There in nice shape, not new but nice. All I have to do is make up a set of lenses. Thats the easy part. He says he will be getting in another shipment of JDM parts next month. I'm going to stay in touch with him. He has 5 Z's in various stages of assembly.

  6. Well, I'm still not going to sell off any of the parts, they took too long to find and thats the hat trick with this project. Parting the car would be a sin. This thing is in too good a shape to strip it to save some rust bucket. Hell I was thinking of around $2500 since I see these new members always looking for there first Z car. I can see that it's going to take someone who really knows these cars and knows what it takes to really build a nice car. It's going to take someone who is not afraid to pick up a wrench and build something they can really show off and be proud of. I've had some e-mails and on the car and it seems that people what to take it off my hands as a favor for a few bucks. This one is too nice and the parts are too hard to get for a few bucks. I was only thinking of selling because my health is not to good these days and I don't know if I will be able to finish it. Well, I'm going to hang on to it and the parts and see what I can do with it.
  7. Did you get the thermostat kit with it ? You need that for it to work automatically, or you could wire it to a relay with a switch under the dash so you can flip it on when you need it. Just keep an eye on your gauge or it's melt down city. Really, you need a thermostat kit for it to work right.
  8. I thought that dished pistons were used on the turbo 280 motors. Maybe you have a turbo short block. I know some mech shops will pull a short block out of the bone yards to do what they call a rebuilt engine.
  9. Ok, I'm thinking about getting out of the resto. This is a 73, one owner car. I bought it from his mech who had been storing it. The body is near perfect and all gaps are factory straight , I could only find 2 very small dings which are very hard to find. Suspension looks good but could be cleaned up, underside has some surface rust but no major rust or holes. The mechanic had left it sitting at his shop and coolant ate the head gasket. I pulled the motor, tore it down and started buying parts. Block is standard but could use a rebore, head looked ok. It cranked over but those damm 73 carbs are shot. The bumpers are ok but they do have a ding each. Brakes could use a refreash, and the fuel tank needs a flush. The interior needs carpets, and seat covers. My idea was to build a period resto rod. I want the stuff that was sold back in the day. Anyone can buy new stuff, slap it on and have what everyone else has. I wanted the stuff that is no longer made and hard to find. I wanted to build a rolling collection of what was available back when these things were sold. The parts I have so far are either new old stock or in great condition n/a stuff. Sayno Kiki Sports Kit race manifold w/ serial numbers. Datsun JAP header in steel. Metal Art flat top pistons (cast), new +20 1 set of front Konis front struts. New TC kit Clifford rear megaphone exhaust section, new and maybe the only one left anywhere, sold at Datsun dealers. 432 rear spoiler not mounted yet. Hella flat lens euro headlights, crystal glass I also have a MSA new 3x2 ceramic coated header, 4 core MSA radiator, new twice pipe kit, a spare crank, and a set of +30 new pistons on a set of spare rods, Mallory dual point (can be converted to pertronix) The triples are Dellortos which are rebuild, and turbo seals installed. There 40's are match flowed. I would like to have found some SK's or a set of Mik's but have had little luck finding a good set in 40's and since Big Sam used Dell's I thought why not. I also have all the bits off the motor and various other parts. I also have every receipt for every thing that ever went into this car, tires, fuel filters, whatever. The hard part about selling this thing is the motor is not built yet so it's not a runner. I know that most non op cars will only get around $500 or so. I will not even consider that. I have a to much into the parts and the car is to nice to off it for nothing. I'll take a loss but not a bath. I will not sell any of the parts off, it all goes or it all stays. If I can't find a good home for it, then I'll finish it and off it for a bundle. So what do you think, what do you think it's worth. Here are some pics.
