Jdm Tach ? ? ?
I think someone watched Spinal Tap one too many times. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, here is the exchange about amps: Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and... Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

a Very Icy day
The texture of ice over the car was really cool looking (no pun intended), but took quite some time to scrape off.

Water leakage
pulled out the carpet to hunt down a leak. I don't think I'll put it back in, I like how it looks bare.

floor mat
the floor mats that came with my car. I don't think they are original, and they are too nice to use.

Question on replacing shocks
agreed-might as well get as much done at once as is reasonably possible. I would be very careful about falling into the "While I'm At It" syndrome (discussed in length in a different thread), and biting more off than you can chew. As such, might I suggest that when you are under the car spraying the PB blaster (or lube of your choice-though PB is GREAT), you check all the afformentioned items, make your to-do list, order whatever you need, and stick to your list! good luck!

Question on replacing shocks
- Brake help
Snip-"One of the left front pads was almost completely gone and the remaining still had some pad left. However, the right side pads were still in good shape. What caused this and how do I correct it?" I recently had an issue where my Right front pads where wearing faster then their left counterparts, and the car was pulling to the right upon braking. What was happening in my case was that the brake caliper was sticking. I wasn't able to tell if it was the caliper that needed repair, or if it was an issue with the 27 year old rubber brake lines. I replaced the lines (good idea), but this did not solve the problem, but did make it better. It turned out that my caliper was sticking, and was getting progressively worse. How can you check this? Drive around the block, come home, jack the car and try to rotate the wheel. If your caliper is sticking, you will have trouble turning the wheel. Hopefully my personal experience will be of some use, but do a quick search-there is a ton of info that will help (that's where I started), and I know that our brake systems are different, so you may find some tricks/suggestions there that will help. Good Luck- New Guy
it's too hard on the monitorsLOL Welcome to the forums!- it is more forgiveable to use
Of all the choices, I think this is the most important: what ever I can make fit and look right, what ever makes the car more enjoyable to me The simple fact that we all have Z cars (or ZX, in my case:stupid: ) show that we all have great taste, and want cars that are as special and individualistic as thier drivers. A couple choices that could have been included would be "custom paint-anything from luminescent to BRE/vintage/race style" as well as "replica racer modifications" (think or Ron Carter's BRE 240-total custom conversion). I would, if money were no option, attempt to convert my 79 into the Paul Newman/Bob Sharp racer. Finally, perhaps a "Custom Bodywork-i.e. covertable/GTO/other conversion kit." Overall, the choices you included are fine, and encompass what most of us would consider. The clarification that is included in the individual postings lets everyone explain where they are coming from, and where they want to go.- Monte-Carlo, hop-in
I was interested in the 450Z section of your site-I see that your forum is ready for the future; though I must admit to being surprised by its inclusion on the banner. I am learning French (slowly), so I will be checking your forums in an attempt to accelerate my understanding. If the subject is something of interest, it's always easier to learn.- Big Day Tomorrow
"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Benjamin Franklin Wiser words have rarely been spoken.- 79zx (ebay) with different body kit
I post this only for posterity-this ZX (deserves to be bought for parts, then crushed while it still has some dignity:mad: ) has a different kit on it, one that I've never seen before, and thought should be shared. The link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-NISSIAN-1979-280-ZX-SPORTS-CAR_W0QQitemZ140079248676QQihZ004QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem- it is more forgiveable to use
I would love to keep the car looking period correct, since the design is so clean and distinctive (yes, I agree that the earlier models are sexier), but like the thought of having modern guts doing the work, especially braking. There are several tasteful bodykits out there, and I still think about the ZX Gnose kit I found available in England.- Mystery part under dash
Throw it away and it'll be a Pentagone.- Peter Brock injured at SCORE's off-road race
Everyone-this is just one of the many reasons to give blood. It's great to read that the Brock family is pulling through this-it is hard to keep a good man down, I'm sure Mr. Brock will be up and about in no time.- Original Keys pictures
Absolutely. But keep in mind that my ZX is from 4/79. My key works for all my locks-doors, ignition, gas, and hatch. I thought that I had seen replacements for sale that differentiated between my build year, and the following years, so this could just be a matter of parts being shared from one gen to the next, as seen with 240/260/280 parts.- Speed

We have a few members down there, Mckrack-this guy is just about 20 minutes north of you-maybe you should check him out for our fellow roadster owners.- Top Car Movies
Yes and yes. Dakar highlights have been on Speed channel for a few weeks, and Baja is doing very well. Rally coverage in the US has never been good, quite surprising what with the success of the Evo and WRX. I didn't see Tucker on your list, perhaps that should be included. The World's Fastest Indian would be worth checking out, even though it deals more with motorcycles (more specifically A Motorcycle), its got some great Bonneville salt flat footage. - Brake help
