  1. I'm not a true purist, but I don't believe in making the body the only thing left that is Datsun or resembles a Z. If you're going to bastardize your car that much, please remove the badging.
  2. I think the fact that the original wheels are there is a good sign that it probably hasn't been modified, which will make it easier to diagnose known issues.
  3. Agreed, the only purpose of the fancy materials is durability (i.e., longer life). There is no performance difference.
  4. Daily driver and track car are miles apart. It can't be good at both, so you're going to give up something.
  5. I found some 71 Virginia plates many years ago on ebay, but haven't used them yet. They were still wrapped in the original paper inside a large envelope.
  6. The wheels came off this thread over 100 posts ago when the fighting started. Several people are at fault, but a lot of your posts have been deleted. If you were to take the initiative and help change the tone, I think we could get this thread back on course.
  7. I see this thread has wandered way off course. It's a shame, but probably not surprising given the controversial nature of the subject.
  8. For those that ever run into the problem of breaking/losing the choke cable pin/fastener (see brass fastener above green arrow, where the cable goes around), DO NOT use a standard bolt and nut to repair this. That fastener assembly is designed to PIVOT due to the fact that you are moving the choke lever in an arc. If you use a standard bolt and nut you will clamp the little brass pulley and not allow it to move. The result will be 1) non-smooth movement of lever, and 2) eventual fatigue failure of the choke cable. I learned this from personal experience. The previous owner had used a standard bolt and nut, and one part of the cable failed on me. I had to purchase an entire choke cable assembly to get new cable with proper fastener. It's an expensive lesson.
  9. So in the final diagram you are running a new wire from the brake switch to the rear of the car?
  10. It too difficult to rate a modified car because it's impossible to know the mods and their quality.
  11. I purchased my front and rear anti-sway bars as a set from Suspension Techniques.
  12. The diff on a 70-71 240Z is slightly forward as compared to all other Z's.
  13. Very interesting use of a valve cover.
  14. O-rings would interfere with the movement of the piston as I see it, unless someone can show me something different.
  15. There are two master cylinders for the 240Z, early and late. Early is $300 and late is $100.

Why, you'll be excommunicated for this!!
  18. I thought the 280Z transmission tunnel was a bit wider than the 240Z.
