Demand for correct 240z Bumpers
Remember, the 73 front bumper is different in size, mounting brackets and body to bumper filler pieces than the other years. Bonzi Lon

Ash Tray Trivia
As a smoker in 77 when I bought my car, I found the little 'grabber' a nuisance, in the way of putting out the smoke & too small to really get a grip on to pull it out. There was plenty of room under the tray. First time I emptied it I found a very expensive Colibri lighter, a small pot / hash pipe and an ounce of very good weed. Bonzi Lon

Branson Z Fest 2013
There were about a dozen S30's last year, the show has anywhere from 100 to 150 Z cars. Most don't register this early in the season, I am one of them, see ya there. Bonzi Lon

My NEXT sports car --- C7 Vette? Boxster?
I test drove a new Saab Sonnett in 73, just out of High School, looked cool but only had 85hp, very small inside & out. Four years later I ran across my 73Z. Bonzi Lon

17 months later, my restoration is done
Very nice, indeed! I'm glad to see it with the original wheel covers. So few of us roll that way. Bonzi Lon

71 Hatch strut
I tried it. The downsides are, getting a mounting bracket from another Z, one from a 240 will be backward for the passenger side so placement will be a little off from the other side. Placement is critical for full extentsion & compression. Drill holes and make a bracket to mount on the hatch. The plastic trim will need to be trimmed to fit. The 240Z struts have more pressure than the 260/280, installed it is very hard to close and rises so fast you have to watch it. It was all removed after the first few tries and went back to stock. The reason for wanting to try 2 was that the bracket came un-welded from the body, upon examination only 1 1/2 spot welds were there instead of 4. I have seen several posts of this happening on the late 73's. This is what happened to me, so try if you want to. Bonzi Lon

Valve Cover Racers
I saw these racers at a Corvette sponsored car show in 2010, won a trophy at a Corvette show, speechless. It was interesting as to how everyone interpreted the rules. With the above rules and the ones at the show, the Nissan OHC or 2400 valve cover would not make it because of length, haven't weighed one yet. Bonzi Lon

Removing sail panel emblem - how?
There are 3 pins surrounded by steel barrel clips. Using EScanlon's method, when you can determine where the pins are, a drop of lube on them might help with removal as they might have rust, depending on age. Bonzi Lon

280z - Hidden/secret/weed compartment?
I bought my 73 240Z in June of 1977, as a cigarette smoker then, the ashtray needed emptied within a week. I pulled the tray out and to my surprise under there was a very expensive 'Colibri' lighter, a nice pot pipe and an ounce of very good weed. Bonzi Lon

Making a Wooden Shift Knob
Here is the thread that has the drawing & measurements. Post 81 for drawing, post 83 for fraction measurements and post 86 for the metric. Even though the thread is about the 5 speed knob, the drawing & measurements are for the 240Z shifter knob. Hope this helps. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/help-me/47482-5-speed-knob-reproduction-4.html Bonzi Lon

240z Inspection Light Source?
I got my 'gold-zinc' replacement, (dealership lifted my original) from Courtesy in 11-09. The part number used is 26740-10W00 for $25.26, back then. I've always thought the 'light on a wire' was one of the best features of the engine bay. Bonzi Lon

I hate this and it sucks!
Over the years that I have attended Branson Z-Fest, Nissan Sport Magazine ( Art Singer ) has been there, the past several years in 'Project 240Z'. This year it arrived in a 'wrapper'. I know I will miss the magazine, the sub came with paid Z-Fest entry. Bonzi Lon

240K Why DOESN'T IT APPEAL TO ME?
I think the front end looks like an AMC Javelin. See how many makes we each see in one car? The quarter side holds the back glass & badge of the 240Z. Then the 2 lines on the lower quarter, that start at the back of the door, 'brilliant', makes the car look a bit lighter in back. I really like the back end, large & small round tail lights set in the famous 'Datsun black' color tail surround, with a very well fitted chrome bumper. There would be space in my garage any day of the week for one of these, blue please. Bonzi Lon
