no, its not an easy task to have it bored out to a 3 liter, but with about 6500 bucks and a god amungst man Z specialist, you can too have an engine built like mine, yea it was costy but sooooooo worth it, yea its a blast to drive when its running correctly, people hear my car from like 5 streets over, i pull up and people hear it and expect to see this big arse truck or godly muscle car, and there shocked to hear such loud noises from this little datsun

Alright bad news about the rattling sound within my tranny
well no the rattling sound only happens when the clutch isnt in, and it just sits in nuetral, if i have the clutch pushed in and put the transmission into gear or just sit there with the clutch pressed in, the sound is alot quieter, i still hear it though and i can feel the rattling sound on the clutch and the stick shift, like something is actually hitting against the clutch and the stick shift, im pretty much out of ideas, but im gonna pull the tranny again next week, this time just to be 100% sure im gonna thow on the new throw out bearing, and im also gonna pull and check the clutch plate and the fly wheel,

Alright bad news about the rattling sound within my tranny
so if anyone remembers, about month back i posted a thread about a possible throw out bearing problem, im having this really loud knocking/hitting type sound from somewhere between the transmission and the engine, transmission is perfect, nothing wrong with it, sounds like theres something loose or something broke off and its rattling around inside the engine or trqanny, thought i had a bad throw out bearing because when i pushed the clutch in, it would be alot more silent, almost bearly making a noise, but soon as i let off the clutch, bam!! rattles like my trannys not on right or something, i dropped the tranny and looked at the throw out bearing, its practically brand new, so i wasted money a new one =/, my clutch other then just alittle worn, looks prefectly fine, so it has to be maybe behind the clutch or ever possible the fly wheel, its not inside the engine, its just some where from the clutch and the engine and i dont know whart the heck it is, hopefully someone has and idea cause i need to get this fixed fast before i really damage my engine, it hasnt even hit 15k miles yet, and i cant afford another 6k engine >.<

thinking about installing a exhaust bypass system
well a friend of mine showed me this iron cast cut out, its basically a y shape pipe that you install before the cat and comes with a switch that basically lets you run from normal exhaust for city streets and highways and then when you want you can switch it to run threw the pipes second open witch is just running open headers basically, i was just wondering if this would be safe or at least not harmful for my car, ive ran open headers before and it sounded really mean , i mean i think it should be ok without damaging it, i dunno if the lack of back power is gonna be an issue or not, i mean i running a newly built 280 z engine thats been bored out to a 300 liter and has the dual round top su's and im putting out 300hp, so if anyone knows wether or not it would be alright to add this thing in, i would appreciate any info, thanks

well i looked at the engine and it says N42 im not sure what that means, but it is a 280 bored out to 300 liters and i see people talking about there engine and different engine types and i never heard anyone mention an N42 so i dont know what the heck that means

well the tranny and the engine are both 280s, but the car is still and 72' 240, so it is a 2 seater, but thats what i looked at when i went to auto zone, they showed me they had clutch kits, and one was for like a 81/2 and the other was for a 91/2, so i dunno, they didnt even sell or were able to order the 9 so maybe i mite just be lucky and the 8 is what i need, and oh yeah i am doin this by myself looks like, unfortunitly i moved away from all my friends and family, and the ones that would be able to get this done for me in like 2 hours no prob, so i dont have any help out here so i was planning on just starting bright and early one day and just working threw the day, so i dunno we'll see what happens, right now my car is just sitting and im really screwed right now with two jobs i have to get too, so if anyone can offer more advise or tips on how to get this fixed, i appriciate it, ill keep checking in with new updates.

ok auto zone has the kit for 120$ the only thing i need to know if its for the 8/12 or the 9/12 width, i have no idead how to figuer this out, how are you suppose to know????

ok so i have a 280 z engine and a 280 z transmission, im not too sure of the years on either one though, i was hoping maybe someone could tell me where to look on either for some sort of number or something, anyways, so the problem im having is an extremely loud rattling sound comming from the tranny, i found out i need a new throw out bearing, the shop also said that i would or at least should also do a new clutch plate and have the fly wheel turned, and something else, im not sure, he said that if your gonna change the throw out bearing you mite as well do everything else, he also said the reason it was worn out was because i have my clutch too tight so it needs to be adjusted, he quoted me for about 500 bucks, 350 for them to do it and then 150 or more for the parts, he says the throw out bearing comes in a kit with a clutch plate and some other things i guess i need, now i have the money to get the parts, the only thing is i have no idea how to change a throw out bearing, tune a clutch to make it tight or loose, or turn a fly wheel, ive never done anything like that, and i need to get this done fast, please if anyone can help me, im begging this web site, i live to far to walk to work and im extremely low on cash, if i loose eithe of my two jobs i cant pay rent and pay off this ticket and ill be screwed, so if theres some sort or step by step forum or if someone can write me one or something, i would really really appriciate it, thank you for all that took the time to read this, this is my site is my last resort.

weird problems
well recently, like as of today, my z started acting really weird, i turned my car on today and let it warm up alittle, everything is running fine and smooth, all gauges read great, no over heating, nothing at all, sounds smooth, then all the sudden it almost dies, like as if the battery is running low or something, it starts to try and shut off like every 3 mins or so, the battery is fine, the altenator is brand new, im thinking maybe theres a chance its the silinoid, ive been having problems with it in the last 4 months, i would drive my car somewhere and then shut off , then try to turn it right back on and nothing, it just sits there, no noise or anything not even it trying to start, i have to go into the engine and tap on the silinoid and then it will start, so i know i have to replace it, but i think my car trying to die mite have something to do with this, least i hope, anyone have any ideas or similiar problems with this?

my friend is the one who put the body kit on it, its not off any car, some shop in southern cali made a body kit for the car, and no im not putting a bumper back on, he just left the whole there in case later down the line i decided to put one on, but i never plan on doing so

hello, i was thinking about selling my z, i uploaded some pics in the member gallery if you would like to check it out, i dunno maybe if i can get something for it at least half or so of when i put in it i mite just let it go, anyone in arizona or near interested? or if not near but willing to come drive over here, just let me know , its a 1972 240 z, it has a new 280z engine and transmission, its a 5spd manual, 11k on the engine and 4 k on the trans, 17' custom made rims, cd player/stero, mtx amp with 2 10's, about 27k invested into as far as just building it, gimmie a message or comment and let me know if your interested
