If you want precision, heavy duty, solid performance, get a Mallory. They make them with the Unilite module and with dual points, with and without the vacume can. Triple owners can use the non vacume. The dual point ones are cheaper and you can find them on Ebay for a good price. I got a new one for $120 last year. You can also set them up with a Pertronix module. They have both Pertronix 1 and 2 for the Mallorys. My feeling is the Unilite can (if you get an electrical spike) blow out and a magnet can't. I ran a Pertronix 1 on a Chevy truck for 6 years and never had to open the cap. I did replace the cap 1 time but never had a problem with the module.

Try Eastwood tools, I think they had a bead tool just for that. http://www.eastwoodco.com

I did the manifold change to the mikuni short intake style. The heat shield fits great with the Datsun comp header which has longer runner (see the photo) than most other headers. I did a fit with the SU set up and this header, and the bottom of the carbs hit, thats how far the tubes come out. Any way this style heat shield will fit even the most difficult setup.

Ya, the price did go up since I bought mine, perhaps he will see this post and decide it's better to sell more at a lower price. I will say that the quality is top notch. I'm looking at that G-nose kit and hope it will not continue to go up in price. Finding one person to pay a tall price is not as easy as finding 10 people that will buy at a lower price.

It fit's 40's, that's what I have. It's held to the bottom mount studs on the carbs

I just got in the under carb tray from http://www.zccjdm.com and I have to say this is top notch. This setup is with a Cannon manifold and the pan fit perfect with Dellortos, which have the under body accelerator pump arms. On top of that I have the Datsun comp header, which fits great but the last 4 tubes do extend out a bit far making it tough to get any kind of clearance from the bottom of the carbs. I"m not sure if the short manifold will work yet but I will try it out this weekend. Here's a pic.

Sorry about this but I'm just feed up with these Bozo's selling on Ebay. I bought a coil bracket off Ebay that was replated, not too long ago. Turns out it's not for a 240Z. It's much larger and can not be used. If you say it fits a 240Z, then make damm sure it does. Not all 280 stuff will swap over and vice-versa. Sure you have this very rare part you want to sell, like a steering wheel or a valve cover. Hey, it's not rare. Rare would be a new in the box set of tail lights, or a set of 432 magnesium rims. Rare would be FIA brakes, not a headlight bucket or a set of Monroe strut inserts. I bought a new in the box Cannon manifold for triples, the guy never mentioned the casting was so bad it's junk. The runners on 1 and 2 are so miss matched it will not work. He got top dollar and sent out trash. I know you can leave a bad comment about these idiots but then you get one back, even if you pay them within a minute or two at the end of the auction. It's bad enough that guys are spending hard earned dollars on over price parts for a car that does not have the value to back it up. You can buy a nice Z for a 3 to 5 thou and spend 3 times that for a few parts. Sure if the car was bringing 20 to 30 grand the price of some of the stuff out the would be worth it, but when you have to spend 10 grand on a car that might be worth 3, then you want your 10 grand worth of parts. I know we all do this because we love these cars but jezz it's just nuts finding good parts and good people to deal with. All I'm saying is if your going to list on places like Ebay the make sure your selling what you clain you have. Sorry about the rant.

This is the system I'm running but I adapted it to a Datsun comp header. I had the rear megaphone set up, so I copied the rest of it. The muffler section has resonators before the glass packs.

I have the over under set up too. The pic in the first post works with the Datsun comp header. I have that set up and I run to the bolt up flanges at the rear so I can change the rear section from muffles to megaphones. My pipes are 1 3/4".

Check Ebay, thats where I got mine. There are 2 sizes, small and large.

The Pertronix 2 that I have is not in a stock 240 Z distributor, it's in a Mallory dual point distributor. I wanted a top notch distributor which would be a Mallory but without the UniLite trigger. I don't trust the UniLite tigger. There sensitive to voltage spikes and can blow out. Besides I'm going to be running triples and we all know that the vacume advance is useless with that setup and I'm not just going to disconnect that advance and try to work around it. I have mechanical advance, magnetic trigger, and a well build distributor housing. I have used Pertronix in cars with really beaten up wiring systems and have never had one fail.
  13. How much are you looking to spend to buy one ?
  14. 240ZGL replied to MAX's post in a topic in Electrical
I have the Pertronix 2 in a Mallory dual point and it uses a low resistance coil, .6ohm.

Not a kit car. Intermeccanica made a few models and the Omega is buy far the rarest of all. They were best known for the Italia. Sweet cars all of them. Did it have an influence on the Z, maybe but not more than most any 60's-70's sports cars. The long nose 2 seat sports car was nothing new, it's was the $3500 price tag on a car that had true performance that made the "Z" special.

I guess someone needs to get a trailer and plan a road trip.

Hell, I was looking to get around $2500. for my non-op and it's rust free and comes with all sorts of goodies. I was going to let it go with the triples, 2 e-88's, 2 headers, 2 sets of new pistons, mallory with a pertronix convertion, 2 cranks, yada, yada, yada. I figuered I better keep it and try to finish it.
  18. I have the Mallory dual point distributor without vac and bought the Pertronix II conversion kit for it. Now I have a great fully adjustable distributor with electronic reliability and I don't have to worry about blowing an led trigger. I just don't trust those Unilites. One good voltage spike and your on the side of the road.
  19. Most were riveted on if there the nice ones. I took mine of and now I just have to fill the holes
  20. For street driving, your just going to burn up clutch discs, especially on a up hill start. It's great if you want to leave hard like a race car but remember that race cars get taken apart at the end of the day. Race cars just don't make good street cars and visa versa. I wouldn't go beyond 16lbs. Thats about the limit for a street car. A 9lb. disc will spin so easy that it's going to be tough to control your revs from a dead start. You'll get tired of it real fast and then swap to a heavier disc.
  21. Where in So. Cal. ?
  22. I have a set of the same one's on E-bay. I guess for the ski types there a nice item. They hold 2 sets of ski's.
  23. Been in the same boat lately. My health has not been the best. I have a nice car but the motor needs to be finished and I don't know if I can do it anymore. So, do I try hard push myself and see it through or sell it off to someone that will care for it and enjoy it. Damm frustrating, isn't it.
  24. If it's a real Scarab, not a conversion and it has all the original parts and it's not chopped or wide bodied all tricked out, then its worth a bundle. It's the same as a Yanko or Motion Chevy, not a factory modified car but done by a reputable company known for there performance upgrades. Carol Shelby did the same thing with both AC's and Mustangs. If it's a conversion then it's worth what someone will give you for it but not everyone looking for a Z will want it. As for the Z becoming a collector car, which it will some day, there are still a lot of them out there. The only good thing I see is that lots of them are being bastardized. There being made into tuner cars which makes the properly restored ones more and more rare. If you want a 71 hot rod, build it to 71 style with 71 parts. Go ahead and pull that tiny 2.4 matching numbers motor and stick a 2.8 stroker in it, more hp and less collectibility. To the guy at the auction who's looking to buy a collector car, he will walk right past that 3.2 in hopes of finding one with the right numbers stamped on the block. Remember, this is the car that made every thing else look silly when it hit the shores. Even Porsche, Jag and Corvette took notice. Please make mine rare, chop yours up. I'll get off my soap box now.
  25. You stole those parts, that sucks.
