    My problem - odd nuts!

I have the same problem, old nuts. Oh, you said odd.... sorry.
  2. 1970 Dashboard Original Dashboard & Steering Wheel - the correct steering wheel for the 1970 240Z did not have the cut-outs in the spokes. The center was painted a semi gloss black and the faux wood rim was also a semi gloss. There is the mysterious indent above the hazard switch, and the speedo zeroes at 20 mph. Note the AM radio in the center console and the flip up door to the fusebox. The 4 speed's shift knob is genuine wood. The slot next to the choke was for cars equipped with a throttle control. :cheeky:
  3. I have a 72 dash that has one little dent in it. Wonder if I ought to sell it?
  4. If someone could patiently explain to me what a 240K is, I'd appreciate it.

    horn upgrade

I wish I could mount an air horn in my Z, bet they never expect to hear that from a Z on the interstate.
  6. http://www.carsurvey.org/model_Datsun_240Z.html Interesting site I found surfing around that has car surveys.
  7. http://www.pertronix.com/home.htm http://www.carshopinc.com/product_info.php/products_id/80/1761 Check our these sites. At the Pertronix site check out the ignition kit link. My local Z shop is installing these into OEM 240Z distributors, while maintaining the original exterior appearance (i.e., you don't even know the car has electronic igniton). I'm told none have come back with problems.
  8. I understand there is a ground connection above the gas tank that tends to corrode. I believe they fixed this my car by putting a ground wire inside at the back of the rear deck. The ground connection added is behind the rear interior panel.
  9. Always put a little grease on your bolts if you can, it reduces the chance of rust and gives you a more accurate torque.
  10. Would it be useful to run a grounding strap from the rear underside of the car to the front (attaching it to the unibody along the way)? Would this improve the ground performance over the entire body for such issues as dim lights or intermittent faults?
  11. We learned the hard way about whether to call a cop or not. Someone rear-ended my wife's Expedition. It bent in the tow hitch, messed up the plastic/rubber pads on the bumper and cracked the taillights. I had to end up paying the $200 deductible on my insurance cause the "nice, cleancut" (who I met) gave bogus info. So while my insurance company tries to go after this guys insurance company, I have wait for a refund of my deductible. Hopefully I'll get it back, some day. Never again, always a cop.....NO MATTER WHAT! Check YOUR state laws: (excerpt) REPAIR OF MOTOR VEHICLES 2004 Florida Statutes TITLE XXXIII, CHAPTER 559 – PART IX (ss.559.901 – 559.9221) 559.909 Notification of charges in excess of repair estimate; unlawful charges; refusal to return vehicle prohibited; inspection of parts.-- (4) It shall be unlawful for any motor vehicle repair shop to fail to return any customer's motor vehicle because the customer has refused to pay for unauthorized repairs or because the customer has refused to pay for repair charges in excess of the final estimate in violation of this section........ 559.917 Bond to release possessory lien claimed by motor vehicle repair shop.-- (2) The failure of a lienor to release or return to the customer the motor vehicle upon which any lien is claimed, upon receiving a copy of a certificate giving notice of the posting of the bond and directing release of the motor vehicle, shall subject the lienor to judicial proceedings which may be brought by the customer to compel compliance with the certificate. Whenever a customer brings an action to compel compliance with the certificate, the customer need only establish that: (a) Bond in the amount of the invoice, plus accrued storage charges, if any, less any amount paid to the motor vehicle repair shop as indicated on the invoice, was posted; http://www.800helpfla.com/pdfs/MVR04.pdf There is a process, they cannot bully you. Drag the women into it since she wrote a letter to the shop. It would be interesting to know what she wrote. Good luck.

    Brown Bread Installation

Hey, where'd you get that paint? What brand and kind is it? How are you prepping the car for painting (e.g., stripping, filler, primers)?
  14. This arm must be made of Chrome-moly tubing or something. http://www.aedmotorsport.com/Chromoly/4130.html#Round%20Tube
  15. Maybe her ISP is messed up; it happens. :disappoin
  16. Gee, guess I don't have a story. I used my real name. I was around before the 240Z club, and everyone on IZCC knew me by bpilati, so I never changed it. Yall should ask Mike about the start of this club, and how it happened.
  17. I have some used parts from a 72 Z, if anyone is interested. I have a rebuilt engine, some suspension parts, differential, a fender, glass, other stuff. Sold as-is. I may use some of it, I don't know. Most likely will try to keep my car 71-ish. Just ask me, I may have something you can use.
  18. I owned a 71 510 once, really nice car... tough, man was it tough. Very tough. Engine too small, oh well.
  19. It's awesome and it's original. Case closed!
  20. Well, I believe my fuel vent lines are normal. The vapor tank, etc is hooked up, and I never saw anything unusual when I had the right interior panel removed once. The tubes on the left side of the engine compartment are all connected. I'm not sure of the gas mileage of my Z, and have never tested it to see if a full tank has been consumed.
  21. Marty, maybe (God forbid) you need to kick the side of you Z to get the sender to plunk into the proper position so you won't run out of gas.
  22. I think I'll stay abreast of this. Sounds interesting.
  23. Is it possible to purchase only the O-ring? Anyway my Z shop maintains that it's usually the sending unit that has a problem. I don't know, but my gage never reads exactly full or over full, but just a tad under when completely full. It's been too long to remember what it was like prior to this problem. Is it correct to assume that when the gage in on "E", there is still 2 or 3 gallons left as a reserve?
  24. Are you saying what I said is wrong? I don't follow.
