  1. Will aluminum accept a clear powder coating?
  2. Bottomline, US 240Z's never came with a right-hand side mirror, because they were not required by NHTSA. Cars came with what was required, and nothing more. Just like all the exterior lights were added to meet the minimum safety requirements of the particular country.
  3. I don't see much lumber support in those seats. Have you checked that out?
  4. GET SOME OIL ON THAT VALVE TRAIN!!! It look dry as a bone, even the cam lobes look like they have wear marks on them. I'd fix the cam sprocket and get the timing right.
  5. Carl, why would you want to suck gasoline vapors INTO the crankcase?
  6. Well I don't think you'd want this, because it has started developing tiny rust holes at the ends. It looks generally good overall though. I'm going to replace with larger exhaust system.
  7. Worn socket is my biggest issue. The silver around the edges is a bit rough, the mirror is very usable.....except the shake.
  8. Can't you repaint the old ones?
  9. Do they rebuilt the whole mirror, removing the worn socket joint?
  10. Hey Carl, looks like some old technology might have slipped through.
  11. Okay let me see: Jun 74 revision: Section 19-2 Engine mounting (Auto All. Manual up to C/# HLS30-46000) (From RLS30, GRLS30) Part # 11330-E4100 assembly Up to 7/73; Part # 11310-N3000 assembly From 8/73 Section 19A-2 Engine mounting (Manual from C/# HLS30-46001 RLS30 GRLS30) Part # 11330-E8700 assembly L24 Manual Up to 6/72; Part # 11310-N3000 assembly From 7/72
  12. Not in Americanese, Mr British man
  13. These are awesome photos, first I've seen these types of pictures. I find the middle two photos especially enlightening.
  14. That may be true, but I paid a paint shop to paint my car. They're paid to overcome these issues. The car will begin to rust if it isn't painted correctly, and they didn't seal the seams that they should have.

I believe that's the point I'm making. Thx.
  16. Did you paint everything before installing Dynamat?
  17. Apparently up to HLS30-46000 (L24) the rear engine mounting assembly was 11330-E4100 (up to 7/73) shown above on right for ALL transmissions, and from HLS30-46001 (L26) it was 11310-N3000 (from 8/73) shown above on left for manual only.
  18. Carl, I've been pretty happy with the new stock springs and KYB GR-2's plus some poly bushings. The ride seems firm enough for general highway driving where roads aren't perfect. I don't think I'd like anything much stiffer than that. I assume that a firm ride was normal for a Z, though I never had a ride in a brand new one. Frankly I can't imagine what the ride in some of these cars with racing springs and Tokico Illuminas is like. It must be bone jarring.

I thought BRE built their own exhaust system.
  20. Based on the Datsun dealer parts catalog the original exhaust had an oval "pre-muffler" near the center of the car with a round "muffler with tip" in the rear. Apparently they also used a sealer in the joints that was injected with a syringe.
  21. You never want to overtighten gaskets. If the gasket is squishing out the sides, it's way too tight.
  22. What's that toggle switch above the flasher switch for?
