  6. I ordered all the panels for one of my 71 Z's and being black they were all the same. My biggest issue was that I had to do a lot of edge trimming to get them to fit as they should, especially the pieces with the radio speaker holes. There was a lot of excess material on the edges (some places at least 1/4") Other than that they are very nice.

  8. I'll vouch for Dave's willingness to answer questions via email or PM. He provides good explanations that are easy to understand. As to his products, I have installed all the upgrades he makes for the 240Z on both of my 71 Z's. What a difference and less worries about the switches and fuse boxes.
  9. Completed installing the headlight upgrade harness, 60 amp alternator upgrade, marker light upgrade harness, and installed a new fuse box on 23305.

I don't know what it sold for, but when I talked to the gentleman in Colorado he was asking $7,000 back in January. With everything required for a restore it is way beyond my wallet. The owner at that time said the engine had an E88 head, but he had an E31 that he would include with the car. Sounds like he must have swapped heads as the ad says it has the E31 on it.The one thing the EBay photos don't show real clear is the chunk missing in the dash above the tach. Also the seat covering is not original as the ad says. Looks like velour material. As much as I want a low number I just couldn't jump on it. Hopefully it finds a good home and receives all the tender care it deserves.

Here are some pics I received of 000182 in Jan of this year from the owner at the time. It was located in Colorado at that time.
  12. Never an issue with condensation as there wasn't an "air/water" tight seal. To install you had to file/sand (as psdenno mentioned above) down the edges to get the fit as close to the headlight bucket as possible. Tedious process to get the right fit, but well worth it. I ran 100W Hella halogen headlights.
  13. Today I had a very nice conversation with Gayle Brock regarding the rear spoiler. The crew at BRE gathered together yesterday after the Tribute 240Z returned to their shop to discuss the issues I brought up with fitment and talked to the individual who installed the rear spoiler on the Tribute 240Z to see what issues he had encountered. It was discovered that the mounting studs on one side were moved inward (1/8" by my measure). Gayle said they will be sending me the previous version to replace this current version. While I was talking with Gayle I happened to ask about the clear headlight covers that BRE sold back in the early 70's and if they may consider bringing them back. She said they actually had recently had that discussion and are considering it. Their concern is if there is enough interest in their clear covers. I had them on my 5/71 Z and really liked the looks (when I got her back the covers were not on her) Very clean looking compared to the ones available today with the rubber seal.
  14. I am not sure that the installation would be any different given the rear hatch is the same as it was 40+ years ago and these rear spoilers are to be the same as 40+ years ago. Here are the instructions I found https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByCvxnHNk90SYzVBMS05STRRdS1IeG1NUjZhMUlSQQ/edit?sort=name&ddrp=1&layout=list&pid=0ByCvxnHNk90SRXpBZ2NaTDNTX2FLVTd6UUhBRkJpdw&cindex=17 Unfortunately the current spoilers do not come with everything listed on the original instructions.
  15. Today I thought I'd go ahead and do all the measuring/marking for installing the BRE rear spoiler. What I discovered is that the outer studs are not the same distance apart as the originals, making it impossible to install. The original studs, according to installation instructions I found on line, were 40 3/4" apart. The current spoiler has the studs at 40 5/16". I am disappointed that a BRE product doesn't meet the standards that the early year products did. I have great respect for BRE and this won't change my support for them.
  16. I ordered one of the rear spoilers and received it yesterday. I was wondering if others here have ordered this spoiler from BRE and if what they received was of the same finish as the one I received. I did speak with an individual at BRE and was told all the ones in stock look the same as the one I received. I have to admit I was a bit surprised at the lack of finish as I was expecting a ready to bolt on spoiler.
  17. She sure is pretty! I've used Meguairs wax/glaze for years. Does a great job.
  18. VERY Nice. Lucky you. Back in the fall of 1969 I was out looking/driving a couple different sports cars available - MGB, MGB/GT, Triumph Spitfire and TR6. One day I stopped in to Valley Datsun in Spokane Wa. where I first saw a 2000 roadster. The sales man took me for a drive in a red roadster that had just come off the truck. WOW!!! So much fun and fast. I ordered one right then. Unfortunately, not to much later, he showed me the first brochure for the 240Z. I dropped my roadster order and replaced it with a Z order. Still like the roadsters.
  19. Thats a nice find there. Too bad you are having to deal with all the electrical, but better you than me ;-) Curious ' bout the brake master cylinder. Never seen one like that on a Z.
  20. My simple tool for removing the clip is a straight section of a metal clothes hanger with a 90 degree bend in one end that is about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch long.
  21. One thing I do is ensure the top part of the retaining clip is toward the handle to make it easier to get off and that it is pushed all the down to where the curves in the lower part of the retaining clip are able to protrude through the slots and lock on the regulator.
  22. Bought my Z from Jaremko Motors in Spokane, Wa., July 1971. First photo was on her maiden voyage to California from Spokane. The photos of it within the roped off area are in 1984 when I sold her at Tri Cities Nissan, Pasco, WA. The last photo is when I got her back in 2008. She is within about a month of being back on the road. See my garage for some photos after her new paint.
