  1. To start with the car is a '71 "Z" with 280ZX running gear, motor, 5-speed, R200. I don't know what bearing is installed. Motor runs fine the car won't go into gear, but did shift a year ago when last ran. Before installing the slave I moved the fork back and forth to ensure the bearing wasn't froze up. Changed the master and slave (NAPA), still nothing. Fluid flows from the slave so that tells me there's fluid all the way down the line. During bleeds the pedal firms up but nothing comes out of the slave no air or fluid. Obviously there is no movement at the pushrod or fork. With everything connected I manually actuated the pushrod and can see the fuid in the master respond. I'm stumped, anyone have any thoughts
  2. Ooops, I posted a question before doing a search. What a great site found what I needed 1st post of search. Damn, these senior moments seem to coming at closer intervals these days.
  3. I have a '71 240z, does anyone have the bolt sizes for both the front and rear bumpers ? My car didn't have any when I bought it and I've just recently scored both. Wow, not much protection there, .
  4. The best I remember (disclaimer: I'm over 55 and thus subject to bouts of MAD COW from time to time), where were we? Ohh yea, well it sounds like you're already on the right trac by using the Maxima (79-83) rear disk brake bracket. That will allow the use of 82-83 280ZX rear rotor's and caliper's to do a pretty much straight bolt on. Also, look at Zs-onthebrain (member) 260z build for some good info concerning the e-brake and definately use the 15/16" M/C (79-81 280ZX) you'll be glad you did.
  5. Excellent thread Arne. Thanks for the investment in time, effort, and $$$ to pull off your R&D of the droning issue. My PO had also installed the MSA exhaust kit that I'm not satified with, and this is a great follow up your other thread (A review of what s gone period 240Z exhausts). Is there any chance we may get an exhaust vid of your efforts?
  6. Very nice pic. IMHO you can never go wrong with pics from F1, MotoGP, LeMans, etc. and should always be posted for all to see the pinnacle of motorsports. Please no NASCAR . . . !!!
  7. Wow!!! Now that's gettin 'er in the weeds. While I'll admit it's a little extreme for my 54 yr old body to endure his vision, I do appreciate his or anyones effort for theirs . . . except the tire choice. Kudo's to Miguel for bringing his vision to reality.
  8. Hummm, maybe I should have given the title a little more thought. What I should have said is New Z "too me" or Possible New Z for me. In any case, thanks for the responses and keep those thoughts, comments, and opinions coming!!!
  9. So, I was trolling Craigslist this morning and came across this '72 "Z" 100K miles, $4000. The owner says the body is straight and he did a surface paint job to refresh it, but didn't do the eng bay? The engine was overhauled sometime back otherwise the drivetrain, suspension, interior . . . basically the car is stock. The interior is all there but worn, dash is cracked. He has both bumpers but they're dinged, and he has all the lights. Only flaw he's aware of is a leaking Rt front caliper. The price seems high but what would be considered fair?
  10. Just came across your thread very nice garage, how big? Don't ya just hate rust, everytime I see a set of pans missing it just makes me cringe. Then again I just came in from hammering off the Rt rear drum, slipped and sent the hammer through the fwd lwr wheel well . . . damn! Great job so far, keep us posted.
  11. I'm in for 1ea RT Mount, thanks for resurrecting the mod.
  12. Kenshin7, in my opinion it's your car, express yourself, everything is fixable. You've probably gathered by now this may not be the forum to research, as ClassicZcars is dedicated to mostly stock, stock restoration, and/or stock-"ish" restomod's of "Z"cars. While it might seem as if we're bashing you, we are actually just grumpy old men who wake up with stiff sore backs from "been there, done that, got the t-shirt". As already stated HybridZ would be the place to start your research. There members have a much greater wealth of information in discussion, experimentation, and application of the technical aspects you're looking at in modding your "Z" car. I highly encourage you to have fun with your car, be it, better motor, suspension, aero-styling (please no bedazzling, mohawks, or pink shag carpeting ). Continue with the research, ask lots of questions, and remember fuction over form always, and keep us posted! However, if form should win out and your just throwing cash around remember who said this and slip me 5K on the backside to finish my car.
  13. Damn, that's a clean "Z". At this point my wildest imaginings are that my "Z" will some day be half that nice. By the way, good job on what you have accomplished so far.
  14. A V8 Z is a beautiful thing when done right, and based on what you've already done to the 260 would be awesome. Congrats Dave thats a very lucky "Z".
  15. Dave, Does your car suffer nose bleeds being that high off the floor? Seriously though, I was toying with the same idea with some left over scrap wood I have laying around. Did you use the same wood beam shoring front and back, could you post a pic? It has got to make life working/moving around under there a whole lot easier. Jim
