Vibrating shifter
1. take the center console out 2. take both of the rubber boots off of the shifter 3. carefully remove the c-clip on the pin holding the shifter in the tranny 4. pull the pin holding the shifter out The shifter should pull straight up and out after those steps. 5. install new bushings in the shifter, not the transmission tabs 6. then put it back together. Thats how I did it on my 260z. I have never done shifter bushings on a 240z but I would imagine the steps are very similar, if not identical to the 260z.

What did you find under your seat?
You must have the rare Fred Flinstone edition 240z. FFHS3000001

What did you find under your seat?
Lets see, under my 260z seats I found rodent droppings, some broken glass, a few coins mostly pennies, a lot of that 'straw' stuff from the bottom of the seats, and a couple old gum wrappers. Nothing interesting, just the usual. I havent checked under my 280zxt seats yet, I'll do that tomorrow! Intersting thread, lets keep this one going!

What does your Z want for the Holidays?
I need a radio desperately. My s130 has the original tape player radio, both speakers in the dash are blown along with 1 rear speaker, so that leaves me with 1 crappy 6x9. Well, at least the antenna comes up when i turn it on,

I noticed the body line where you shaved the fuel door is a little off. Are you going to address that, or do you care.

Staggered wheels on a 73
Yeah. I remember my dad put a 15x8 wheel with a 295/50 tire on rear of his 280zx, and they fit right in there perfectly. I dont remember the offset though. Just so you know, if you put a 225 tire on a 8 inch wide wheel, the tire will looked slightly stretched...most 225's are meant for min. 6" max. 8" wide wheels.

Staggered wheels on a 73
Well around here we call Hybridz.org "the other site". Why, I have no idea. Here is another quote I found that may be of interest to you.... "So i have a set of rims 15x8 with a 2mm offset or so the sticker on the rim says i still need to measure backspace to be sure . I just mounted a wide set of tires 295/50/15 11 inch wide tread 12 inch wide sectional 27 tall if i remember . Ive lowered the car 1 1/2 inches over stock only issue is i have 1/8th of a inch between the rubber and the rear spring lower perch . "

Staggered wheels on a 73
Heres a quote i found on "the other site" "1972 240z, Sportmax 16x8 0 offset wheels, 225/50-16 tires. Car lowered slightly. Rear tire sidewalls rub on uneven terrain and during bumpy corners. Will adjust ride height up and add rear sway bar to stiffen. If that doesn't do it, will move rear springs to front and use stiffer in rear. UPDATE 051107 Ride height adjusted up .6". New trim height is 26.1" measured from ground to fender lip at wheel centerline. Added Suspension Techniques rear sway bar (nicely engineered btw) Rear springs are 170 lb/in Verdict - Still rubs on extreme bumps. Will move rear springs to front and use 200 lb/in in back." I am not sure, but a +14 offset may be a little to close to rubbing the strut. Hope this helps!

Engine Bay with Triple Webers and Interior Shot...
Thats true. Thats also why the original air box had air horns built in (for su's). Ive always wondered something though...... does it make a difference in performance if the air horn is longer or shorter?

240Z sidemarker to turnsignal conversions available
You only mention 240z in your desctiption. Do these conversion pigtails also work with the 260z and 280z? This would be great on a 260z - 280z since the turn signals are not visible at all from the sides. Thanks- Justin

Tommo 560's 77 260
Yes you are right mr. camo, I guess working around diesel trucks is getting to me (memory loss) Just curious Tommo, how did you go about painting the trim? Is it powdercoated, did you sand it and paint it?

I remember seeing a s30 with flush mounted side markers somewhere. I dont remember where, but it looked really cool. Maybe you can do that? Just an idea

Triple Carb vs. Holley 4BBL Carb
Im talking about the early round tops. I dont know why i get that mileage.... maybe I need to rebiuld them.

side markers yes or no?
I like what I did. I made my front marker lights into turn signals.... and im going to shave the rear marker lights. I think that will be cool looking.

Thanksgiving devorce
That is so wrong and funny at the same time. Good one!

Triple Carb vs. Holley 4BBL Carb
fwiw you dont have to run a 4bbl. I ran a morotcraft 2bbl, and it had tremendous response, tons of high rpm pull, and great mileage compared to my su's. With the 2bbl, I got 26 in the CITY, and with the su's the best I could get was 23 on the HIGHWAY. EDIT: I dont know if they have an intake manifold for a motorcraft, my application consisted of a custom intake manifold, and a carb spacer.

Your car is beautiful. wow. Are those rolled fenders, or flares molded to the body?

New guy from Vancouver, BC
I've always wondered why the early s30's never came in black, they look plain sexy in that color. Very nice 240z!
