As a kid I remember some of our mid 60's Buicks had electrical trumpet horns that sounded like a freight train, it got everyone's attention within blocks. Another horn would be an older 6 volt horn on a 12 volt system. Very unusual & loud sound when used in short bursts. It will burn out if very long blasts are used. One kid in town had that set-up, it would set off store alarms on Main Street that had a glass vibrating alarm system. Bonzi Lon
  2. Some of my best purchases (read most profitable) have been when I show up with an 'empty' box truck or trailer and enough cash to get the deal done. Bonzi Lon

Save some of the acid in properly marked sealed plastic bottles for future use on rusty small parts, nuts, bolts, screws, washers etc... A motorcycle guy told me about 'Kreem", he used it plenty of times on small tanks. I had to use 2 kits. I hadn't learned about POR15 at that time. It was 'well cured' after 2 years on the wall. The only rims that I have seen that would replace the original steel & covers on mine are the 5 spoke 'Bathurst Globe', found down under. Bonzi Lon

Here is a steel wheel and a wheel cover from my 73, like the 72 it does have a Z in the center with a red reflector. Over time the red turns to orange or pink when in the sun for 40+ years. I painted the orange to pink reflector blue to match the car. Very few even notice it is not 'right', but I like it. Bonzi Lon
  6. These might help. Might try placing an ad in the parts wanted section of the classified, many 73's lost their brackets for the earlier bumpers. Bonzi Lon

Interestingly, in 40 years, I'm only 7% heavier, but 40% lighter in the hair department. Bonzi Lon

While in the paint shop a guy delivering parts asked if it was a 260 or 280, I told him it was a 240. He said he had never heard of that one. Bonzi Lon
  9. As a teenager I would pit crew for a small town drag racer where the winner got some cash and trophies to the runners up. He always had a saying about that, "It takes he++ of a lot of salt & pepper to make those trophies taste good." I've never forgot it. I know car shows do not give out cash, but the statement still holds true. Its all for fun and the love of being there. Sometimes you meet someone famous which makes it all that more special than winning something that sits on the shelf and collects dust. My drag racer's wife HATED all those trophies because OF the dust. The 2 trophies I have won so far are now covered in dust, no wife to complain though. hehe Bonzi Lon
  10. After my guy finished up on the complete exhaust system I gave him a ride, he was very impressed. Now anytime I go into his shop he is right there with "what can i do for you today", no matter what he is doing. Bonzi Lon
  11. Everything Blue mentioned is in the video. Best money for my Z and brain I've ever spent. Bonzi Lon
  12. I chose the blue NGK's because they matched the paint color. Bonzi Lon
  13. My garage is about the same size, with a 10X40 back room. It is big enough to fit 8 Z-cars without any room for benches, or 2 '59' Cadillac's with barely enough room for a bench. Bonzi Lon
  14. I spent many hours trimming & filing to get them to fit the bucket properly. The magnets were only an experiment because I did not want to put any holes in the buckets. The experiment worked very well. If you see me at a show ask about some magnets, I have given lots of them away. One is always on the oil drain plug, trans & diff are already magnetized. Bonzi Lon

I taped a silver Sharpie to the inside of my glove box just before leaving for Z-Con10, just in case someone 'special' came near my car. Sure enough, to my surprise, Mr. Matsuo came to my car and examined it, he really liked the color, and happily signed the inside of my glove box door. I was still shaking 5 minutes later. Bonzi Lon
  16. My covers are held on by 3 'very strong' magnets, (unknown composition) but are for show only, not intended for the road. After one show I was 30 miles away doing at least 70mph when i realized I forgot to take them off, pulled over and to my surprise they were still on. Each magnet is 1/2 x 3/8 x 1/4 inch, with a piece of rubber glued on to prevent scratching the paint on the metal buckets. My avitar shows them with no visible means of attachment. I painted them black because they were crazed from sitting on the shelf for 28+ years. Bonzi Lon
  17. Here would be 2 examples of extreme 'Z'-ness, both ways. Bonzi Lon
  18. Here is a 411 that needs a little work. http://wichita.craigslist.org/cto/3336368055.html Bonzi Lon
  19. Shouldn't it have the 'Scarab' valve covers? Bonzi Lon
  20. Were you aware that there is ( should be ) a small brass screen filter in each of the banjo bolts on the lid of each carb? If not, remove the lid, take the banjo bolt out, there are the screens. Inspect & clean. Bonzi Lon
  21. A very good program that shows the process of this is Modern Marvels "Chrome". The parts I could recognize what they were was the grills of Ford trucks. Bonzi Lon
  22. The headers on my car, ca 1980, have a piece of round metal tacked to them for this purpose, it is in the upper left by the braided hose. I don't use it and never took it off, but will when the headers get coated. Bonzi Lon

This might be the very reason I have this spook still hanging on my garage wall for the past 32 years. Hmmm... Bonzi Lon
  24. Congratulations on your anniversary and a birthday present to boot. I had my 35th this past June, but not an original owner. I get some great reactions when I tell them it was my 'college car'. Bonzi Lon
  25. It is my understanding it is like a sealing wax, needs to be heated well above engine temp to become plyable or melt. It is what holds the baffle & PCV tube in place. Bonzi Lon
