  1. My Z had a louver, I think it was an Interpart but don't remember. I took it off because it scratched the glass. The scratch is still there.
  2. Lights can be a tricky thing, because the DOT is particular about the color, number and brightness of them. There are lots of mods out there, but their technical legality may be questionable. They may question your modified lights if the the lights and housings weren't designed together. Then again it may not matter on an old car.
  3. Someone mentioned the seat pattern is wrong. That's because the seats are wrong. The car wouldn't have had fully reclining seats until 1972.
  4. Welcome to our website. Let us know if you need any help.
  5. I hate to see two of our long-standing members quarreling like this. Let's try to set the example and word our posts a bit differently. Thanks.
  6. There are no explosives used to inflate airbags. It is a chemical burn that produces a gas that inflates the airbags rapidly. They must inflate rapidly enough to meet the requirements set forth by NHTSA. They have developed smarter airbag systems in recent years that include sensing systems that measure the weight and seating position of the occupant, and adjust inflation accordly using multi-stage airbag inflators. I don't know if the NHTSA has changed the requirement for the unbelted occupant scenario, but it does make a difference in the speed necessary to inflate and coverage necessary to protect the occupant. Also guys, let's keep it friendly....okay?
  7. Apparently Dana Britton, the owner, claims on his website that you'll have your carbs back in about 10 days. If you haven't heard from him (you say 8 weeks) sounds like a serious problem. Do you have more details to share? Did you already pay for the carbs? Were you having your original SU's rebuilt? Who exactly did you speak to or email? Please PM me as well if I can help.
  8. I think there is something wrong with the video or link.
  9. All shocks are gas/oleo. Few shocks are made without a gas charge (e.g., nitrogen). When the 240Z was new they didn't use gas charged oleo shocks (the void area was just air), so the ride height is a bit lower than if you use gas charged oleo shocks with the same springs (e.g., stock springs). There are both low pressure and high pressure gas charges depending the shock you buy.
  10. Welcome to the party, Scarlette! I've heard the stories of regret for selling a Z many times. But now you're back. Hope you enjoy your new ride.
  11. Welcome to Classic Z Cars, Courtney. I think you'll find we're a fun group, and serious about our Zs. Enjoy!
  12. Ball and socket compression rods; he would feel every jolt. Don't put poly anywhere in your drive train, only in the suspension. Eibach are progressives right? You can't cut them without messing things up I believe. Too bad stock springs don't exist anymore. We had some made many years ago and sold by Courtesy, but I think they are gone.
  13. I wonder if I can give the owner infraction points.
  14. You have no excuse, hang your head!
  15. I have these very seat covers/foam inserts in my car.
  16. Just buy that station wagon they had a ZCon.
  17. My body shop screwed up my choke knob that was in perfect condition, and expoxed it back on. I did not know until working on the interior and needed to take the console out. Needless to say I was HIGHLY pissed. I found a "new" knob not in the same condition as the throttle knob (long story). So I cannot get the screw in because the threads in the screw are slightly messed up.
  18. I like it when Blue concurs. He's tired of the same old Nissan tired styling. It needs to end with the 370Z, and in the words of Carl Beck when the Z32 concept came out........"It's an ugly toad". It's time for retro, and back to basics with a twist. The 240Z was not style like other Datsuns, and so the new Z should not be style like other Nissans.
  19. Matsuo mentioned this at the 2013 convention.
  20. Nissan has gone full retard and shamed the name of Mr K again. Dumb jackasses should all be fired, fired I tell you!! The new Z should be a 2600 lbs advanced composite body 240Z with a 2.4 liter supercharged direct injection engine putting out 250+ hp. Almost no frills version. Lightweight like Lotus, with much more powerful engine. Furthermore it needs to look like a 240Z except with modern line, not that bull**** look they've been putting out.
  21. No factory air existed prior to the 260Z as far as I know.
  22. Les doesn't always respond or answer immediately. He's a great guy though, knows his ****! I've purchased a lot of stuff from him.
  23. And here I thought someone was trying something new.
  24. Why bother greasing the rear bearings when they last so long? Unless it's a daily driver they'll last over 40 years like mine.
