Any Racers recognize this 240-Z?
I hope that you get to bring it up to High Plans Raceway this year. I'll bet you will like the new Track.

What's it worth?
After looking at the pictures I would start at 15k. Nice looking car for sure two things I don't like about it one is that I can not afford it and the mirrors look funky to me but over all the car is very nice love that color too.

Brake fluid choice

I looked around for some info as well but could not find anything. I wonder what the spring rates are... Montezuma what are you looking to get for them may I ask? Those should fit my 75...but if they didn't I would have to buy the 73 240 I have been looking at...

1970 Datsun 1200 Sedan: Project GT4/5 Racer
Hello All I have been thinking about getting this car it's not a Z but a Datsun just the same. What I would like to get from you all is some Opinions about the car. It's a long ways off from seeing the track right now but there is a lot there to work with. Here is what has been done so far there maybe more as I don't think the current owner did the build but bought it this way so there maybe more done that what he knows about. This is a rolling chassis, the car has a full custom cage, fully adjustable custom suspension with modified 1200 struts, coil over springs and sleeves, Koni 3-way adjustable inserts (both my 1200's have these), 240z rotors, Toyota 4 piston calipers and adjustable camber plates, Datsun Comp rear springs, massive rear custom sway bar, Aluminum 240z rear drums, fender flares (rears are not yet attached), Tilton hydraulic system (adjustable bias) with full steel braided lines, lightened doors, Fiberglass hood, 3 sets of Hoosier slicks (1 mounted) - also included are ALL the 1200 race car parts that I have that should complete the build, including Aluminum race seat, glass, extra parts, extra dash, after-market gauges, 5-8 alternate rear gear sets and many other parts! There is no title as it was bought as a race car and was going to be strictly OFF-ROAD and trailered to events. The suspension was somewhat modeled after the Datsun 1200 Competition Suspension Manual that can be found HERE - This is a PDF file. Just paint it your favorite color, add your preferred drive train tighten down the bolts, dial in the suspension, add some lexan windows (or the glass ones included - pop outs, rear or front glass) then you'll be set to hit the track! Here is a link with a few pic's http://www.datpart.com/ Thank you for your imput Eric

What combo is good with 9 pound Flywheel?
When I was planning my auto to a 5sp swap I was going to put in a 10.5lbs flywheel and a ACT clutch set up and one day I will but I wanted to get the manual in the car while there were a few races left in the season. So I took my 23lbs stock flywheel to a shop to lighten it and balance it, it's now down to 15lbs I used a stock clutch as well. When the 5sp went in I changed the rearend to a 3:90 from the stock 3.54. The over all feel of the car is great she is quick to come up on the RPM's. I can feel the difference from my 76 which is just a stocker....for now:classic:

240Z steering wheel hub, 280Z hub not the same?
I was going to say I have a 240 wheel that I had on my 280 but I'm not sure of the year 240 it came off of.

Denver area guys...was it any of you?
It was not me..But I think that 73 240 at the Salavtion Army is still there.

Brake booster ?
I was told that the older 240s had a different bolt pattern for the booster. and there is a 8in and a 10in a 2+2 has a different booster than a coupe. I have a 75 280 and pulled one from a older Z I'm not sure which model all the marking were gone so it could of been a 260 or late 240. But it fit my car. To bad it was bad.. I ended up getting one from a 77 and you could not tell any difference from the three. I would say hit the junk yards and pull one from a 280 and see what you find out. I'll bet it will fit. Eric

Installing an Electric Fan...
The one I would say to do is find a bracket for the fan to bolt to and not to use the "pull thru" zip ties, As they can put stress on the cooling tubes and could cause leaks. I read about the problem in some hotrod rod mag and a buddy had this happen to him. Eric

loose ass end out of acceleration and back in
I would say your bushings are worn out. Have you changed to poly bushings yet? Eric

73 240 In Denver
The other day I out and about and drove by the Salvation Army's main store in Denver looking for anything of intrest..and guess what I found. A faded forest green 73 240 with very very little rust I saw two holes in the floor boards the passenger side being the biggest at the size of a Apple or cloes to that. other than that it is very straight the hood has been hit and front bumper is gone. the back one looked good. other than the hood the body looks nice. I could not get into the car but from the window not bad the oem color was a light green. It has a auto tranny. ZX 14" wheels with flat 225/60/14's The only notes I saw on the window was bad fuel lines. At first they were asking 4000.00 they are now down to 2995.00. I wish I had about 1500 they might take it. There was a 280zx as well I didn't see a asking price on that one.

it won't start!!!
Welcome Newguy22. Are you getting any spark? About the only else I can add at the moment is that while your over at Blues tech tips is that you take a good look at the EFI Bible you can even download it. When was the last time the car had new plugs, cap and wires? Back to the Air Flow Meter if it is bad the EFI Bible has a trouble shooting section. you should also look at downloading a FSM from carfish between the two they will cover most of it. I'm pretty sure that 77 AFM I told you about will work my 75 has one from a 78 that does just fine. And do a search it just might bring up something usefull. you might have to use different wording. If I think of something I'll pm you Eric

Sweet story: Guy reminisces over Z
When I was a kid my family spent a lot of time at Mid Ohio Raceway during the Can-Am days My Dad raced Alfas with SCCA so we spent a lot of time a one track or another. I can remember the 510's and Z's back then I thought they were cool race cars.:classic: About 1993 I had a chance to buy a 510 but just didn't have the cash after I bought his two 350 Bultaco Alpina's : Then last year I saw Zahara sitting on a lot and after a couple test drives I just had to have her. Today I went on a outting with a local Datsun Roadster club there was 5 Roadsters and 4 Z's while I was waiting for the oters to show up I taked with a guy that has a 1960 Austin Healy Sprite him and his wife were on their way to Winter Park to meet up with his club. A Miata club showed up for a club gathering of sorts but had to park down the street as we had taken over the Loaf & Jug... Our outting was a trip to the http://www.shelbyamericancollection.org/index.html If you ever have time this place is where you should stop if you like cars. For me it brought back a lot of memory's from when my Dad raced and when we would walk the paddock's... Eric

Does anyone have headlight covers on a silver Z?
Well Zahara is not silver... My covers use one screw by the front side and two tabs that fit where the head light adjustment screws are. Over all the fit is not really bad but not great. Eric

Am I the only one whose named their Z?
I have always named my Cars/Trucks my 75 was given her name from a girl I dated for a little while. My 76 still needs a name it needs to be a guys name thats just the feeling I get from it..or it could be the 76 has a stick and Zahara has a auto... but soon to get a sex change...haha Eric
