  1. Thanks for the advice & offer to help!! Looks like I'm replacing exhaust valves & heading to my machinist.
  2. I have a "little" problem. Engine's out of the car...due to an ahem, "miscalculation" on my part, actually make that major brain fart, I over-adjusted the cam timing on my motor & caused piston crown/valve contact on start-up. I put a substitute L28 in my motor's place in meantime, but now I'm faced with varying possibilities on how to go about fixing my cylinder head. It's an E-31 head, a good one, so I don't want to toss it. Only the exhaust valves were contacted. The bottom end looks fine...pistons aren't damaged, just slightly nicked/scuffed where the valve edges hit. Everything I know tells me to replace all the exhaust valves (I do have a spare set of valves). I'm assuming even the slightest contact will ruin the valves. Anyone ever have an experince like this? It's not a catastrophic failure, just a hiccup. But I wanted to pose this to the forum to get some advice so I can cover all my bases...Thanks for any & all help. TG

  5. I took this off an L20B powered pre '70s Datsun pickup I found in a junkyard. I already have one in my 240Z, so I don't have any use for it. Will make any L4 or L6 come ailve & REV! Make an offer. Part is in great condition. Don't know the brand. Please respond to chaztg@cox.net
  6. Do you have a driver's side window regulator? Please respond to chaztg@cox.net with total cost incl s/h. Thanks!
  7. If anyone has one in good condition, please contact me at 619-287-9671 or chaztg@cox.net Thanks.
  8. Just curious if you sold the Z yet...? I'm in San Diego.

The armrest is in great condition. It's black. I don't think that they came in any other color, but I could be wrong.
  10. Somebody more knowledgeable about these things should check this out. The seller's user ID is "forjunny" and it looks like this part may be a scam. It's auction description has all the hallmarks of one: too much elaboration, too much hype, not enough technical explication. Let's slam dunk this asshole if he thinks he can convince us that this is an "easy" LSD conversion. I personally would want to find out that this item is not all it's hyped to be after removing, disassembling and re-installing a rear end (not fun). This part looks to good to be true. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33731&item=7907869468&rd=1

I have an extra passenger side armrest you can have for $10 + shipping. Let me know if you still need this part. Tony
  12. This is a good, rust-free, straight CA car with good paint and a strong 2.8 litre motor (E-88 cylinder head). The asking price is $3,700.00 OBO & the car can be driven and delivered anywhere. Please call 619-287-9671. The car is located in southern CA.
  13. 3-row core radiator, 280ZX electronic ignition/distributor, oversized front anti-sway bar, chromed upper front strut tower brace, Motorsport Auto Jet-Hot coated 6 into 1 header, Clifford anti-theft system, Schneider performance camshaft, Hella H4 headlights.
  14. A lot of people mess up the center console when a 280ZX 5-speed is dropped into an early 240Z. Since the spacing of the shirft linkages of the early gearboxes are different than the later design, many people try to make it work & don't get it quite "right." Classic Datsun Motorsports did this one correctly & exercised the proper care to make it look like nothing changed.
  15. This is a shot of the outer frame rail where it meets the body in the inner fender well. No rust, & it's been undercoated. The entire car is like this.
  16. At least the "unseen" surfaces haven't been disregarded. The door jambs, underhood & engine bay have all been treated in the same color.
  17. This car has been well cared for. This is the part of every Z that I've ever seen that's been hailed to all hell by hitting things or having a tow truck mangle it...not this car.
  18. I'll try to post as many pics of the car as I can. It's very hard to reproduce the exact qualities of this Z when not in person. For example, the color may appear black, but it's actually deep dark metallic blue. I don't have the best digicam, but the shade is so dark, that it's easily mistaken no matter what the photo quality may be. I admit that the car is not completely original, but cosmetic things like the bumpers can be easily remedied if a full resto is chosen. The paint's been done...which is a nice thing (especially when the door jambs, engine bay & underhood were also resprayed the same color). Most Z's won't have stuff like the original wheels or emblems, but I'd grade this one as 90% all there (who wants the original steel wheels anyway...except to have the hubcaps?). I'd put Panasports on it--anyway, this car is a driver! By the way, the bumpers have been powder coated & not painted. The original color scheme was butterscotch with a black interior. Ask me more!
  19. Beautiful classic Z inside & out. Well maintained, adult owned & driven. The car has a recent 5 star paint job and a built L28 motor running a performance cam, backed by a lightened flywheel and 280ZX 5-speed gearbox. The drivetrain was built by Classic Datsun Motorsports in Vista, CA (have all receipts). This car has spent its entire life in California. No rust, no problems, clean title, daily driver (if you want to), & very fast. Also comes with its original matching #'s motor (long block w/E31 cylinder head). The owner won't entertain any offers below $8,000.00. This is a classic series-1 early 240Z with no defects. Serious inquiries only please. Thanks. My # 619-944-4141.
  20. This is an adult-owned, 12-70 production date early ("series 1" as they are referred to) 1971 model year Datsun 240Z. It has been very well cared for over the past few years since being purchased here locally by its current owner. The car originally began its life in butterscotch, but it was re-sprayed with deep blue-metallic. The entire car was painted (including the engine bay), anti-corrosion treated and the bottom undercoated. The front and rear bumpers have been powder-coated black. This is a five-star paint job; to date, only a couple flaws are visible near the front end which were caused by rock chips. The exterior will speak volumes about the care this car has received, but that isn't the only thing special about it. The driveline consists of a High Performance L28 (rebuilt, performance cam, ceramic coated headers, N42 cylinder head) & a 5-speed 280ZX transmission. These features are further enhanced by a three row radiator and ZX electronic ignition, and Carroll Shelby slotted mag wheels. The entire powertrain was built by Classic Datsun Motorsports in Vista, CA. In addition, for the buyer who seeks authenticity, the car's original 2.4 litre engine with matching ID number and "2400" valve cover will be included with the sale of the vehicle. The car has been expertly kept in tune, driven regularly, and it won't disappoint--it's very fast! I am only entertaining serious inquiries for this vehicle. This Z is as good as they come, it's an example of the most collectible period for these cars (70-71), and has in it already all the extras which everybody wants. You literally just have to turn the key & drive it away--everything works. I will happily answer any questions about it. Price is $10K. Not-negotiable. The owner is choosing to sell it because he's 74years old. He needs a vehicle he can get in & out of more easily and which has a bigger trunk for his golf clubs. Ph# 619-287-9671.
  21. This is for anyone looking to upgrade their later '73 240Z or 260Z to early-spec 240Z '70-'72 "roundtop" SU-Hitachi carburetors. This is the swap that's been done for years now to get better performance than those OEM flat-top (P.O.S. in my opinion) carbs. The ones I'm offering even have their own separate air filters with washable K&N filter elements, which flow much better than the stock air cleaner assembly. The carbs are the '72 model year type with three screws holding down the dashpot dome (earlier versions had four screws & other minor differences, but essentially they produce the same results)--if you need more info, refer to ZTherapy's web site for all the descriptive data you'd ever want to know... I'm selling the carbs, air filters, linkage, intake manifold and balance tube all as one unit...you get everything. The carbs are in good working condition, both pistons move & drop freely, the chokes don't stick, the needles, jets & fuel hoses & clamps are all there. These will bolt right onto any L6 motor (applications & extra parts needs may vary depending on what kind of Z you've got and how "stock" it is). I'm asking $175 + shipping cost (which I won't ask more than $20). I'm located in San Diego, CA. Thanks!
