Canon Manifold gets a respray
Lots and lots of tape and wire brushing went into this Cannon Triple weber manifold before the red Hi heat went on.

Driveline removal...
I cannot think of any way but to undo the four nuts and remove the bolts from the flat bit at the rear of the drive shaft. you know the drill; block the wheels front and back 'cause you'll need the hand brake off to rotate the driveshaft to get at those nuts. Don't loose the lock washers they are important. though you might be able to replace with those nylon lined self locking nuts. I actually kina prefer them myself. Bite the bullet and just do it. 280Z drivers side trunk trim panel
Afternoon Everyone Is anyone aware of a (8) 1975 or later 280Z with a decent interior being scrapped? It appears I am missing the black plastic panel(drivers side) that covers the speaker up to the strut tower. I beleive this panel differs from earlier units (240 and 260 maybe), in that it is thicker , and has rectangular slots as ventilation holes along top edge. Any help in aquiring this piece would be greatly appreciated . Bloxman

velocity stacks
Roger Hi there I am not ging to flame you. But I'm not going to be a great deal of help either I would like to help but cannot. 1) I am running 42 's and not 40's . 2) Actually I do not have any velocity stacks at all. I have a little "tang in my K& N air filters that hold the Venturies (sp?) in place. Sorry Maybe this is a help http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Weber-Carburetor-DCOE-40-Air-Horns_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33551QQihZ012QQitemZ220083352529QQrdZ1 Lawrence

Distibuter Timing
Afternoon Everyone First of all lets just say I was real real wrong , there is nothing wrong with timing. View first photo . This photo was taken with a welding rod in #1 Spark plug whole (feeling Top centre) in reality the rod touches just inside the whole,a 1 +1/16 socket on Crank shaft Pulley, The timing appears near perfect to me. I applied a drop of silver paint in the general area of the notch in the pulley, to make it easier to see. The rotor is pointing directly at where the tab is at on the outide of Distributer cap.(corresponds with #1 spark plug terminal inside Cap) See photo #2. I'll tell ya what wasn't perfect though The Cause The rotor is able to rock laterally (I could move it towards the head, and towards the inner Fender. This rotor was supplied to me New in a box when I purchased a USED Distributer from someone from another club. It appears he supplied the wrong rotor for this Application. Though in his defence the bonehead behind the counter at Canadian tire could be the culpret. The box is marked as Standard and has a part # JR85 I'm actually worried the cap is also wrong.(they were suplied as a pair) Cap box is marked Standard and has a part # JH74 The Effect There are gouges out of the contact points on one side of the Distributer cap See photo #3. Solution I have included a couple of pictures of the offending rotor (underside shots), and of a rotor that was in tough shape but came on the Used dizzy I Purchased. I suspect the old rotor is the correct one and will attempt to clean up as best I can. I would like an opinion as to whether anyone's rotor looks like the old one (bottom of the two in PHOTO #4 ) If anybody would have appropriate part # and manufacturer I'd really appreciate it. Actually, you could throw in a part number for a cap too, as its likey this is somehow wrong also . Fits good though. GROAAAAAN! Oh Well, at least I suspect I know what the problem is. Lawrence

Distibuter Timing
Update O.K. guys I gave everything(the two bolts a little slack ,and turned in a counter clocwise fashion . And the revs come down. I kept turning until the revs came to between 800 and a thousand. I test drove the car a little!!! (it wouldn't get outa the driveway), lacked power and wanted to cut off. Sooo.. the timing is way off. Funny that it ran so well! actually its kinda freaking me out a little like their is some thing wrong with the clutch. I suspect it must be 180 degrees rotated . So I went back to basics or tried anyway I took out the # 1 plug and shoved a piece of welding rod in the plug hole. took off the cap and crawled under the car with my 1/2" drive sockets and nothing .. I don't seem to have any thing large enough in a short socket to fit . its way bigge rthan 19mm and it's even bigger than 1" that a little more than 25mm. Anybody know what size it is ? Looks like it will need to be thin walled too. Anybody knows I'd appreciate it otherwise I 'll grab what I can over an inch and 25mm. Selection at the hardware is not exactly great at the hardware in Grenada.

Madkaw Any thoughts on which way to turn? I'm a little concerned about a flame fart out the forward most Carb as I will be right there. So.. clockwise or counter clockwise Thanks Lawrence
