it is a problem with the car and not an anti theft device and hopefully give up.

240Z in Malaysia
Hi there Trex, It is great to hear from another 240Z fan here in Malaysia. For the 4 months I have been here (in KL and JB), I have been actively keeping a look out for a 240Z, but have yet to come across any. During my infrequent short trips home (Australia), I make it a point of spending at least a full day touring and enjoying the drive in my 240Z, before it goes back under wraps in the garage. I would be interested to hear from you about the "local" 240Z scene. Cheers Dazza
