1/4 mile Drag results
I tried to see the video but the link wouldn't work for me. I'll try tomorrow at work. Your car sounds great. I'm just checking into building a simiar engine. Maybe a little milder and probably single turbo. Louie.

Introduce yourself to the class?
I'm Louie from Seguin, Texas near San Antonio. 48 years old with two sons, 16 and 25, and a non-car person wife. She got fairly mad when I bought my 74 260 back in january. She got even madder when I bought a second 74 260 two months later. The first car is already running but we are still working out the electrical bugs. Paint shop right after that. Both are project vehicles but very rust free. I'm keeping an eye out for a 71-73 240Z. I am a mechanic (instructor) but I still can use help with lots of Z specific issues. I've always loved cars and have several daily drivers and two other "classics." How does a 62 nova convertible (V-8) and a hemi-powered Desoto sedan sound. I also have a couple of stalled projects (64 Mercedes sedan and 73 Hornet X fastback) and a dragrace (very slow 13.50's) buick big block sedan. I had a 73 240 about 8 years ago but sold it to finance other projects.(home). I think the young man that bought it wrecked 1 month later. I plan on keeping these two much longer unless I find a 240. No Spark
To check if your points are working (even if they are new) use a test light on the negative side. Crank the starter and the light should go on-off-on-off, etc as the engine cranks. If you have no light here the points are not working or some wire is shorted. Start there and see what you find. Louie.

Ignition interlock
Pretty much what I was wanting to hear. If it's not needed to run I won't worry about it. who needs buzzers anyway! thanks, Louie.

Ignition interlock
Does anyone know what the ignition interlock does on a 74 260? The car seems to be starting without this box being connected. Any Idea what this is and what it does. How about running without it? Louie.

How common are electrical Problems?
I take it that the odds are pretty good that my other Z should have no electrical problems other than possibly a fuse box. My problem Z seems to have a good fuse box. No signs of any damage there. Actually I have no idea where the problem originated since the car was already taken apart. He gave up on the car due to this problem. Thanks.

How common are electrical Problems?
I've got a 74 260 with all kinds of problems. A few years back I had a 73 240 and the only problem I had was a bad alternator. I have not started on my other 74 so I am not sure if it has any electrical issues. Is this one area of weakness for Nissan? We shouldn't discount it as an age issue because I have two older cars without electrical problems. Louie

Signal light problem
Most of the wiring problems are being located but we still have trouble with the signal lights. Four way(emergency) flashers work but the only way we can get the turn signals to work is to send a direct hot wire to the flasher and disconnect the emergency flasher switch. Lots of spare parts were included with my car so we are trying everything. Any ideas? Louie.

Louiem
My Z is up and running finally. I had been considering a Z car and quickly snap one up when I saw an ad for a 74 260Z($700). It was supposed to be running but needed major electrical work. The owner claimed he had driven around the block a few times. I tried starting it but with no luck. It cranked real hard like it had a spun bearing or similar. Inspecting the oil showed too much oil plus fuel contamination. I remember the guy saying he rebuilt the carbs(flat tops). Probably not a good job. We pulled the engine and found all the insides in great shape including the bearings but after cleaning the block we discovered a crack under the manifold area and I decided not to use this block. He had given me two spare blocks , an L26 and a L28. The L28 proved to be fine and we rebuilt that one(minor rebuilt, rings, bearings, etc.) It turned out quite nice. 2 0r 3 weeks after I bought this car I decided to stop by a car lot I had seen a Z parked and ask about it even though I had already asked once before. This time he surprized me and wanted to sell it.($500) Another 74 260Z but this one with the round top carbs. It also needs work but we are using it to help sort out the wiring on the first one and I have robbed the carbs for the first Z. Anyone have a set of round tops they want to sell? Any way I soon hope to have one Z running and legal. By the end of the year I should have two. I have a good friend working on the wiring and he has it almost all done except for turnsignals. Charging system also needs help but he's getting there. Louie.

Ford Tempo Topaz forum......
Some of us have lots of cars and joining forums like this (and Tempo/Topaz,Chevy,Acura,etc) helps us get in touch with other people that have similar cars. Last time I was at a dyno I saw a 4 cylinder Pinto wagon crank out 212 chassis horsepower. (turbo) I'd sure hate to run against that guy and his mid 14's quarter mile unless I'm in my chevy powered buick. I would think my Z would do much better on the twisties. Louie.
