series 1 price??
Underbody and frame rails look very good. There is rust on the rear passenger wheelwell lip area, and rusty fenders, but the structure of the car seems to be very sound. Floor is good. It runs a little rough, I'm sure it has very old gas in it. I talked him to 1800. Hopefully I will have the cash available soon before he sells it. It has a header and twice pipes.

New guy, old Z
Welcome! Congrats on the new (old) car! It sounds like a nice example. Post up some pics when you get a chance. Yes, a carb rebuild would be an order with the car sitting for over 20 years. Basically anything in contact with liquids should be addressed.

Bigger cam?
I would do a cam about that size if it were my car and I had the extra cash. You can prpbably get a local regrind for under $100. With a 270 intake and 280 exhaust duration cam with .460 lift, I would want to run a .170" lash pad. Which would run you about $65. For the set. Brand new rocker arms on the other hand would probably run you around $300. You can get those at a local auto parts store.

Bigger cam?
That's a fairly conservative cam you mentioned. You should have no problem running that in a stock engine successfully. At the very least it will sound badass. I'm sure you will make a little more top end power as well. You getting it from MSA? I suggest replacing your rocker arms and lash pads while the cam is out.

series 1 price??
I'm going to look at it today and I'll snap some pics. Hopefully it's mostly original. I like the white. I'll be selling my z31 turbo to buy this s30, so every dollar from that sale will go towards restoring the s30. Eventually I would like a rb25 or 1jz. Just a well powered street cruiser is what I'd want. But if it's really nice, I may do a factory restore.

series 1 price??
What's the going price for a series 1 240z these days? The car I'm looking at is white, 4 speed manual, and the body appears to be a good condition. The only thing it needs to be in driving order is a wheel cylinder and a battery. The seller is asking $2000. Sound about right? It seems worth it to me. I haven't gone to see it in person yet, so I can't tell for sure.

Check out these Rims...Good Deal?
That sounds like a good deal to me, but if I had them I would paint the gold parts either black, or silver.

Thinking of selling...
I would keep it if I were in your situation. Hand it down to a child or grandchild.

Anyone looking for a new 280ZX Turbo?
Well, MSRP was $13,850 - $14,300 for a 1980 10th anniversary 280zx, so I would guess a little more than that. whoops, you beat me!

I have a question about horsepower.
Literature is your friend. I would invest in one or more of these books if I were you. They are a bit expensive, but well worth the money. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/TB Also buy a Haynes manual for you car if you havent already. I bought my first z car at 17. Now at 19, I feel very confident working on z cars (but I have done a LOT of work on my and other Z's ). I had previous car experience before then, but Z cars are a different story. Trial and error is a big part of my learning experience, as is the majority of car geeks. Start small, then work your way to the bigger mods. You cant just jump in with an engine swap etc....

I have a question about horsepower.
l28et. that is the only engine that is cheap and powerful that is within your range.

I have a question about horsepower.
you can spend anywhere between $0 and $5000 for a turbo engine. It all depends.

I have a question about horsepower.
Well, lets say I know some people who have over $9000 in their N/A engines alone. And they are making 300-350hp. Cheap(er) power will come from a turbo engine. With the L series engines that is.
