260Z Transmission - Keep, Sell or Toss
If I were you the first thing I would do is move the trans. Then figure out if you want to sell it.

So is anyone making reproduction lens. The aftermarkets do not have the right shape and there on the thin side.

Online parts catalog
I only wish they had that for the performance catalogs like BRE or Bob Sharp the one's you can"t find any more. Someone must have a collection they can post or put on a CD. Page by page. We could find some great info on the old parts that pop up from time to time.

ground control spring adjusters
You do know that raising a cars CG (center of gravity) will provide you with a sharp decrease in handling. Even it you put 275lb or even 375lb springs in it. You wrote "I have the 240Z and want it to sit a bit higher than stock and still handel on curves ". You would be going in the wrong direction for that to happen. Most owners will lower the car because it makes it handle better. Oh, buy the way You always get what you pay for. Just my 2 cents.

The PO gave me wood
That's how you hold the tensioner back to keep the chain in place without removing the timing cover

Hope I don't have to do this again
Ya, still on the 4 speed. I'll do a rear end swap soon and then go to a 5 speed.

Hope I don't have to do this again
Well it was time to drop in the new motor. This is my street motor, N42 w/ flat tops, E88 with larger valves, C-grind cam, and all the other regular goodies. Got it in just before the rain.

Wiring Upgrades
Quick question on the ZXP alternator upgrade. Can you still use a battery cutoff switch with the upgrade and what side, pos or neg would you use the switch on ?

RH Series 1 Owners??
I thought the Japanese versions all had 2.0 engines in them, 432's not included. To get a 240 RHD you would have to go to England, good luck finding one over there, I don't think they got more than 700 total imported.

Got new rims... bolts/studs too short!
You need mag wheel lugs.

rb26 in my 240z
I agree, just please go. First off, you will never get 200mph out of your Z. Just the idea that your going to build a hot rod and go freeway racing shows you shouldn't even have a license to drive. The first thing you should be asking about is how do you acquire a brain.

Source for JDM headlight covers
Watch out on the repros. I bought a set off Ebay and the rings were to small. The bottom hole missed the sheet metal completely. I also bought a set of OEM rings back sometime ago and those fit perfect. Since I needed the lenses, I fit those to the OEM's. In pic1 you can see the bottom hole falls above the sheet metal, that's the repro ring. Pic2 is the OEM ring.:paranoid:

Is this for real ?
I knew it off a bug.

Is this for real ?
If I'm not mistaken this is part of a VW intake manifold for a bug. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/manifold-heater-pipe-Datsun-Z-car-240Z-260Z-maybe-280Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35a7838ac2QQitemZ230443682498QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories At least it's not listed as rare. :stupid:

Want to "down grade" from Tociko's back to stock ride
I have both Koni shocks and springs, since these were developed when the original rubber bushings were the only bushing available I went with as many new rubber bushings as possible and checked that I had full movement. The ride is firm but not uncomfortable. The handling is out of this world. Shocks are on a 2 setting as suggested by Koni because of the Rally Sport springs. Push down on the car and it's like a rock, but on the road it's pretty nice. The shocks and springs are new, maybe 2 hundred miles on them. Oh and I'm running 60 series tires, so I have some sidewall cush.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
I've gone to it the past 5 years, and this would be the first time I get to show my Z. I hope the show happens.

2.8 in a 240, which timing chain setup?
Here's my situation, my daily driver has a smog problem and won't pass smog so it's time for it to go. I have about a month left on my tags. I'm going to pull my 73 240 out ( been collecting parts for it to do a total resto) and put it on the road. I have to get hold of a short block to get it running so I figure I'll get a 280 out of the junkyard. I have a fresh E-88 ready to go on. I will do gaskets and seals, timing gear set, oil pump on it. Do I use a 280 timing gear set ? Do I use the 280 timing cover ? Will a 240 distributor work with a 280 timing cover and oil pump. Thanks

Rear sway bar question
I'm going to try a factory 76 bar on my 73. Since I have lowered the car 1 1/4" shouldn't I use a shorter end link in order to keep the geometry correct?
