  1. Here's what it looked like when I got it... what a mess. Being from Arizona, at least the body had no rust. Oh, and I forgot to say that it is repainted in its original color now.
  2. Well, it's been about 2 years since I bought it and got it to the condition it's in now... It now has an L28 N42 head with a 5 speed from a '77, SU carbs to be installed soon (from ZTherapy), and MSA Twice Pipes. EGR and air pump have been removed. I didn't have the rubber fillers for the bumpers, so I collapsed the shocks to make them fit closer to the body like the early 240Zs.
  3. Thanks again for all the input, I'll be going body color then. I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.
  4. Has anyone ever seen flat black painted up in the rear deck panel before? Was this something Nissan later did, or the previous owner getting involved? I have since replaced the rusted panel shown, but I am fixing to get the car painted and wondered if it goes black there or body color. Thanks for anyone who can clear this up...

Has anyone tried their redesigned "Premium" exhaust kit yet? It looks like they added flanges for a better fit. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEC27/15-6302
  7. Ah, so all '74 Zs (early) got the small bumpers and the switch to big bumpers starting in 9/74 then was for the '75 260z (late). I was under the impression that they did the switch earlier. Thank you for clearing that up.
  8. Does anyone know when in 1974 (what month) that the bumpers changed from the 240z style to the bigger 280z type? I've always heard of early '74 vs. late '74. Now looking at my 260z, which has the earlier 240z style bumpers and turn signals down below, I see the production date in the door jamb shows 8/74, indicating the final month of 1974 production. Can someone shed some light on this?

I just bought a '74 260Z from Arizona a few weeks ago that has been sitting for a while. It currently has an L26 and 4 speed that's not running and has the dreaded flattop carbs on it. I plan on putting an L28 with '71 S.U. carbs and a 5 speed from a '77 Z. I look foward to using this forum and getting this Z up and running soon. As you can see from the photos, I've got some work to do...
