  1. Once the tank is out, you will have two larger holes to look and work through, sender unit hole and a short filler neck. It seems is possible (IIRC, when my tank was out) to fill the hole with a fuel grade type filler with use of 'tools on sticks' type approach. Small light can be in the tank, camera focused on the hole through the drain hole, mirror on a stick and a tool to place product on the hole. Based on if the hole is visible and able to get to, dexterous. Just a thought. If the tank is relined, make sure all vent holes don't get plugged with liner, it has happened. HTH Bonzi Lon
  2. It appears the mud flaps are molded in. Interesting. Bonzi Lon

I replaced the fuseable link and put on a RED positive cable before anything else was done. I 'think' the car is dead if the link is broken, the electrical guys can answer for sure. Electric stuff makes my brain itch. Bonzi Lon
  4. There was a car show several years ago called "Chop, Cut, Rebuild" that found a Bricklin to restore. It was about 8 or so episodes and had lots of facts and information on how it was developed and made. The lack of an ash tray was one of the quirks of the car, as none of the designers smoked, but a bean bag ash tray was later offered to the smokers. At 16, I remember seeing and inspecting one on the show room floor, it was the 'Safety Orange" color that the majority were made, IIRC. Bonzi Lon

I clicked on my profile but the URL# does not match the number I put in my signature many years ago. Which one should I use? It now comes up as 10482. When I first found out about the # and a discount I put the # in my signature as seen below, 11300. Bonzi Lon

Patcon: You might check the fuseable link down by the starter. You said the battery was hooked up backward, that could of melted part of the link. The very same thing happened to me during my refurbishment, hooked them up backward, looked down and saw the fuseable link smoking and quickly removed it from the post. The link was melted about 3/4 of the way, found a replacement. The car had original black battery cables. Easy to cross. Not any more. My very late 73 came with and still has the points system, and original wheel covers. Bonzi Lon
  7. I did not lube the O-ring when I installed my new sender unit, that was 8 years ago. Bonzi Lon

Sending one out in the mail today. After a good cleaning, the original ones are made of the dark grey plastic material. The ones that were black looking were found to be painted black, the grey was visible on the back of each and some flaking of the paint overall. I'm sure lots of them were painted black to match 'most' headliners, mine is white, but the hangers in my car still look black at a distance without direct light. Bonzi Lon

Upon further review..... I looked again the the parts bin & found 1 hanger in black with the locating pin still attached, the other 2 are grey, one a little lighter than the other, & both are missing the locating pins, the other one must be MIA as I can't seem to find it. Sorry, but no screws come with these. If you would like one of them, just give me your address in a PM or email & I will get one in the mail to you, remember the grey ones are missing the locating pins, however could be repaired if you are a 'handy Andy'. Interesting. My 73 has the black hangers but the 2 pair in the parts bin are more of a grey. Was there a change in color over the years? Or are they faded to grey? Any thoughts or ideas on color changes? Anyone else have any that look grey? Bonzi Lon
  12. You can check the clearance of the bolt heads by placing a small round dob of modeling clay, 'play-dough', window glass glazing putty, on the top of each bolt head, close the hood fully. Open the hood and see how flat each dob is, change out the ones that have no or very little clearance. Bonzi Lon

I've found out that an empty holster on the seat is a pretty good deterrence. Bonzi Lon
  14. I purchased a new OEM pcv hose from Nissan and it was a lighter color that what I thought it should be, so I just hit it with some flat black paint to darken it to match the other hoses. On some hoses that were NLA, I removed the fraying threads and remainder of all braiding and also painted flat black, the braiding impressions are still in the hose. There is a thread with another fix, it is titled 'Old Hose'. Can't get the URL to copy-paste. Bonzi Lon
  15. To prime my system after it sat for 26 years, was to pull the valve cover and operate the fuel pump arm manually until the fuel was in the filter and beyond. Bonzi Lon
  16. I used a chamois for a few years until it was stolen at a car show. It was at that show that I was introduced to the 'Jelly Blade". WOW!! I was impressed enough I went out and bought one. A very fast way to get the water off of your car. It is made of soft silicone and the wiper type blade forms to the shape of the car. I have to follow up with new 'Scott Blue Shop Towels' around the gaps and windows. Thought about buying another chamois until I saw how much they had gone up. The blade takes less time and energy than the old way. Always rinse it clean before use, I store mine in a zip top baggie. If this one goes missing, I'll just get another. Bonzi Lon

Not too far for the Branson Z-Fest, either, last of May - early June. Bonzi Lon
  18. My car only needed the tail finisher panel in off white. When it came in it was black plastic on the back with 'SEM Vinyl Dye' in off white on the face, which matched the other panels I had used the SEM dye on. However, like Galaxbj said, it needed trimmed around the edges to fit properly, then touch up with SEM. The material was about twice as thick as the original 'all off white' plastic, which made getting the rivits in somewhat of a challange. Bonzi Lon

I remember seeing a TV program a year or so ago featuring this company, but can't rember the name of it now. Bonzi Lon
  20. Hard water spots on the glass or paint can be removed by using a wet cloth of viniger on the spot. Simple and easy. Once the glass is clean, Rain-X is applied. Bonzi Lon
  21. Before removing the drain plugs, remove the fill plugs first. Fill plugs are famous for being very tight. Bonzi Lon
  22. A trick a youngster showed me to make the page bigger, is to hold down the 'ctrl' key (lower left of keyboard) while turning the mouse wheel one way or the other. However I am still computer stupid. Bonzi Lon

Postage on postcards were 1 cent from May of 1907 up to the late 40's, except for a short time during WW1. Nice find, Blue. Bonzi Lon (antique postcard dealer & collector)
  24. As a teen (1970) I worked at a 'Service Station', this was before self-serve, with a fill up we had to wash the windshield, check the oil, check all belts, check the tire pressure, and any thing else the owner wanted or needed. And the price of gas was, for the most part, was 32.9 cents per gallon. During the 'gas wars' that happened sometimes, it was as low as 17.9 cents a gallon. This is wnen I saw my first 240Z. He left a long black mark across my lot as he left. I was impressed. Seven years I bought my 73 that I still own today. Bonzi Lon
