This post is strange. $18,000 USD is a lot of money to spend on a 240z. That equates to around $39,000 NZD, which you could buy a new pretty awesome car for over here. Actully, thats a crap load of money! Anyway, about the porche's and stuff, the thing is, that the Datsun 240Z are relativly common in USA compared to UK, and are not realy known as a prestigous classic car, as the european ones are, which gives the car its worth. Thats what I think, you can buy a compleatly restored 240z, with extras (body kit, etc) here for around $10,000 to $12,000 NZD. This is about $4500 - $5500 USD. Dang, i dunno, i guess what im saying, is that in many countries, $18,000 USD would be considered a rip-off, but thats just my opinion.

Cool, thanks both of ya! I read up at the IZCC website, and found that the better 240z was the 1972 model, so hopefully I can find my self one of these. Its gonna be har tho, I think there are only about 50 Zs in the whole country.

Hey, I'm looking at 240z for my first car, but was wondering what the difference between the models of each year are. From the looks of it, the body shape makes really small changes, but that might just be my crap eyes. But, is there any other engine, gear box etc differences that I should be aware of before looking for my prize?
  25. Well, I'm one more to add to the four or five teenagers here, and three New Zealanders I've seen so far. I'm 16, still go to school and own no car at all. This is due to my lazy response to getting my license and even lazier effort at trying to find a job. I first heard about 240zs when I saw one sitting up the road and found out that it belonged to my hairdresser, who is constantly restoring it. Ever since I saw it, I wanted one. It dosn't make it easy in New Zealand tho, it's really hard to find Z cars, especailly 240zs ('73 as I want). I'm always looking out for them tho, hoping my parents will shout me the extra cash. Yea,,, thats me..
