  1. Inspect, refurbish or replace your fuel sending unit and the rubber O-ring that goes with it. Some of the larger fuel rated replacement hose can be found at a tractor related dealer. An old inner tube will make some nice new rubber tank straps if yours are mia or fubar. Bonzi Lon
  2. This is on my 73. I added an extra cable IF ever the original failed as I have read about. Hope it helps. Bonzi Lon
  3. Young kid: 'Hey Mister, how fast that car go?' Mister: 'It goes so fast, parts come off.' Bonzi Lon
  4. Mine did the shakes also, turned out it was the ny-lock, self-locking nut on the top of the shock had come loose, or was not properly torqued, wearing a groove in the shock rod and rounding out the 'D' in the insulator, large rubber mount. Bonzi Lon
  5. It can be figured out, here are some differences I ran across: Top yellow line: different lengths depending on the lever to the right, can be adjusted. 2nd yellow line: same bracket, some have 20mm spacers behind depending on the length of 3rd yellow line: this rod, different lengths depends on which balance tube being used 4th yellow line: should be attached to above 5th yellow line: different lengths depending on carb spacers I was lucky enough to have plenty of parts to choose from to make my carb swap work. The entire rotating assembly of a newly rebuilt engine reminds me of the insides of a fine watch , only a little bit larger parts. Great work. Bonzi Lon
  7. Mine was broken also, a dob of super glue & the holding screw put it back together again. Bonzi Lon

First time posting photos on new format. Hope this works and helps, even if it is the left. Bonzi Lon

Leaving as soon as the sprinkles stop, however I do have Rain-X on the glass. Bonzi Lon
  10. I agree, that DVD / video is Golden for learning & tuning these carbs. 'Most excellent!' Bill & Ted Bonzi Lon

I was forced to drive in the rain / slight sprinkle, last year at ZCON10. The original, untouched, 3 speed wipers worked just like they did when new, Slowest, Slower, & Slow. Bonzi Lon

Its a Classic prone to rust! Don't drive it in the rain. I couldn't resist. Bonzi Lon
  13. IIRC there are 2 different thicknesses of the fiber spacers. The thick ones are about 15mm. I know my 73 has the thin ones, about 5mm. It appears you have the thick ones as seen in post 5. About 10mm gain there. Bonzi Lon
  14. I've heard older guys talk about the whale oil in the struts. It is the same smell as 150 year old watch that hasn't been cleaned in the past century. Have had the pleasure of this smell many times. It can curl your noise hairs. About 3 tablespoons of oil in the tube is plenty. I like Blue's changing avatar, he might be our new 'computer generated Piccaso'. Bonzi Lon
  15. Norcal510, that would be on a pole in front of my garage in a minute. I live on the busiest 2 lane in KS, 20K vehicles a day. Bonzi Lon

If the cover is not cracked or broken, gaskets may be all you need to stop the leak. Headers do not give the increase of power for the price, but people do say, 'oh wow, it has headers.' Swap will include a new intake-exhaust gasket as it is a shared gasket. Bonzi Lon

Clean the rubber roller thoroughly before installing. Bonzi Lon
  18. I suggest putting carb cleaner or other solvent in the fuel lines in front, then blow them out. It will make a smelly mess if you don't catch it. A new and a spare fuel filter should be purchased. Bonzi Lon
  19. First attempt my guy did the body work and some primer then left. It sat for 26+ years. Hired another painter. Done in 11 days. Bonzi Lon
  20. A small child, 5-10 years old, isn't a normal toolbox item, but could come in handy for this job. I used a very long pair of needle nose plyers, took the seat out and got very uncomfortable. Bonzi Lon

You can operate the fuel pump by hand if you remove the valve cover, pull the lever several times to prime the system. That will keep the starter from spinning so much. Bonzi Lon
  23. One of the bugs might be the 'ballast resistor'. I know some swaps need one, others do not. What is your set up? Did the PO leave it in or remove it? Bonzi Lon
  24. Remember, the ends on these lines are 'double flair'. Bonzi Lon

Very nice. Deal of the Day. Thats what I paid for my seats 30 years ago! Looks like this one should be called 'Bumble Z'. Bonzi Lon
