  1. Yeah, not enough to pay for the grinder.

It's the old back pressure argument. The engineer in me says the less restriction the better. More mass flow, less friction losses from turbulence is better. But some says you need back pressure; these discussions go back decades.

You mean this outfit is selling a left-hand mirror as a right-hand mirror? What the hell is wrong with them?

Aren't the dimension for 240, 260 and 280 all the same? Did the strut towers change that much?

For now I'm staying with the original manifold, which actually has been given a pretty good rating for a casted exhaust manifold.

I'm going to for 2-1/4" too, I hear it's gives you better mid-range power. 2-1/2" is good for racing and lots of high revs. That's what I hear.

My back glass has some scratches on it from an old louver. Maybe I'll sell the thing off one day.
  8. Not yet, only had on the lift once. Hopefully I'll have another chance.

http://www.datsunparts.com/Mirrors Has anyone purchased these mirrors? If so, how are they? How's the right hand side one work for you?
  10. Hey, if there's no paint along the bottoms surfaces, I think I have a right to expect paint on it. Sorry, but where the hell are you guys coming from? They didn't even seam seal the weld joints under the fenders. I let them have the car for 3 freaking years, and I get this. Do I really sound that impatient given all this?? I serious doubt that it didn't get painted because I didn't pay them $10K to fill their spray gun with paint. After $3K of sheetmetal work and $6500 worth of painting, I want paint where it should be painted.

Haha, notice the color....920. And everyone tells me how much they hate it. Eat your hearts out!
  12. I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't go to leather seat covers.
  13. You can do it yourself. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SIC03
  14. Mine has some cracks in the plastic, and I may just keep it to give the car character. All that shifting is hard on a shift knob. I'll clean up the wood and refinish that.
  15. Everyone has their own opinion as to what level of originality is the minimum necessary for it to be a Z. A Z is NOT a muscle car. A Z is NOT a Ferrari or a Chevy or a Chrysler or a Ford. It's not a jet or a diesel tractor. It's what Mr K envisioned it to be, which probably allows some latitude, but not too much. It's a fun car, a classic car, a elegant car, and it's unlike anything else. It's soul is what sets it apart, the essense of that brought it to popularity back in 1970. It was a mixture of known lines, yet in a unique form. It put the Japanese sport car industry on the map and shook the world. It's historic!!! It wows everyone who sees, even the owner.

All the fly-by-night outfits are in Oregon. No wonder.

Only gutless weenies change the color from original. Put a 350 in it next with a Mr Gasket shifter.

I was thinking of eventually have tinting installed professionally.
  19. Ugh, I don't think we're going to repaint the entire car for this.
  20. Sounds nice, any engine mods?
  21. Seems to me you shouldn't have to cut around on your car for an MSA part.
  22. Yes, it's back to the paint shop. After leaving the paint shop for the auto shop, the car was place on a lift and examined. Guess what was discovered? All the surfaces that face the ground was not painted properly, some merely coved in overspray. Anyone car to guess why? That's right, the painter was too lazy to bend over to get the bottom surfaces. You would have to lay on the ground to look up under the car to see this screw up. Am I frustrated after waiting 3 years for this car to come out of the paint shop? You damn straight I am. :disappoin This is absolutely outrageous! I'm beginning to think I'll never get this car back.

Amazing, hard to believe Rock Auto has carpet kits for an old Z.
  24. Les, keep up posted on the development of these panels. I'm interested.
  25. I thought you could still buy these knobs.
