Chris, thanks for posting this! Message of warmest regards and thanks have been sent.
  2. Will, just have a third arm attached like good 'ol Zaphod Beeblebrox!
  3. It would be nice if the seller were to post some photos of what has already been done, as well as a description of what those "rare" parts are. If it is all it is cracked up to be, $6,000 may not be a bad starting point for such a low vin vehicle.
  4. Have you had a chance to go over the car yet? If so, how do things look? Pictures, please! Let's see the good, bad, and ugly bits (don't be shy, we've all been there!)

Here's a thread that delves deeply into the cash + car equation: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22084&highlight=ghost Happy reading

What has been said about cash and our Z cars is too true. I just received my refund check from my financial aid and knew immediately that there could be serious repercussions from its presence. To avoid potential problems, here is what I have done, and I hope it works... First, I went to the bank to deposit most of the amount. I kept $50 out and went straight to the parts store and bought a new fuel filter and ordered a new fuel pump. I had to show the little one where my priorities lay, and I think it has worked. Just to be safe, I will be picking up a few "surprises" at the store today, in the form of new fuel lines and vacuum tubing, and I may be ordering an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator... You've done it right so far, in that you have already ordered the replacement parts-ignoring Kharma's wants and needs will only lead to bad kharma from Kharma; what you do now and how you act will either build trust or destroy it.

Nice gnose with metal/chrome headlight cover retaining pieces.

They are removable, but you need to be careful. There have been discussions in other threads about how to remove the rubber line, but this is how I did it on my set of spares (the rubber was brittle and rotted). Using a new exacto blade, I cut down lengthwise from the free end in order to find the end of the injector. Do this slowly, since you don't want to mar the tip. Once you have found the end, realign the blade so that the cutting edge is facing outward. Leverage it in between the injector and hose, and slowly work your way down to the metal retaining ring. Once you are at the ring, it gets more difficult to work because the hose has been crimped in there, and is much denser. A little swearing and persistence will get you through the last bit. Just take your time, and it should go well. Others have mentioned using a soldering gun to melt/soften/burn the rubber away, but you would need to be very careful to not damage/melt/warp the injector, but if you are comfortable with the gun (and take your time), this might be the easier way to go.
  9. I will second (third, fourth, fifth-whatever) the RB suggestion. Since it is straight six, it will allow you to keep that much desired space to work in your engine bay (something that is bemoaned by VG owners), as well as having mechanicals that you are probably somewhat accustomed to. You would still be keeping the car Nissan, and I've always felt that the RB line was (is) the natural successor to our venerable L series. FWIW
  10. Here are some of the shots concerning the previous responses. And here are a few thoughts that came to mind as I looked at the car: Has anyone else wondered what the underside of the car looks like? Yet another use for duct tape-window sealant! Where are the windshield wipers? Not that I would want to drive this car in the rain...or at all.
  11. Well at least the rims look nice...

They look great-but I've a question- are they leather, pleather, or vinyl?

Mohamed, this just shows you have good taste. Sure, your 280 was a pain in the butt sometimes, but you always tried to do your best; and when you went for a "new" car, you did get a very nice M5...

My friend, let me be the first to tell you "Told you so!" Me thinks it's time to plan a trip here to find another one!!

Good for you (and Lindsey)! It's amazing how daunting a project can seem, until you dig into it. It's good that you waited to start until you had all the things you need, rather than piecemail it like I tend to do...

I think that's just you, Doug. The car looks great, and I really like that front airdam-it looks mean...

Linkstar, you don't buy a lock "without" the keys, you just don't use the keys that come with the lock. Locksmiths will take your new lock cylinder and your old key and reset the lock tumblers to work with the original key. The keys that came with the new cylinder then become superfluous.

So, I guess in your case it is a Find-A-Key. Congratulations on your little surprise.

Just as Ricky Bobby is leaving the hotel where his father is (Bobby delivered pizzas there), you can see a Z31 in the parking lot with its T tops out.

You are going to want to get into the gas tank in order to do a visual inspection. There is a filter on/in the fuel pump that is probably gunked up. Atlanticz has a great writeup on cleaning/inspecting it (as well as other things). The Redline FI engine treatment will help clear the varnish crud from your lines, but before you use it, you will need to get as much old gas and accumulated stuff out of the system. Search the site for "Seafoam" and using it to clean the internals. The stuff is great, and I recommend using it to clean your valves and such. Just make sure you don't use it in your garage, it smokes ALOT.

just a quick guess- crud in your fuel lines, starting at the tank and going up through the fuel filter and (if it got past the filter) in your injectors. I think that besides replacing the filter, you might wish to invest in a couple bottles of Seafoam and Redline injector cleaner. Of course, you probably have thought of these things, so this is more for those that will follow. FWIW
  24. How about Courtesy Nissan? Worth checking... http://www.courtesyparts.com/
