  1. I was so careful removing my wind shield. When moving it into the storage place I just barely tapped it on one corner. That’s all it took she cracked right down the middle long ways. I have been spending every spare moment just getting the body straight I had not even started to look for a replacement. Good to hear a local company had one and it was even priced right. In case anyone’s interested here is a link to the progress we have made. This has been a lot more work then I expected but its been fun!:classic: http://teamracephotos.smugmug.com/gallery/1552171

You guys are scaring me! I don’t mean to sound naïve but I have been under over and all around this car. I don’t see any more rust except for the passenger side firewall, floor and battery box. The driver’s side floor pan needs the area at your feet replaced. I am going to have both whole floor pans replaced. Am I not going to see all the rust until all the paint is stripped? This car is for me, for Sundays. I am not trying to restore it for show, just make it safe and fun to drive (plus look nice). I have budgeted 5k to bring it back (that includes what I paid for it). I don’t need it for every day so as long as it takes me is O.K. Looking online I have seen a lot of cars that looked worse then mine. I looked at all the videos from DatsunZguy, that looked really extensive! I know the person that has owned this car for the past 26 years. I have all the receipts, and even have the original Datsun warranty card (looks like a credit card) with the original owners name on it, which by the way is a Dentist in Colorado who is the person Diane purchased it from. I purchased it from her. Bottom line can I make this a safe fun car? MM

Thanks for all the input. If had been looking for a Z. I would have researched it better. I just happened into to this one (it was my firends x-wifes), it was being stored in a barn. When I went to take a look at it... Thats all it took. It is the same color as my first one. I drove it around for three weekends before tearing it down. The car is complete except for the rust. Well I am in to it now so lets see where it tskes me. I bought the replacement floors and front rails from Charlie Osborne. They will be here this week. I know someone with a metal shop that will cut eveything out and weild/fab everything back. I will be putting it back together. So I may have many more questions. MM:)

I just purchased this 1973 240Z. Looking for advice on restoring. If you have time take a look at the pictures located here http://www.canyondoggie.com/240Z.htm. Need to know things like. Should I media blast it? Do I replace rust spots with metal? Do you replace metal before media blasting? Any advice would be helpfull. Thanks Thanks for all the input. I am located in right next to Orlando. My Z is only really bad around the battery and floors. The rear and lid has no rust at all. When I get home tonight I will post the Vin #’s for my car. Any body have a idea how much “Dunking “a car can cost? Do you have to remove all the paint first? Thanks again
