  2. I'm a 34..... But deep down I think there should be a multiplier for engines that are multi-use. Not just a Z - zdisease

  4. Just for confidence sake.... I have toyota 4x4 calipers on my 72 240Z with braided stainless flexible lines and stock booster + Master brake cylinder.... works great Not just a Z - zdisease
  5. That's either a bad starter or flaky ignition switch. I would try putting 12 volts to the solenoid with the ignition on... Not just a Z - zdisease
  6. Have you checked your battery cables ? Do you have a good clean ground ? Turn on the ignition, with the e-brake on and the car out of gear..... - Take a wire or screw driver and bridge the positive wire from the battery to the starter to the solenoid terminal on the starter (two inches away) - If the motor turns over fine then the next suspect is the ignition switch. 7. As I learned from the list... The best imperical way to start with the #1 cylinder at TDC: 1. Remove the Valve Cover 2. Remove Spark plug #1 3. Find a long piece of wire to feel piston travel 4. Rotate the motor with a wrench on the crankshaft 5. When #1 is TDC the Cam lobes for exhaust and intake should be unloaded 6. The distributor rotor should be point at the radiator/left headlight What color are the plugs ? Not just a Z - zdisease

  13. Were the spark plug wires checked/replaced ? Not just a Z - zdisease
  14. I had to add the rear sway bar to my 72 240Z. Mine had no brackets but there is a mounting hole in the tranverse link. I installed the MSA sway bars in front and back. I don't have much road experience due to no door hardware or windshield. Seats get installed today. Not just a Z - ZDisease

Great thread.... I have a 72 240Z that always starts kinda hard when cold. I live at 8400 feet above sea level so it cold here on a regular basis. The foot feed clue is a good on. My Z is always cranky getting started but once running is a happy camper. I also leave the choke at about half for several minutes during warm up ... This morning has me taking the truck & trailer to go pick up the Z after seat bracket welding. I plan to block sand / body work on the Z for paint early next year. Last week it was exhaust install. This week it's seats. No more moving the Z around sitting on a kitty litter bucket. Not just a Z - zdisease

Tell me more about the ITG Air Filters..... Did you need to modify the backing plate to deal with the SU's ? Did you custom order via size measurements ? http://www.eurosportacc.com/itg_performance_foam_air_filters.htm Thanks, Not just a Z - zdisease
  17. What is the purpose of the bungee cord ?

After two years of body shop hell...... Today I finally got to hear my 240Z L24 with the Monza exhaust + Arizona Z header...... sweet Much easier on the head than open headers but still has a ballsy tone..... Not just a Z - zdisease

  21. Yeah.... New plugs and she is even happier..... I got her up to operating temp tonight. I still need to gather some friends and torque down the suspension. Next up is welding in the seat brackets then off to Denver for exhaust bending and alignment. Not just a Z - zdisease
  22. Shot.... Score !!!!!!! After 2.5 years the Z is running again. Lesson Learned: The oil pump supports the spindle that drives the distributer. If you swap out the oil pump the only way to maintain timing is to remove the distributer and secure the top of the spindle with some small vice grips. The only missing picture was one of the rotor pointing at 7:30 ish Next hurdle is getting the seat brackets welded in. Maybe within a week.... Wish I had a mig welder... After that it's off to the muffler shop for some bending on the exhaust.... Turns out the muffler shop owner had a ZX he loved.. I wish I could buy you guys a beer..... If you ever visit Colorado I have a cold beer waiting for you. We live in the mountains west of Boulder.
  23. The link below is a picture of my timing marks. There are 5 timing marks. Is the middle mark TDC ? I am confident I am on the compression stroke due to both valves being closed. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=26192&d=1225162852 Not just a Z - zdisease
  24. Do I pull the tang out to reset it ? Not just a Z - zdisease
  25. I appreciate the advice...... Attached are three photos... All were taken with the engine at TDC on the number one cylinder. Not just a Z - zdisease
