When I removed mine, I noted the factory had glued every square inch of each piece, had to be careful pealing off the small edges without tearing, and did not trim anything when they went back on. That little piece on the end can be confusing on how it fits. Bonzi Lon
  2. Blue is a 73, black is a 70. The over riders on the 70-72 will be in line with the hood line, the 73 over riders are set inward a few more inches. The 73 will use the large bumper brackets, 70-72 look like strap steel. The 73 bumper is a little larger in all directions to place the rubber inserts on the sides & a flat metal piece that fits between the two, it makes the 73 bumper stick out about 3-4 inches more. 3. There is a powder coating shop just 2 blocks away, maybe I should go talk to him. Bonzi Lon

Come on guys, haven't you ever heard of 'Art Cars'? Houston has a huge following. These are 'works in the making'. Remember, Van Gough never sold a painting in his lifetime, and most thought Pablo Piccaso was demented. Bonzi Lon

It is considered a low tech cruise control, hand operated, no return springs, the brakes won't turn it off in an instant when you need it to. They are a novelity that can make driving a little un-nerving. Try one, you will see what I mean. Bonzi Lon

I would suggest leaving the hand throttle in its place but DO NOT hook it up. I have one on my Roadster, and you can get into trouble with it REAL fast. I no longer play with that knob. Welcome. Bonzi Lon
  8. To prime my fuel system when fully dry from tank to carbs, was to remove the valve cover and manually work the fuel pump arm until the bowls filled. This way you can see if the fuel pump works without starter / engine noise, you can see the fuel go into the fuel filter and it will help spot any small leaks in the system before firing up. 9. Several days ago when the weather was nice I wanted to get the Z out for a drive. Fired up fine, out of the garage to warm up, lets look under the hood. Pulled like always, and the entire handle and about a foot of cable came with it. I knew what had just happened. Lucky for me, 6 years ago, one of the first forum posts I ever read on a Z-car was about the hood opening cable breaking and the problems involved in getting it open again. Smartly, I installed an extra cable in case this ever happened. I am surprised it let loose, however I think the hood has been opened more in the past 6 years than the first 33 years of its life. 10. When mine failed, like yours, I replaced it with a new one & got a kit just in case. Bonzi Lon
  11. 'Pass Time', 6pm central. Drag racing, guess the ET, win the CASH. Hosted by 'The Big Swagg', the voice of 'Monster Garage'. Saturday morning starting at 7am Eastern, 'Power Block', several shows worth watching. 'Trucks', 'Gearz', 'Hot Rod TV', etc. 'My Classic Car' with Dennis Gage, 'Car Crazy' with Barry McGuire. I know there are more. I refuse to watch anything with 'Pimp My' in the title. Bonzi Lon
  12. I would like to know if the bead of grease trick around the throttle shafts I suggested had made any difference. Bonzi Lon

On my 73, the speaker & antenna are on the driver's (left) side. Bonzi Lon

I was able to find the larger diameter fuel rated hoses from my local John Deere Dealership, or any Tractor / Truck Supply shops, $2.79 a foot. Bonzi Lon

I found this very nice 71 521 a while back, not in the garage yet, but will be this spring. It needs a little TLC, interior is trash, runs rough but got itself on & off the trailer, bad respray, very minor rust, solid bed, new exhaust from the header back, bar code stickers still on the pipes. Every guy need a truck. Bonzi Lon

    Shifter bushings OK? Bonzi Lon
  17. Kathy & Rick, post 20 mentions the $500 registration fee you MUST pay in order to even attempt to bid, so that could keep you out of the Big Top. Not sure on the rest of the grounds. Maybe someone went this year that can give us more details on costs involved and what that would get you. Bonzi Lon

Dang it Rainman, you are giving me too many ideas. I'm liking the silver in place of black. Bonzi Lon
  20. Get a new set of NGK spark plugs, adjust valves to FSM, check points, ignition, timing, tune carbs. See where that gets you. Bonzi Lon
  21. I imagine every year is different in the rules, regulations & commissions. The very first year I watched it, there was no commission on any thing over 1 million dollars, there was also a sliding scale of percentage of the sold price. They also had reserves that year. There may also be some exceptions made at the time of signing the contract. What they quote on the air may be the average commission. They might give a huge discount just to have a special vehicle. If each contract is made & signed behind closed doors, we will really never know for sure. That is one hell of a gate fee for a car show, but what a show. Bonzi Lon
  22. Try this place, www.BlackDragonAuto.com Clutch Hose, 64-608, 240-280, 70-78, $12.95 + shipping. Ask for their free catalog, many more parts that you can't live without. Bonzi Lon
  23. It is my understanding the early balance tubes had the brake port on the end, like 240dkw's, then later put the port on the top near the end and plugged the end hole with a welch plug. Bonzi Lon
  24. The way I heard it on the TV was the seller paid 8% and the buyer paid 10%. Bonzi Lon
  25. Sounds like the linkage over-camed when you floored it. Stay away from that intersection? Bonzi Lon
