  1. Daily driver and track car are miles apart. It can't be good at both, so you're going to give up something.

I found some 71 Virginia plates many years ago on ebay, but haven't used them yet. They were still wrapped in the original paper inside a large envelope.
  3. The wheels came off this thread over 100 posts ago when the fighting started. Several people are at fault, but a lot of your posts have been deleted. If you were to take the initiative and help change the tone, I think we could get this thread back on course.
  4. I see this thread has wandered way off course. It's a shame, but probably not surprising given the controversial nature of the subject.
  5. For those that ever run into the problem of breaking/losing the choke cable pin/fastener (see brass fastener above green arrow, where the cable goes around), DO NOT use a standard bolt and nut to repair this. That fastener assembly is designed to PIVOT due to the fact that you are moving the choke lever in an arc. If you use a standard bolt and nut you will clamp the little brass pulley and not allow it to move. The result will be 1) non-smooth movement of lever, and 2) eventual fatigue failure of the choke cable. I learned this from personal experience. The previous owner had used a standard bolt and nut, and one part of the cable failed on me. I had to purchase an entire choke cable assembly to get new cable with proper fastener. It's an expensive lesson.
  6. So in the final diagram you are running a new wire from the brake switch to the rear of the car?
  7. Nicely done, I didn't know this.

It too difficult to rate a modified car because it's impossible to know the mods and their quality.
  9. Looks like a 370Z tried mating with a VW bug.

I purchased my front and rear anti-sway bars as a set from Suspension Techniques.
  11. The diff on a 70-71 240Z is slightly forward as compared to all other Z's.
  12. Very interesting use of a valve cover.

O-rings would interfere with the movement of the piston as I see it, unless someone can show me something different.
  14. There are two master cylinders for the 240Z, early and late. Early is $300 and late is $100.

    That's a 57 Chevy mirror, isn't it?

Why, you'll be excommunicated for this!!
  17. I thought the 280Z transmission tunnel was a bit wider than the 240Z.
  18. Do you have to redo the plumbing on the 70-71 Z's?

I believe on most new cars the passenger side mirror only has slight curvature to give the driver about the same viewing angle as the driver side mirror without distorting the objects too much. Plus a wide angle makes things look closer, and too much can be a driving hazard. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Leon, good stuff. When we were designing systems for fluid flow in college, no one ever suggested we increase friction or reduce flow rate to improve efficiency. That's why I've always been baffled by the talk of backpressure.

Right hand mirror has to be completely different, with more articulation and different arm angle. They had flat mirrors on cars in the old days. Curved mirrors are maybe 25 years old or so. BTW, read your other threads. Guess we're back to square one. We have no solution that will look original.
  22. That is under consideration if they give me any ****.
  23. This is a real paint shop booths and all. They've been around for many years, wonder how much paint is missing from the cars of other customers. Granted it's primarily a collision shop, but they stripped this car down to metal, redid body work, primed, sanded, primed, blah blah blah....then base/clear. There are some other mistake too, but this is the biggy. I had all glass out and hardware off.
